The drill? THE DRILL?

guys, the thermal drill, go get it

any1 gotten back into EVE here?

VOID COMBAT STRATEGY

But an0n, RAMMING is the perfect strategy.

Unless you're Eldar. Their ships are made from tissue paper.

Indeed!

M8,I'm playing Orks and it's pretty damn hard getting those buggers without taunt/slow bomb or tractor beam.
Thier speeds are ridiculous.

Especially in assasination or data recovery missions where I have no hope of escaping but they can both attack fast and escape.

Chaos is shit at ramming too.

Those pics are from single player.
nuff said

guess no1 likes spreadsheets?
or killing goons

...

I'd play EVE if I didn't have to pay for the privilege of being a corp buttboy for months first.

I like stellaris

You propably haven't played it for longer than a hour yet, then.

What? I don't know how it is now, but back in the day there was nothing like that. You join a crop, everyone does what the fleet commander says to do, and you fit the best you can.

What if we all formed a corp in EVE? I got a 35 mil sp character floating around somewhere.

There are missions in which you have to play with the Eldar AI. That is hard too.

I got bored of it quicker than that. Lacks the stuff I'd want in a Paradox game (i.e, actual grand strategy) and is basically just another bad MOO clone. Might as well the thousand other MOO/Civ clones already out there.

...

Can someone upload the zip file of this steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=682291921

Why?
==CAUSE FUCK YOU STEAM!== Thats why.

Low energy.

thanks that actually helped

You are welcome.

...

...

Is stellaris even worth the 4GB? Or am I just better off with Sins of a Solar Empire?

I'd recommend waiting for the DLC that adds the content they deliberately removed to make more shekels and some mods before pirating. Though, if you like modding Paradox's games, it might worth for looking through the files.

Sins of a Solar Empire.

No
The game is just boring beyond the first hour or so

Grab sins and also grab Metro redux if you haven't already.

They're very different games.

Stellaris is more of a real time SotS, it has little to do with Sins.

Its worth the 4gig but aint worth the pricetag yet.

anyone here is down for some eternal silence?

i mean the mod
store.steampowered.com/app/17550/

Nobody ever is sadly.

wccftech.com/star-citizen-24-persistence-build-notes-leak/2/

N-Never ever! Right goys? Never ever! It's just vaporware! Pay no attention to the thrice-a-week video updates, downloadable builds or written monthly reports of what everyone did, Shekel citizen is just a scam! No game takes 3 years of development! What kikes!

Is this you user?

excuse me, i asked if anyone was down for eternal silence, not == ETERNAL SHILLING ==

Are you one of those autists that spent 2k bucks on a virtual space ship?

That doesn't even get you to the middle circle were they really start teaching the mysteries.

How's Space Engine faring lately? Any cool new updates?

Don't know user, let's find out shall we?

It's not that it is taking 3 years or longer to make, it is that they are taking 3 years longer than their OWN ESTIMATE. :^)

The midgame, fucking hell.

Is this what other grandstrat games are like? Or is this just stellaris?

Depends. Stellaris is particularly boring because it's only a DLC platform without any DLC yet, once they've fleshed out the game in a couple of years it might be okay.

I have no idea who this is.

No, but I did make concierge getting other people the game through my account during the LTI debacle back in 2013, so I've got access to those perks.

They're honestly really open about what they do and why. On the bottom of the website they've got links to all the dev posts on why they're doing things the way they are and listen to feedback on everything.

They've said many times the scope of the game changed when they learned they could get infinite money beyond the kickstarter selling more and more ships. When they figured that out, they basically spent 2013 laying the groundwork, 2014 opening studios and starting development and 2015 getting engine shit down right and coding the shit they need to make the game possible. The goal was always to make "the best damn space sim ever" and I really don't understand why people get caught up over that number. Wouldn't you want a good game a few years down the road than a shitty rush job with no content, especially if the devs learned that they could give the game an insane amount of content through

People like you is why they now refuse to list dates for things, people get caught up on them not delivering deadlines more than them not wanting to deliver a substandard product, even with the 3-times-a-week video updates showing off exactly what they're doing, every week. They're the most transparent developers in the entire business.

The other thing that irks me is that there is actual progress made on the game, but people ignore it in favor of NEVER EVER shitposting so it never gets talked about.

2.4 is looking pretty fucking exciting. Finally getting persistence and reputation into the game, finally getting missions worth something, it's finally more than just a sandbox you can fly around in, the first real taste of what Star Citizen is aiming for.

This is the crux of the problem. From the outside looking in, it looks like they have no motivation to finish the game, and plenty of motivation to just keep selling spaceship models forever.

You mean the complete lack thereof, right?

Foolish neophyte, with just a small investment you too could be shown the truth through nearly insubstantial incremental payments.

*especially if the devs learned that they could give the game an insane amount of content through funding it with endless ship sales.

They've got a lot of motivation to finish, it's just a lot of work they're tackling. They already have post-release plans and such.

Keep in mind, from the original kickstarter to now, the plan was to have two games: Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Squadron 42 is deep in development and has the entire script done and principle photography is finished for all the mocap shoots, they're just doing the levels and gameplay now for that. Same tech is being used in Star Citizen.

They've got four main studios, the british studio is heading Squadron 42 development, the german studio is doing engine development, santa monica is doing ships and flight mechanics and austin is doing open universe mechanics and environments. They've also contracted work to other studios too.

Well if you plug your ears and scream really really loud whenever someone posts proof of otherwise, sure.

You don't have to pay anything to see their videos or read their updates, and they have free fly weeks about once a month where you can download the game and try it out for yourself.

What about the people who paid to the Kickstarter to play the singleplayer campaign? Can you really say to them with a straight face that it's reasonable they are expected to wait years and years past the original release date just so an MMO they don't care about can possibly be released? If the game got delayed 12-18 months past the initial Kickstarter date they were supposed to get refunds, but that went out the window.

People could propably talk to Mithraists for free too.

They have a community, people who aren't the devs make posts to the steam page, but i cant find any server with people on it.

To them I'd say that sucks, but Squadron 42 is getting the same love and will also be better as a result. If they specifically backed the project only wanting a single player experience specifically within a year, then yeah, I think they should get a refund and a lot of the people who felt strongly about that asked for one and were granted one. Deal is though, the majority of people who backed the project don't care about the release date and want to play both games.

