Technically, those thousand pound bombs were expected to have been dumped into the ocean, because they were left in abandoned buildings with fucking holes in them since the Korean War in Guam and Okinawa. The officer in charge at the base refused to believe that the US Navy was actually going to use them at all. They were leaking, and for explosives, that is a very bad sign. Even the weapon handlers were scared of these cracked and rusted bombs.
