Requiem for Syria

submedia.tv/stimulator/2016/09/19/requiem-for-syria/
In this latest report, we take an in-depth look at the Syrian Revolution, in an attempt to sift through all the fear-mongering and disinformation that prevents people from giving Syrians the revolutionary solidarity they deserve. Along the way, we take a closer look at what can sometimes be anarchists’ uncritical support for the Rojava Revolution in northern Syria.

On the musical break, we’ve got Palestinian-Syrian hip hop group Refugees of Rap, with Thawret Shaab (Popular Uprising). Finally, we round things off with an interview with Robin Yassin-Kassab, co-author of Burning Country: Syrians in Revolution and War.

This one will make lots of people here mad.

He has just denounced the philosopher king himself, Slavoj Cocain Zizek and called out tankies for their Red Fascism.
This will go interesting.

only because of the blind Zizek/Assad worship some people on here have.

Holy shit, this is one fucking stupid video.

holy shit, he even takes sides with the "rebels" against the YPG, and literally spouts Turkish propaganda about "ethnic cleansing." Fuck this cunt. I'm amazed that he managed to take the MOST RETARDED STANCE POSSIBLE.

This video made me want to become a tankie.

i usually like stim but this was just bad

Idpol socialists tend to be retarded, but this is worse then what I expected. Up your game stimulator

NEED SAUCE

I'M MAKING PASTA AND THIS RED BITCH IS ABOUT THE BE THE MAIN INGREDIENT

...

Please tell me user, are you against the YPG AND the Syrian regime? How do you reconcile the strong presence of Al Qaeda groups such as Nusra and Al Sham in every "rebel-held" territory?

literally not an argument

...

Dat gif!

I'm gonna need some sauce!

...

Image search is saying it's Proxy Paige. She's pretty hot, but Christ does she have a loose butthole.

That booty is good enough for me atm.

I seriously need to fap.

I don't get it.

What's the problem?

Stim did the same thing during the Brazilian coup where he attacked the people rallying behind Rousseff because she was super unpopular even though the people trying to oust her are even less popular and a million times more porky.

...

at least he had the balls to criticize Rojava unlike many dogmatic libertarians.

One cannot be an absolutist though.

I don't get it. When did he support moderate rebels?
He criticized aspects of the Kurds which he thinks may have affected some non-extremist Syrians badly, but I don't see where he supported any other group over the Kurds.

He even gave the Kurds much positive light with his interview.

He didn't criticize them with evidence or theory, he just spread Turkish smears about them "cleansing" territories that are FUCKING OCCUPIED BY ISIS.

Did people here see a different video? Or just not finish it?

The entire point he was making with the video was that westeners were ignoring the strives made in improving the social and material conditions by the people themselves. Instead choosing to focus almost exclusively on state actors, which is the exact same fucking critique that YPG supporters have been raising, except he goes a step further and says that most YPG supporters are just as blind when it comes to strides made outside of YPG.

The only thing he said that I think is really controversial is that off-hand comment about "ethnic cleansing" by the kurds which I personally haven't seen any real sourcing on. I actually haven't heard about it at all except from that sperging tankie assad supporter who shows up from time to time but conveniently disappears whenever asked to source his claims about the kurds.

that looks like bitch from that movie with the ginger alien bitch lmao

Yeah, that ethnic cleansing meme is sad and nonsensical but otherwise even as a massive YPG supporter the vid was pretty decent.

Its one of the best short vids on Syria from a left perspective..

Where can I learn more about the situation in Syria and the middle east in general with the minimum amount of propaganda?

uh, he literally says that the usa doesn't want to kill assad. his whole video is automatically garbage.

...

Unfortunately, the full response is no longer on there. Really, you should have read their side of the story first instead of assuming that amnesty international is 100% correct.

I was actually fishing for a response. Seems no one saved it, which is frustrating. Best I've found is this:
tendancecoatesy.wordpress.com/2015/10/15/ypg-on-the-syrian-democratic-force-us-weapons-amnesty-report/

This was all sourced from Turkish shills, seriously. And Amnesty has yet to put out nearly the same scale of report on the blatant and open ethnic cleansing happening in Turkey.