If there's anybody left in that group, who backed the kickstarter and want a refund because they aren't getting a single player experience by November 2014, they can probably get a refund if they ask.

So, latest news on STO.

>New expansion coming up adding a new faction to play TOS ERA FEDERATION, KLINGONS AND ROMULANS AND CARDASSIANS CAN GET FUCKED T:CRYPTIC

Also, STO is now infecting the already shitty current console generation.
arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9956413

I'm having a real good time with Stellaris i pirated it don't worry. It's pretty fun to infiltrate primitive lifeforms and enslave them.

But one of my agent went native and say what I am doing is wrong. He's no human anymore.

How drastically has that game changed since it first went F2P?

I had fun uplifting primitives into slave armies like any good evil empire. Not enough fun for the time spent though.

And genetically engineering my capital world's population suddenly disenfranchised them because they weren't part of the "primary" species anymore and they got ridiculously mad. Another feature thoroughly playtested.

Ships have been added galore, max level is now 60 and max ship tier is 6.
Romulan faction was added as well as Romulan and Remanplayer characters and Klingons finally got some love and became a full faction with their own story content, till one point of story where all story lines connect and everyone starts doing same missions.

Two expansions came out and are free and integrated to the game, first one added Romulans and second one added delta quadrant (not the whole quadrant, just some areas) also sector space got reworked so now there are no more sector blocks, just each quadrant separately.

Also recently they changed the skills, so now they should be more easy to decipher and make builds.

Also admiral specialization was added, bringing you more abilities.

There is now maybe 10 reputation lists you can grind for perks and equipment.

They added dilithium to replace some old currencies, stuff like PvP and PvE marks.
But then they have kept on adding new reputation marks in place of those weapon schematics for STF related stuff.

Also they revamped crafting and it now happens onscreen similar to duty officer stuff.

Oh and we also got admiralty missions which are essentially duty officer missions but instead of using officers on them, you use ships on them.

I think that should cover most of it, if i remember anything more i will add it on later posts.

My Trek lore is kinda rusty?

Who or what is coming now?

i dropped it shortly after the Romulan faction came out

Does anyone know a really comfy space game? I have bought Elite Dangerous and was kinda disappointed because of the lack of content. Also i´m pretty much a newbie to this genre.

X3 may be up your street.

The new faction is the original series era Federation.

As in, now you can play as a different kind of federation captain, with different tutorial and different missions and from a different sector space in general.
Not much is yet known because they released info on it for the first time last week, but what we now know is that they are gonna get some voice actors for TOS and Wrath of khan era content, these actors being Walter Koenig aka mister Chekov and the late James Doohans (mister Scotty) son, Chris, to voice act his fathres old character.

As for shit that has happened in lore…

Gonna post this one now and then write a follow up on more current plot regarding time travel and shit.

Old Romulan Tasha looks like better preserved Merkel.

original metro is better.

how much did you pledge, user?

is it still in EA?

even better, if you pledged from the start you will still not get the full singleplayer campaing, you need to pay more for the last part of the SP game, or something like that, i dont know if they changed that.

It basically performed exterminatus on itself user.

Second green text wall approaching captain!

>But before long Doctor Who KAL DANO A HALF HUMAN HALF VULCAN HALF (insert a list of several aliens, including the ones we just met) TIME TRAVELLERFROM THE FUTURE FLYING IN TARDIS A SPACE SHIP THE SIZE OF A SHUTTLE WITH WEAPONS OF A CONTEMPORARY BATTLESHIP AND ITS BIGGER ON THE INSIDE THAN ON THE OUTSIDE
>Still, he crashes the party and makes the future Na'kuhl thirst for blood because their homeworld is kill due to Tholians IT'S FEDERATIONS FAULT FOR NOT HELPING (even though they offered help) and so they decide to fuck us over

And this is where we are.

There has been some officially releasedbits of text regailing captain time travelers missions and this one encounter where Sulus ancestor kills a Na'Kuhl with his katana.

you faggots hyped for casuals invading your vidya?
nichegamer.com/2016/05/12/mmorpg-star-trek-online-soars-to-consoles-in-fall-2016/

it don't matter. the only good thing is ground missions. ship battles are the most grindy bullshit it killed my enjoyment of playing.

Right, now i remembered some other stuff they changed in the game after Romulans.

Oh and i found the story of ancient Sulu and his samurai friends killing a dishonorable alien.
arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9945633-star-trek-online:-steel-and-karma

Games old developer called it a "zombie game" recently, saying that it doesn't really have any future since only people who are still playing it are the folks who dont care about shitty gameplay or performance and just want a space where they can larp Star Trek.
Also he said some rather unkind words about Cryptics marketing department and wondered how they kept on taking pictures from game on its lowest possible graphics settings, essentially spitting on the efforts of him and his team on trying to make the game look good.

Personally, i don't think this change is going to change anything in our end.
But if it does, well, the game was mostly dead anyways so whatever.

Also, while watching this trailer, im calling some major bullshit here.

Most of the game is fucking war, very little diplomacy or any peaceful missions.

Champions is on a similar situation.

Only old players or RPers care for the game

There's actually more diplomacy and peaceful missions playing KDF than the Feds.

And continuation on that first pic of the post.

Unfortunately no. Outer WIlds is pretty comfy though but it's unfinished:
mobiusdigitalgames.com/downloads.html
Ever since I was a little kid I've been wanting to play a comfy game with a space setting but they just don't get made. I'm sort of looking forward to NMS since it looks a little comfy at least, it won't as deep or as interesting as I would have liked but it is seems to be just about the only game that does what I want which is atmospheric exploration.

So in what game can I have kinky alien sex?

Just go to a massage palor and pay a spic.

Rebel Galaxy is pretty comf

Depends on what you mean by "game". There are several VNs that have that but if you need a "real" game then the closest you're going to get is Mass Effect I think.

my fuckin dick. i remember the outer wild threads we had going on for a while.

This user knows!

...

The game suffers from typical modern Paradox diplomacy "balancing" i.e NPCs refuse to co-operate with the player most of the time because that balanced the multiplayer, which only the playtesting dev LAN team cares about.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited to play the finished thing, hopefully it will be just as comfy as the original alpha but longer and more fleshed out.

