Deponia Doomsday

I had the game in my backlog for months, and man, it was awful, and that's what I liked about it.
The game knew it was awful, that it was an unnecessary sequel, and it only came out to piss the people who didn't like the previous ending. I thought the ending in the trilogy was perfect,and yet people didn't like it somehow, they wanted it to change it, and Doomsday said although it can be changed it could have been a lot worse and it was, basically, the game whole message is
This is what you wanted, piece of shit?

Now, I have a few questions about the ending. Everything went back to normal, everything that happened in the original trilogy stayed, right? So why the post-apocalyptic Goal went back to her own time? That's because there are multiple timelines now, right? Including the one where old Rufus and bride Goal are stranded with dinosaurs.
The general line of thoughts of the game was a cluster fuck, so it's hard to make sense of the ending as a whole, I still don't understand the loop on a loop part and how it was ended by the creepy Rufus on the trunk, just by preventing Goal from saving the original Rufus? That's not even how everything started. In fact, how did everything started? It was McCronicle?

Is the Deponia series a good series to start with if you have never played Point and Click adventures before?(Seriously at least)

Sure. You just need to be able to solve puzzles. The puzzles can be a bit weird (a la Monkey Island).

How patient are you? The logic can be a bit dubious at times
You do get these really neat flow charts that get filled out as you progress so you can keep track of what you're supposed to be doing and sometimes gives hints. This one is from the first part of the game

My first proper point and click was I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and with the exception of Gorrister's level, I was able to do them without hints. I'm not terribly good at these games so maybe that'd be a good starting point for you as well

Doomsday effectively was the games writer and producer, Jan Müller-Michaelis (aka Poki) being passive-aggressive about the endless whining Deponia 3 got because it didn't have a happy end. The entire game seeks to justify why the incredibly selfish Rufus actually sacrificed himself at the end.

That being said, this "Poki" effect is present in virtually all Daedalic games - they are comical and upbeat for 90% of the story but then slap you in the fact with a downer ending. You already had this in Harvey & Edna: The Breakout, which basically was Daedalic's first game and started as a student project of Müller-Michaelis.

His reponse at RPS for their review that the game is racist is gold.
