Undialectical af, comrades.

So let me give you a serious response.

The EU as an abstract ideal that is presented to us is not bad. The idea to make a trans-european economic system to prevent war and collectively stand in a better geopolitical position in a world dominated by 2 (now 3?) superpowers is really smart. The idea of unity, open borders between similarly developed nations etc is good and can be socialist.

However, the current EU is entirely undemocratic. Increasingly, corporations get more and more power over it and as such also the countries in the EU. An individual country other than perhaps germany has no real say in the EU policies. The ECB continues to push the agenda of neoliberalism, of capitalism, undermine social and socialist programmes in favour of the free market. We can see this happened in Greece. Furthermore, the EU for all that its undemocratic, actually has very little political power, while entirely controlling the economies. This means that countries are forced to use the same monetary policies, but at the same time the EU is unable to properly deal with things like the refugee crisis, which causes all EU members to hermit back into their old borders and make it every man for himself. Also, the EU is, as a geopolitical unit, more of an extension of nato and as such the USA, rather than a political unit on its own.

The EU, as with all capitalist things, only serves the interests of the bourgeoisie, and lets the working people boil in their own shit. Therefore, we should not strive for transforming the eu into a socialist thing, because it is impossible to do so due to its undemocratic and inability to actually control the tools of the states (police, media, army), but we should rather strive for a socialist union embodying (among other things) the ideals of unity, solidarity and interconnectedness within Europe while respecting local governance, which is basically what all socialists want anyway.

What are those cats eating?

a beef leg or something. I think.

EU was neoliberal in its beginnings, literally. The same European economists that came up with neoliberalism (or "ordoliberalism") before the 2nd world war were steering Europe towards EU after the war e.g. reconstruction of Germany and international free market for steel and coal in the 50s - the latter is like a starting point for the EU.
The only difference is that back then it was more "social", it was actually called "social market economy" by some. It had the same religious respect for the free market, but it was more sophisticated and stable than what we have now when it's just "eh, who gives a fuck about crises and people".