Freelancer is pretty confy too. Especially when wandering in an ice cloud or the badlands.

Its a classic.

Thanks for the answers guys. I already played Rebel galaxy for a short time, but i will check out X3

Don't most AI suffer from this?

i need weeb shit in my space vidya, can be from any platform, i just need qt chinese cartoons or manly man.

...

Which one has the most smut? VNs are fine. /d/ is i/d/eal

you sick fuck!

I didn't say something like heterosexual sex in the missionary position between a happily married couple for the purpose of bonding and procreation, user.

we need a double spoiler.

Outer Wilds reminded me a lot of this, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much.

newgrounds.com/portal/view/459147

I also greatly enjoyed the Samorost games for similar comfy feels.

My absolute nigger

no, it was that if you didn't pay at the start you don't get the single player campaign. kikestarter backers get squadron 42 and the other SP thing i forget the name of that comes later, then everybody up until like last december gets SC and S42. and now you only get one or the other for your shekels.

I got a basic package and the game is fun i guess but the cult that follows the game makes me regret it. Seriously, its almost completely autists banking that chris roberts is somehow christ himself and not a moderately talented developer who is out of touch with the current market.

late reply fell asleep
id be down for that got a 34mil sp character
theres the faggot halfchan corp i think called broski north up at the moment, dont no if they do that much

Has anyone played the SR2 expansion? Is the game good yet?

any eve players hit me up and we can roam/anything together
rico calvert

Colony Wars was a great series, but a lot of the ship designs in Red Sun were a bit too silly. It was also kind of weird how they suddenly introduced a bunch of alien races to the universe, where even meeting one alien race in the second game was considered a big deal.

Psygnosis also made G-Police, which may or may not count as a space game.

am I the only one who thinks eldar ships look really puny?
the weapons dont look plentiful or powerful, the sails are extremely vulnerable. the lack of a reactor and reliance on them is idiotic. and the lack of a reactor just leads to a lack of a void shield.

You just found this out? didn't even pay attention to the last literal abortion they pumped out?

What did they do to mess up Miner Wars?

...

Sails give you something like 90% evasion as long as you keep moving.
The fuckers are fast and just do hit and run.

Yes they are vulnerable to boarding but 90% evasion makes most other weapons useless.

So they more than compensate for lacking shields with speed and evasion.
Their damage is off the charts too.

Its pretty boring, its basically Endless Space with real time if not still uncontrollable combat. The way they handle pops is okay, but otherwise meh.

The UI is nice until districts breaks the functionality and hides your starship systems behind more ui.

I understand the gameplay mechanics, I mean lore wise. I never liked the idea of their shuriken weapons.

But they are choppy dakka?

Ships use beamz.

The Mandate never ever.

Don't say such horrible things user

I regret to inform everyone that Fractured Space is heading towards a shitty path.

Their recent update implemented a 'drop pod' system which is the new way you acquire crew members. If you had all of the old crew members, say goodbye, they' now need to be reacquired again.

Problem is, the rate to acquire new crew is inherently low in the drop pods, roughly 1%. They cost DNA to purchase now, which so far has been reliant on Drop Pods to gain more currency for itself. It's a chicken/egg thing scenario. You need DNA and crew templates, yet they both come from Drop pods, one per opening.

Or you can get credits/platinum (premium currency), but there is nothing quite like spending 100K on a drop pod to open it and get 30K back.

Thankfully combat ingame hasn't change but this new system really pisses me off. The new starters are goddamned annoying to hear midgame.

fuck that gay shit

Is Fractured Space ever going to be relevant?

nope, its another mobaesque game, maybe if they add singleplayer.

What the fuck did Star Ruler 2 ever do to earn all the ambivalence it gets? The game's pretty good and insanely deep if you invest some time to learn it.

I own it but haven't got the expansion yet, had lots of fun with it and the music is great, the ABEM mod sucked tho, added too many changes, and the default tech tree sucked,

So Hows the expansion so far? i think there was a patch today

youtube.com/watch?v=qRpXT939xT0

Thank god someone agrees with me. As with nearly all megamods, it's complete shit made by a retarded forumfag.
The First are OP as fuck on larger maps, but it all centers on their ability to cover planets in enhancement buildings. They provide empire-wide buffs but you've gotta build mass reduction buildings to cancel out the huge mass increase from all the other buffs or your fleets will basically be unable to move.

The Heralds are also pretty good, you can't control colonization without a huge payment but you have no upkeep and Jumpdrives can always jump back to a beacon with no risk of damage. I think the range on jumpdrives is a bit too short since non-herald races don't get beacons but it's easy to mod them in.

Attitudes function almost like alternative researches that give passive buffs. Some seem a bit too hard to level up but overall they're pretty good. The new weapons are also nice, and weapon balance is better. The only complaint I have is the godawful sprites for the new weapon projectiles, hopefully someone fixes that.

Overall it really does make the game better.

...

Is there a more PTSD inducing event in Star Wars than the destruction of Malachor V? nothing in Disney's abortion counts

Vid related user

thats good to know, i hope they get better utilitarian vehicles tho, the idea of using huge tractor beams to steal planets and holding them hostage makes me drool

In fact i tried to no avail to use a big ass tractor beam ship to stop enemy capitals from using their jump drives and hold them in place until my other ships destroy it, never worked

You use an Ion cannon for that. Thankfully it's also an attachable artifact.

What the hell is Frungy?

So which are the best space games you'd recommend to someone who hasn't played any yet?

What kind of spess game?

They stopped development and moved to SE/ME.
But keen is quite good compared to other kikescammer/jewlight devs.

Strategy I guess. Spaceships and shit.

Space rangers 2HD.

Distant Worlds is insanely complex but neat, I personally like Star Ruler 2 but it seems pretty divisive. Stellaris might be OK if you've played Paradox games before. SoaSE is alright but very basic. GalCiv2 is pretty neat if you like civ-style games.

Basically though, strategy how? The scale and speed is all over the place since space is a flexible setting.

Hey thanks for the tips. I'm going to try gal civ and DW, looks really cool.