/r/syriancivilwar
Not kidding, it's got a wide variety of sources, but most sources are biased one way or another, so you do need to keep note on who says what.

Well, if they do they sure do need to actually act in a way that might result in that. So far their military action has been solely focused on global action jihadists.
When we're talking massive scale war crime, non-action is the same as acceptance.

Kidding, dismissing a source on things like this just because I disagree with their general political stances would be pretty disingenuous. I'll check it out.

Also this, Amnesty has a history of ignoring things due to political / practical conveniences, instead choosing to take up cases that nobody conceivably could object to. (See: all those fucking cases on teenagers on death-row, women getting beat up and raped, etc.)

Looks like that shit was pretty thoroughly debunked as bullshit by the YPG response.
kurdishquestion.com/oldsite/index.php/kurdistan/west-kurdistan/ypg-statement-in-reaction-to-amnesty-report/1183-ypg-statement-in-reaction-to-amnesty-report.html
Pretty surprised to see it was this bad in interpreting random farmers' assumptions and preconceptions as 'eyewitness accounts'. But I am also surprised that YPG did not even need to bring in that many separate sources to call bullshit on it.
Although a couple of the YPG responses were pretty dumb (The one about the children being shot at, e.g.), it seems like it's done a pretty good job of showing that there's no "ethnic cleansing" going on, and that any war crimes - should they have happened - will have been incidental and not inherent.

But, as a somewhat entertaining side note, while I were reading the YPG response statement, whenever they brought up the process for determining whether or not the Arabs they targeted in the villages they took control of where supporters of Daesh, it reminded me of that pdf Stalinposter (The tripguy, not the assad dicksucking tankie) posted about the dekulakization process in USSR in the 30's.

okay fuck off seriously this is delusional at best
Is stimulator just inhaling turk memes?
Literally no longer Exist any and all substantial moderate forces within Syria fled with the FSA already and all that's left are islamists and Al qaeda leadership. He may have had a point early on but now it's just ignorant. It's gotten to the point where the US can't even send weapons to a single cell there without it landing directly in Nusra hands. Not to mention that Stim went out of his way to try and point out a bad thing that Rojava allegedly did yet he didn't mention the chemical weapon attacks the rebels launched in population centers even in first couple years of the war.

They've been funding, training, and arming Al Qaeda rebels, Assad's main adversaries, for years. They haven't invaded or bombed Assad because Obama and Kerry are more cautious of political blowback than Hillary. ISIS was a big bug in their plan, because ISIS started making scary videos and threatening Westerners. We'd be helping ISIS right now and saying fuck the Kurds if ISIS was keeping their violence strictly in Syria.

oh also, it's a simplification for me to say we haven't bombed Assad. We occasionally do that too. Recently we LITERALLY GAVE AIR SUPPORT TO ISIS.
rt.com/news/359678-us-strikes-syrian-army/
(RT is first result, but this was in the AP and plenty of other Obama-approved papers)

People are just butthurt because he said Zizek is dumb

dank memes, dank memes everywhere

ASSAD WILL WIN

TERRORISTS WILL LOSE

they had that same salute in the region way before the nazis and you expect them to stop because of your western-centric sensitivities

yeah, fuck you

i agree.

why is it that the right like assad but don't like palestine/supports israel? that doesn't make sense at all is this movement absolutely retarded or motivated only by a shallow redneck "FUCKIN ARABZ" worldview.

why do you seem suprised by right wingers being hysteric emotional stupid fucks with no grasp of reality?

this.
even marxist leninists do this salute.

not a big fan of assad

Basically they don't actually hate Arabs. The western rightists who hate arabs don't even give a fuck about the syrian civil war. They hate Islam and Islamism. Can't disagree with them since i also loathe Islam (it's not only a religion but also an ideology)

Al-Sham means "The Levant." It's a place, not a group. Or are you talking about the Levantine Free Men?

Basically. It's an unholy alliance of xenophobia and a hatred of the west/fetishization of Russia.

ahrar al sham
you are aware these orgs are routinely referred to in an abbreviated manner, right

Yes. Call it Ahrar, if you have to abbreviate it. Don't be a moron.