Gal civ for anyone that wants it.

mega.nz/#!PBURkBxY!0yDdnstc6c2P9gnN2xLqMBQCrP3xFjn7pt1yDimdtQM

At the same time DW can be very casual friendly, you can automate >everything< and simply sit back and watch.

Any good DW mods worth checking out that work with the latest patches?

The original SotS is pretty easy to pick up and play. The game is pretty intuitive and has a bit of depth thanks to all the shit you can do.

Do not play the sequel.

if you want hand holding go for freelancer if you want to be **bullied* go for X3 games.

Good man

Battlefleet gothic: Armada is rather resent game, it's pretty easy to get into and you control a fleet of ships you pick prior to battle from your roster of ships.

After two years of being ignored by Star Citizen obsessed normalfags, Juliano is finally going to put RogSys on Steam so more people will know about it. Feels good man

Why does the Jupiter incident not get much love?

I hear it's a great game.

One of my favorite space game. Too bad it's somewhat unique in its kind.

Indeed.
Also too bad it had to go to pew pew lasers and energy shields and ayyy lmaos territory.

Yeah, the Stiletto missions are still my favorites.

SPAAAAAACEEEEE

finaly a space romance?!

fractalsoftworks.com/2016/05/15/developing-the-mora-class-carrier/

New Starsector update. For some reason it didn't show up in my rss reader.

there was a game mentioned 2 or 3 threads ago where the main ship has a rotating section, and its a first person role playing game

anyone know it? its a new game.

cute, you believe everything you read.

Its still vapourware until its released.

Looks like Alex is going to make some changes to the carrier mechanics.

Just bought X3 -gold box, can someone fill me in, which one do I play first out of

Alien Prelude
Terran Conflict
Reunion?

Does it even matter? What's the relationship between these games?

I played the game on hard and boy it surely gets hard and near impossible in some cases, fucking escort missions, great game, shame torpedoes suck and the best weapon is the laser

I also managed to not only survive a survive until X happens mission, but captured the 3 hunter ships and then destroyed them and the game didn't even bother giving me a victory

Yeah the biggest problem about Nexus mission design is that you need a lot of foresight in order to win, so that means a lot of saving before a mission, playing it, not being able to complete it and returning so you can.

Planet Stories was an American pulp science fiction magazine, published by Fiction House between 1939 and 1955. It featured interplanetary adventures, both in space and on other planets, and was initially focused on a young readership. Malcolm Reiss was editor or editor-in-chief for all of its 71 issues. Planet Stories was launched at the same time as Planet Comics, the success of which probably helped to fund the early issues of Planet Stories. Planet did not pay well enough to regularly attract the leading science fiction writers of the day, but did manage to obtain work from well-known names on occasion, including Isaac Asimov and Clifford Simak. In 1952 Planet published Philip K. Dick's first sale, and went on to print four more of his stories over the next three years.

I loved the 1950's retro futuristic designs

I've not played reunion but it's a precursor to both AP and TC. Albion Prelude is very similar to Terran Conflict but AP has more features, like a stock market, more ships, etc. There isn't really a reason to play TC at all if you have AP. And reunion is only important if you want the story.

I would also personally recommend a cockpit mod.

How is that game progressing anyway?
I'm quite excited for it. It seems super comfy.
I wonder if he may add VR and motion control support.

BS

TC has a whole set of plots that are FAR more interesting than AP plots.

Space engineers is pretty dope. Crazy that i can build automated probes that can take off from my earth base and accurately land on my Mars base without issues.

if you're looking for epic story/decent singleplayer value: Homeworld series. You could play them in release order OR play them chronologically. The latter would go like this:
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak
Homeworld 1
Homeworld Cataclysm
Homeworld 2

I'm doubtfull they could go on after HW2 since that pretty much ends it all. Although there are still a few corners (story wise) of the world they've done the set up for and could write more plot/lore for in future titles. Still, the main storyline in the Homeworld universe ends with HW2.

damn son rev up those M-discs

There's the occasional gay character, but that's about as far as it goes into SJW-bait, and I'd say in general they're well-written such that that's not the only thing that defines them. Either that or they're side characters that you don't really have to worry about anyway. And it's not like characters are spending pages going on and on about progressive causes or what have you, considering that there's much more important shit to deal with.

The TV series is also good, surprisingly so considering it aired on Syfy. Already got greenlit for another season.

They're fast reads as well, so if the first book isn't your bag, you won't be out that much time. I've found that once I get to about the middle of each book, the conflict has ramped up so much that I pretty much can't put it down until I'm done, the latest book especially so.

For a really terrible SJW autism book, 2312 is right up there. Not only do you have shit like biomodified agender/multigender people and "abloobloobloo global warming we killed all the animals ;_;" and all kinds of SJW shit like that, but the story itself went absolutely fucking nowhere. It seemed like there were all kinds of threads that were going to get connected in some big conspiracy, and that's why I kept reading it (some of the setting ideas were interesting and I guess that's what kept me going), but the finale was literally–I shit you not–the main characters throwing animals with parachutes onto Earth and a midget inspector just magically rounding up the rogue AIs that seemed to be doing something but ended up doing nothing. Oh, and a 90-page chapter of the main characters trapped in a tunnel. Ninety fucking pages of NOTHING. I cannot unrecommend that book enough.

First one is out already, second one comes this summer and third one comes during this winter.

After that Viz media is gonna take a look at the sales and then decide whether to continue translations and publishing, or not.

...

I went back and added that in in the wrong spot. My bad.

The book isn't bad but holy fuck that first season dragged on and the people making the show were more obsessed with filling a gender and ethnic quota than making the show.

It is SJW shit. Global warming is a lie anyways, that's why they renamed it to "climate change" as if climate never changed before.

I mean, the books have the same amount of diversity anyway, so that didn't bother me. Mars was mainly colonized by Indians and Chinese and you know how they breed, yet they also talk with a Texan accent so it's more tolerable.

It did kinda drag in places, and I'm surprised they didn't get entirely through the first book by the season's end. I guess since they added in more side stories they couldn't get as far. But they captured the look pretty well, apart from Belters not looking quite alien enough. I give it a pass since that would be hard without making half the cast or more CGI, and with that many CG characters you know they'd look bad.

It was also a smart decision to put Avasarala in the first season even though she doesn't show up until the second book. Still the best character.

idk about climate change, but I always wondered about the supposed rise of the ocean levels due to polarcaps melting.

I mean most of the ice on the polarcaps is in the form of icebergs (there's no land in North pole, so there it's 100%). over 90% of an iceberg is submerged. When water freezes, it gets bigger by roughly 9%.

So, let's take 1 unit of water. It uses that 1 unit to raise the ocean water level (obviously). Now, let's let it freeze, and we have 1.09 units of ice. Of that, ice uses 1.09*0.9=0.981 units to raise the water level. That means that if we melted all the icebergs, only about 1.9% of their volume would actually go to raising the water levels. Obviously, those numbers aren't exact and you'd need to research the influence of saltXiceberg water, etc., but those numbers wouldn't be too different from this. So, if we take in the acount the size of the world's oceans, the tiny fraction of them that's covered in ice, and the fact that of that ice, only about 2% would go towards raising the level, would the final effect really be as dramatic as they keep describing in the media?

So, when is a show, movie, or novel actually allowed to feature nonwhites and females without being lambasted for attempting to fulfill a diversity quota? Never?

I believe shit is happening climate-wise, but the debate whether we caused it or not and its risk to civilization is bullshit. Most timescales involving dramatic climate change take centuries, and by then we would have either destroyed civilization ourselves through war or we will have the technology not to give a shit. I mean, the dutch have figured out how to live under sea level since the middle ages, so its not like we don't know how to hold off the sea.

That being said, I still believe we should make an effort to not pollute as much, if only to make the general quality of life that much better.

This will never happen. Mutually Assured Destruction is a concept that will always hold strong and will prevent the usage of weapons of mass destruction for as long as there is a danger that the country firing them might get fucked up in kind.

More importantly, even if the darkest, most drastic predictions came to be, inland countries still needn't give two shits about it.

I agree. Pollution should be prevented in the name of public health, for example through the usage of advanced filters on factory chimneys and water treatment plants. The direction of current ecoactivism is, sadly, more about self-flaggelation about how we're oh so terrible for not living in caves anymore.

Probably not. Its another of those cases of things used to guilt trip easily impressionable people into giving money to questionable things.

This is correct, If don't limit pollution you end up in a situation like China.

Just bought it too. I'm reading it once I finish with Look to Windward.

Don't fuck with the Culture.

idk guys, i'm looking pretty forward to no man's sky.

more casual ship flying and shit (i would love E:D's flying personally), but alien npcs and factions that you can earn and lose favor with and get new ships from, exploring planets, trade, combat, learning alien languages, finding new tech, learning the lore, etc.

sounds like the space sim sandbox I wanted E:D to be even if it is simpler in the flying mechanics. They've been releasing more info and videos, was going to embed one but it's IGN so fuck 'em. Assume we'll get more next month.

Probably pirate it first since you can play offline anyway though, but yeah everything I've heard or seen seems like fun to me.

Like what you want to like user

you too.

I mean no mans sky looks good to me as well but I am kinda burn't out on exploration games like that.So I hopes it's a good game and it's good enough for you to have fun in

yeah, I'm hoping it's good too. E:D was disappointing, Star Citizen is probably going to be a disaster, and I just want a really nice and new space sim. Evochron's okay, but yeah. And the mystery of NMS appeals to me as well, like the portals and the monolith and what's at the center.

You're both humongous fucking faggots

Get a room

Star Citizen could be good but it's not going to come out tell 2019. 65DAYSOFSTATIC was a great choice for the OSt for NMS. Hopefully it is good.

Also more games should have space sluts

No

Why is this

only if you watch

Yeah, I'm def getting the NMS soundtrack even if the game is shit. Love 65daysofstatic.

I created my own my own space slut officer core in Star Sector if that counts.

I'm a big fan of 65daysofstatic as well but haven't listened to any of their albums past 2010 so I"m really looking forward to the OST.

AGREED.

I don't know if you've heard it yet, but here's one of the tracks they did for the ost. soundcloud.com/65daysofstatic/supermoon

>you will never travel space piloting a comfy ship with your waifu and cuddling with her after in a room with a huge window so you can look with her the beauty that is space while holding hands

Why am I even breathing?

Wish space marine favors weren't worthless.

Boarding in general is pretty shit.

Something similar but there's actually shit you can do in other gsg's while you wait. In stellaris you do fucking NOTHING for hours on end until you finally breakdown and go against your ethics to actually have fun.

Distant worlds is fun as fuck once you get used to it. I just wished the AI was actually smart though.

Just do worldbuilding user, If you're autistic enough it can be a lot of fun and since you're making it for yourself you'll never have to worry about people telling you how bad it may or not be.

Take this mega.nz/#!mUdCCYLL!2i9TGkR26u9-JEmKZLrSpu5KpdhhFQ5v5DbYxTtgfbc

The story of my life in so many games>Distant worlds is fun as fuck once you get used to it. I just wished the AI was actually smart though.

...

They never renamed it, dumbass. Anthropogenic climate change has been a term that has been used since the beginning. And no fucking shit the climate has changed before, but plenty of scientific evidence that includes samples that are hundreds of thousands of years old tell us the current upward trend is WAY above average in the natural cycle and it coincides with the emergence of the Industrial Revolution.

Quit regurgiating half-truths you read on Holla Forumseddit. I hate the fucking political weaponization of global warming myself, and I don't give a shit if we're making the Earth warmer, this planet is doomed to begin with, but the Earth is getting warmer due to human activity, period.

I thought boarding was alright, but the inability to upgrade it any other way than increasing the odds for a critical was crappy. It would be great to disable shit on larger ships, but its a trade you are going to lose if you get into that range.

yeah, open that wound and put some salt on it, user.

PURGE THE XENOS

But 5 boarding actions with boats sounds like a pretty neat thing to me.

Do you use Carriers user?

youre right they look more like this trough a normal telescope and yes you can find some nebulae at specific times of the year at specific spots.

Stellaris was my first strategy game excluding Civ V and I've had a lot of fun despite the flaws everyone talks about. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should play? Preferably multiplayer.

Sword of the Stars, seeing how Stellaris is a GSG version of it. Its excellent go play it.

Then play Sins of a Solar Empire

Then try heavyweights like Master of Orion 2

As an ork player I can clearly say yer mum's a grot.

There are enough ways to improve boarding and make it viable and some factions excell at it by default.
Imperium ships, that fight mid to low range should use boarding more so than eldar or chaos.

Those are heretics, an0n. Not xenos.

Looking for SotS user don't worry I got you.

mega.nz/#!rMdjnTKB!CuSN0hDWT2MsPXgQNUuc482VJ0AcSxaAMhlcKStyEhc

is that the lewd american comic where he wants to purge her, but she confuses him and then he uses his dick instead and it has handholding, cuddling, pregnancy and happy sex?

No, you heretic. It's the one making fun of big brother type cohabiting shows where one of each faction has to live together with the others for a period of time.

Red Sun wasn't made by the same team as the first two games.

Is there anymore user?

you know thats complete bullshit propagated by people who directly profit from the man-made-climate-change-religion, right?
you cant possibly be retarded enough to believe this fairy tale

Hypocrite.

And I don't get this Holla Forumseddit meme. Don't you realize reddit bans anyone for being right wing?

If anything Holla Forums is the reddit of Holla Forums.

Distant Worlds

I've already seen the entire animu, is the book basically the same thing?

Yeah I watched it, there was plenty of SJW shenanigans but it was an okay watch despite that. However I heard that the story goes nowhere after the first book and from what I've read on kikepedia they main characters are basically stuck on that ship now and nothing really interesting will happen. Also from the summary I've read I think it would have been far more interesting if it would have stayed within our solar system and ditched the gateway thing.

Ditto, it seems to hit many of the right buttons for me too. After reading so many cool science fiction novels it will be nice to finally be able to land and go on adventures on planets and explore space freely, even if it is somewhat shallow. I've been hoping for such a game ever since I booted up Space Engine for the first time, knowing that we now had the technology to actually show that stuff and not just abstract it was pretty exciting.

Speak for yourself. Having had a basic education you should know about the effect of greenhouse gases. The only people who legitimately believe that man has nothing to do with the current increase in storms and bad weather are uneducated idiots and people being paid by the fossil fuel companies.

We likely won't feel the full impact of the damage we've already done in our lifetimes but the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere is going to hit global ecosystems hard. Rapid sea level rises and extreme weather patterns are predicted within the next hundred years.

More or less.
Some things are a bit different (for example, It seems like Dusty was just made up for animu, just like those two imperial gunners from episode 1).

Also, Klopstock and Benemünde incidents took place in a gaiden book by what i can tell.
Oh and Kastrop Incident had no toga party, zephyr particles or fancy space satellites of doom on it.
Here's how Kastrop incident went in the book…

After the passing of Maximilians father, he was supposed to get the rank of Count from imperial estate as the successor of his father.
Instead, what he got was a few tax collectors coming to his estate to demand back the ill gotten money Eugen had gained during his time as treasury secretary.
Due to Eugens social skills, web of friends and multiple well placed bribes, he was never prosecuted about it and imperial household only remembered about the whole fact when talks of Maximilians ascension to his fathers place came about.
Maximilian though, had been pampered for most of his life and thus considered the money he inherited from his father as his birthright, just like his court rank.
Instead of paying them, Maximilian let loose his genetically augmented hunting dogs which drove off the tax collectors from his estate.
This happened twice.
After that, Maximilian was summoned to Odin for discussion about his promotion in court rank and regarding his inheritance.
Maximilian though was paranoid and thought that this was a plot to murder him.
When he didn't arrive at court a show of force was made and a fleet of several thousand warships was sent to his lands.
Once they arrived and landed, Maximilians troops ambushed them.
After this little victory, Maximilian became confident in his ability as troop commander and set out to space where he defeated a second invasion attempt to his homeland and after that, overconfident of his abilities decided to take over nearby Mariendorf lands and carve out a small empire for himself.
As he besieged the Mariendorf county, the empire sent a third fleet commanded by Rear-Admiral Siegfried Kircheis (same backroom deals and shit went on in book as in show, with some changes).
At first Kircheis moved towards Mariendorf space, but suddenly changed his direction towards Kastrop territory, this caused Maximilian to pull his troops away from Mariendorf lands and back towards his homeland.
While still on his way back home, Maximilian was ambushed in an asteroid belt by Kircheis' forces, the ensuing battle caused severe losses to Kastrops forces and he fled the battle.
While fleeing, Maximilian was assassinated by his subordinates who wished to buy their pardons with their masters blood.

And that is how Kastrop rebellion happened and ended in the book.

Respectfully, you have no idea what you're talking about. Neither of us do. Neither of us are atmospheric physicists. What you learned in high school doesn't make you qualified to speak authoritatively about these kinds of phenomena.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, i'm saying that either of us attempting to say for sure whether it does or doesn't is foolish conjecture at best and pop culture alarmism at worst.

Don't take my word for it, watch bill nye the engineer argue about it with a respected atmospheric physicist and professor of meteorology at MIT. His alma mater is Harvard. This is his field of expertise.

Are you more qualified to talk about it than him? Be honest, neither of us are. Fair to say we're both more qualified than bill nye though.

It's basic science, the kind you'd expect a high schooler to know. It just makes you all the more retarded for not understanding that.

You sound like an absolute idiot who went to a church school. Did they even teach you what the atmosphere is?

Hurr durr, highschoolers aren't qualified to discuss pressure or temperature. It's an exceedingly simple experiment you can do for yourself. Go buy a cannister of Co2 and pump it into a bell jar with a thermometer inside. Leave in the sun. Compare with other bell jar with regular air inside.

Another idiotic viewpoint. Go back a hundred years before the industrial revolution and humans lived and died according to the seasons. Even missing a little rain meant drought and starvation because the crops failed.

What happens when the climate becomes so extreme within a hundred years or so that crops start to fail? The idea that humans won't be affected even by an increase in storms is bizarre. People die all the time to natural disasters even now. We're talking about flooding and storms fucking shit up. It took humans roughly 200,000 years to get to the point of civilization we have now. Some of the worlds population still live like that.

There is no debate whether we caused it. We know we caused it, what's debated is what measures we can take to reduce the impact. Which is why words like renewables come up often. Even the idea that oh 'its not our fault and it doesn't matter' is stupid. We are running out of fossil fuels and need another energy source. Renewable are a great option considering they do not deplete any resources whatsoever and cause no ecological damage or waste like nuclear. There is no moral, or scientific grounds for being against green technology or climate change politics. It's pure skepticism for the sake of skepticism.

Lmao you sure showed me.

Way to completely miss the point of my post.

Personally i think man made climate change is something that exists, but you're a retard if you think someone disagreeing with you means they're big oil shills or uneducated.

So do either of you guys have an actual point to make or are your posts just going to be

Way to let pop culture do your thinking for you, drones.

Oxygen isn't causing global warming, carbon dioxide is. And yes the bell jar experiment there does prove the greenhouse effect. It proves that carbon dioxide raises the temperature. I'm sure it seems like the system is 'complicated' to you but it's actually very easy to understand that burning things (fire) makes smoke (Co2) which makes the planet hotter. Which means more rain, more extreme storms and melting ice caps. Which raises ocean levels.

If you don't understand it, maybe you should keep your opinion to yourself instead of blathering your moronic shit and making yourself look like an idiot to people who actually paid attention in science class.

Both of you homosexuals take this argument some where else you faggots

At least learn your own religion if you're going to be proselytizing, reverend.

So what you're saying is that you don't understand the fact that plant life converts CO2 into O2?

Cancer of the highest degree.

Haha yeah the 'trees'. That's where the argument falls down right. Except we're cutting down and burning all the trees.

It's pretty clear the Earth used to be covered in forests, and man have cut them down to create arable land. That's where the term slash and burn agriculture comes from, it's still practiced today like the Amazonian rainforest.

Trees take carbon dioxide via photosynthesis which puts it into the soil. When you cut a tree down, it can't do that. Logging has occured on a huge scale, many of the forests that existed before the medieval ages no longer exist. With the invention of chainsaws and the industrial revolution, we've cut down even more ancient forests.

So I don't understand what your point even is. Do you even know what 'fossil fuels' are? It's not fossilized dinosaur bones retard. It's fossilized trees. That's why when you burn them, Co2 goes into the atmosphere.

The natural process is for this Co2 to lay dormant in the soil, humans are digging it up and burning it for electricity. Not so much anymore obviously since coal has nearly ran out it is cheaper to burn gas or use nuclear energy or renewables like solar and wind are also increasingly cheap alternatives.

i guess he have just wait and see what happens. odds are the next generation is fucked
wouldnt kill us to find a new energy source, cant explore space with shit batteries or gasoline.

And you don't seem to understand that human activity means logging and industrial mining which produces Co2. If you still can't understand after you've had the entire process explained to you, it's probably because you have a brain defect.

Tell me more about putting CO2 in a jar, retard.

Actually, don't

is right, this is no place for this faggot slapfight.

Sorry, I had to reread this. I misunderstood what you said. You're actually claiming that there are benefits to climate change? Sure. That's why it's called climate change. Here are some of the benefits:

- The ice caps will melt potentially eradicating some arctic/subarctic species which will not adapt.

- The molten ice will raise sea levels potentially flooding thousands of coastal towns and villages around the world. Creating homeless people.

- Extreme weather will manifest because of the increased heat and humidity trapped by the rising Co2 levels.

- Crops will begin to fail as the climate changes and the geographical areas are no longer suitable to growing that kind of crop. For example because of too much rainfall or too little.

- Knock on effect on ecosystems as various animal species that depend on each other starve and disappear.

- As human populations start to starve and wander in search of food civil conflict will erupt, the Syrian refugee crisis being just a taster of what will be to come. As by the time this happens the human population will be many times what it currently is.

- Extreme weather doesn't just mean more rain fall (it will actually cause less rainfall in many areas and those places will become dry dustbowls.) It also means harsher winters, colder with more snow which causes disruption and problems. More extreme summers, with high heat that will bake the ground and potentially kill off less resilient plants and the animals that rely on them.

Given the above scenarios it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the benefits really are not that beneficial. The potential costs range from world-destroying to not very good. Humans have already been responsible directly for the extinction of several species due to carelessness and over-hunting and soon we might have to deal with mass starvations, war and the disease that comes with that many dead bodies.

Yeah by us. Well the 'climate change is alarmism' crowd. It's a serious problem, probably as serious as the threat from nuclear weapons.

Not at all what I said.

It's the leading climate change believers who claimed that global warming would lead to less storms.

At least it was a decade ago. But then the sacred dogma changes every other year so I can't expect anyone to keep up with it

let it go user. This whole discussion is pointless if you refuse to consider the opposition or even my neutral view of the controversy. Remember, i'm just a big oil shill :^)

I just started playing this and it's pretty great. For some reason it's really satisfying to watch all the private traders swarm around your bazaar planet and flood your treasury with merchant bucks.

What's your proposition for fixing it, if I might ask?

I could never justify spending $10 a month for the sub fee on a game that looked like some EVE Online clone, but it's come out on Android now and it's f2p (for Android anyways). You get the access to the entire game, but you get level capped at lv 4 in all of your licenses and can't manufacture Capitol Ships/create a guild. With the gear your able to buy at that time it really doesn't matter at all. You can easily keep up with endgame players if you had more skill in piloting. Also, subbing gives you the ability to create ingame content which is pretty enticing to me.

The game is way more engaging and fast paced than EVE but there are too few players online. PvP is all about skill based dogfights and the physics engine being based off Newtonian physics. I definitely recommend playing with a Bluetooth controller or a mouse/keyboard, but it can be played with the touchscreen alone. Player made plugins are available to fine tune the HUD. If there were more players online it might actually be fun.

If enough players were interested I would even be willing to pay the $10 sub fee to make a guild.

We can't fix it. If Hitler would have won WWII we might have had a chance or perhaps if the monarchies didn't fall but with a weak limp-wristed plutocratic western world and dumbfucks everywhere else we're screwed.

...

eliminate Africa, China, and India
specifically Africa with their growth rates

The feds won't let us attempt to mass produce them.
The societies we live in care more about toilet problems of 0.2% of the population.
And people, rather than looking at the promise of advanced technology fuck it up for their own benefit.
The world as we know it is horrifically sick.

End soon fellow user. We were born in time for the next Dark Age.

For the longest I always thought that guy was Bear grills

Well your first mistake was trusting Jimbo's site for anything.

I don't really see how you could think the story goes nowhere considering how much things ramp up in subsequent books. The events of the first book raise tensions between the three major solar system powers, much of which is explored in the second and third books, and then the opening of the gates adds another level.

The crew is also not "stuck on that ship," it's just the ship they use to go places. A lot of events take place there, of course, but that's like faulting Star Trek because a lot of shit happened on the Enterprise. The fact that the books use multiple viewpoints also helps alleviate that problem, so for example you could be regularly visiting Earth, Mars, a space station, and a fleet, all in one book. And obviously, characters move to new places over the course of a book as well.

I shared your concerns about how I felt the story would go downhill once the gates played into things, but I can honestly say that it didn't. If anything, it only made the solar system more dramatic. While the fourth book pretty much exclusively dealt with one of the alien worlds, the fifth returned to the solar system and showed the major repercussions that the gates opening have had. Some really major events happen and shake everything up even more, along with mysterious things happening with the gates. I'm looking forward to the sixth book to find out what happens next.

Honestly, I at least recommend the first book. Like I said, they're fast reads and they're pretty easy to get hooked on.

Just watched the beginning of Star Trek Renegades

How did Tim Russ fuck up so hard. I really just wanted this one thing

Is Elite Dangerous any good? how does it compare to freelancer or X3?

The ship flying is good, but there wasn't a whole lot to do. Just be a space trucker, or do missions, etc. So if that's all you need go for it.

That being said, I did not pick up Horizons so I don't know if there's any good updates with it or not. What I've seen so far is whatever to me. Honestly, by how Frontier has been doing stuff, it'll probably be cheaper to wait for a few "seasons" (whatever they're calling it) and get it for cheaper. As someone who bought the base game, the expansion shit is jewey to me and I wish I would've waited.

It does have really good audio design and is pretty nice looking in my opinion though.

Nigger Lives Matter is really playing with fire and are probably going to go down in history as the group that started the race war.

Basically this
Wait out a few seasons. It'll be a better game and cheaper.
I have the lifetime season pass and can say that Horizons, while pretty cool, didn't vastly expand the "things to do" in the game. You can just do the same in a different way.
They are always adding new features and improving the game and I do believe that it'll be genuinely fantastic in a couple of years. Perhaps by the same time next year even.

So right now modded X3 is still the most deep and feature rich sandbox spessgaem?

Yes.

And you can enslave/fuck xenos like no man has done before?

hey /space/, I'm having a vacation and only available computer will be shit laptop (think 2005 prebuilt, 1GB RAM, windows xp). Are there some older games which doesn't need recent hardware to run? 3D games are pretty much out of the window

Gal Civ 2 is pretty old, should work with your computer

Original Homeworld

Master of orion 2 and star control 2.

I aid her. Most vigorously.
The unclean parts of her body must be purged.

freelancer is pretty old, maybe it could work?

Starflight.

That high five/four looks awesome.

Is Galactic Civilizations III good yet?

Nope.

...

Is most recent version still dumbed down like the Beta was?

It's bad?
I could swear I heard it was good.
What exactly is bad about it?

Lack of content, Galactic Civ II has it beat.

Today on STO news.

Just as cryptic announces their intention on bringing up a new expansion themed after the original series ST, data miners discover something hideous within the games files.

So, on an unspecified date in the future, we are going to have a new STF where we fight side by side with the infamous Enterprise J and there is also going to be a new lockbox with JJ universe ships in it.
Kelvin, D4 have been confirmed, more on /stog/ about that shit.

>>>/vg/20155

Haven't they raped that game enough?

They gotta beat every last cent out of it they can get.

Also why do all I see in STO is Fedshit? Back when I played they were the most godawful players in existance and whinny redditor cunts. The KDF were literally operator as fuck since they had to be good due to being outnumbered in Open Warzones all the time.I remember piling through STF Elite Grounds with melee weapons in 5 minutes flat like a bunch of rampaging Angry Marines where as a Fedfaggot would literally take 2 hours to discover they needed to remodulate their weapon frequency.

Because majority of the playerbase is fed characters and thus cryptic aims to gain most money by making shitloads of fed ships and some cross faction OP plz nerf ships and then some ships for roms and klinks when ever they make some sorta super ship that has three variants of itself like the odyssey of old.

Seems like it just builds up a massive hatred of Feddit.

Stellaris is boring after the first hours, and the AI will take over your empire anyway because an intergalatic species you still are not centralized and will basically have to give planets to secotrs controlled by the Ai that is god damn awful, so you have to give them the most well developed planets so that they AI does not fuck up. To not forget the only usefull ship are corvettes. You are better of spamming those than making a diverce fleet. Also the diplomacy is lacking, same with internal and intergalatic politics that is compined into a nice influence mana.
But hey they will fix this shallow game with DLC because they love their fans :^) Even then it will turn to shit because the core mecanics are broken to begin with. Just look at what happened to CK2.

Stellaris is basically a casulised version of Distant Worlds and Endless Space, and these game was not really hard to get into in the first place.

From the thumbnail it looked like a dragon in space. Now I'm disappointed this doesn't exist.

Why should it?
Virtually everyone is playing as fed with klingon and romulan alts.

Gotten back into? No
I'm watching what's going on though.

If I could find a group to play with, that doesn't make me donate a shit ton of resources to projects and then leaves before they are completed I might play again.

Nig wut? Ground shit is the worst part of the game.

It hit me in the feels

Fucking nightmare man. That was one of the best arcs of the show.

Ground battles have retroactively become good because at least they don't lag horribly and its not just pure DPS league.

=\

That makes me extremely sad. The space shit in the story missions was the best part of the game for me. If I were to start playing again I think I might make a whole new character because while I already have a level 50 character I'm fairly sure I made him completely wrong (as well as my ship choice).

Well, the lag is really a problem only in any content where you fight alongside several other player ships.

I found out about Pulsar in another thread, but that's some fun shit alright.

I never used a mic in vidya, but it helps immensely here and filling a small role on a crew while you explore planets and fight ships is pretty fucking awesome.

New thread when?
