For the same money, we could have built a moon base.

marketwatch.com/story/it-would-cost-only-10-billion-to-live-on-the-moon-2016-03-17

But I'm sure yet another aircraft carrier was much more important.

Everyone must be in the proper uniform before entering the store. This includes not wearing covers and jackets for security purposes.
The store is operational between the hours of 0900 and 1500.
In order to purchase items in the store you must either have a Navy Cash card, or cash. The store does not accept outside debit or credit cards.
If there is anything that you wish that the store would carry, remember to fill out a suggestion slip, located at the registers.

Wat

For $13 billion we could have robot loli catgirls.

Nice clickbait faggot. Ten billion only gets humans to the moon, it doesn't build the base.

Once they're on the moon they can build it themselves for minimum wage, or even less if they're gardening and self-provisioning. Since you can charge them for oxygen you could even make money in the long run. If the private sector was allowed to do this it would have already happened by now.

Stop fucking making us look stupid. What's with all these posters recently? I can't tell who is being serious or who is being retarded on this board anymore. I know this place attracts tons of underaged kids but fucking hell am I the only real adult left here?

fuck off back to Holla Forums retard weeb

The worst part is is that it may already be obsolete. China has been sinking an awful lot of money into supersonic anti-ship missiles, and may already be able to disable an aircraft carrier.

Capitalism and the free market aren't the same thing.

Aircraft carriers have been obsolete since at least 10 years ago. They only keep building them because uhhh uhhh they show everyone how big your dick is.

As soon as any of these ships would enter a serious engagement a piddly missile is all it takes to send your whole $13b investment to the bottom of the sea. If the US brass had any sense in their heads they'd be spending their money on a whole bunch of smaller ships.

Not that they ever plan to ever get in a real war, US military procurement is all about making corporations rich off public funds.

...

You're not entirely wrong, but this is still capitalism. The companies in the arms industry and the many technology companies they make us of are mostly private, and the way they're in constant expansion is by creating demand through political influence. The state is the only market they have, they can't sell to anyone they wish, so the countries they can sell to need to buy way beyond the point of satisfying necessity. You couldn't have this arrangement without the private enterprise and the market angle.

Shit it doesnt even take sinking one to make it useless all you have to do is render the launching systems useless by putting a big ass hole on the runway or fucking up the steam launchers

Was Eisenhower the wokest president?

Capitalism never fails to disgust me.

Most yanks are militarycucks and totally support this

no actually that was reagan

Starbucks, considered to be a very symbolic cliche symbol of capitalism, is on an overpriced aircraft carrier produced by the strongest imperial power in the world which historically used its capabilities to impose free market capitalism on other third world countries by any means

In other words, you are retarded to not see any relevance dud

I raise you a fake starbucks in a capitalist film about a capitalist themepark, trying to critic capitalism

"Capitalist films" can and should criticize capitalism. To say you're not allowed to criticize a system just because you partake in it is on the same level as "socialists can't have iphones".

Right, but it criticized it cringe inducingly badly

I bet it did. I haven't seen the movie but most criticism of capitalism in pop culture is trite shit

why not mcdonalds?

How would you propose doing this?

Naval artillery, any hostile capital ship that gets within firing range of a carrier gets to rape it, then of course you have air power.

Im saying that a missile or bomb that hits it doesnt even need to be powerful enough to sink just disable it which seems a lot easier to me

Carriers are tools of power projection and not used for actual fighting.

this I think

I dunno, what's the range of a modern F-16?

They always point out the sophistication of the new radar and the smaller radar profile, but aren't the main dangers to the usn submarines?

a carrier can't project power from the bottom of the ocean

yes, rojava and zapatistas sure contributed a whole LOT to technological advancement.

why dont you get off your chinese slave labor-produced laptop and actually work?

I still can't make up my mind on whether Reagan was a good guy or bad guy.

Kys

Wow hmm I never thought of it that way you're right why is it that these mostly rural resistance movements didn't contribute to the arts or science huh I guess socialism really is a sham after all better start reading Mises and Any Rand.

We will need aircraft carriers even in communism. Yes, they're expensive, but think of it this way: we get to inherit all things from capitalism, just like capitalism inherited all things from feudalism. You have to understand aircraft carriers are basically floating cities.

You don't know what you're talking about.

youtu.be/j-qtoSlBp5w

I didnt say they were defenseless. All I said was that they are relatively easy to render ineffective

You still have no idea what that would take. It's almost impossible to sink an American carrier when it's joined by the rest of the group, and they always are.

we don't need an imperial capitalist superpower with a larger military force than most of the rest of the world combined spending more and more resources on excess dickwaving though

go be a contrarian somewhere else

You do realize that there are many world powers designing hypersonic missile systems to do exactly that right?

How you gonna beat reactionaries?

And the US just stopped developing defense systems, right?

The other world powers are putting everything into it, and they aren't catching up. That's not exactly a definition of "easy".

US carrier groups are capable of destroying small nations all by themselves. I would not fuck with one.

I think I had a minor stroke writing that post. Why the fuck did I slow it down to single sentences and separating them like paragraphs? I'm going to sleep, fams, but here's my main point: sinking a carrier is not easy, in fact, it's almost impossible, even for the best equipped militaries.

More important question is: does it have McDonalds and Burger King?

You mean the country where the study of genetics was banned for years and little work was done in statistics because the law of large numbers was considered counter revolutionary?

And beat the West at every step of the space race save the moon landing.

But, yeah, Stalin's pushing of Lysenkoism was retarded, but it's not like Western nations never stifled scientific research for cultural reasons. Creationism was taught as scientific fact in Burgerland schools until 1968.

The Chinese were able to penetrate the defense grid *several times* and the US navy itself was able to sneak past its escort and destroy carriers in a simulation.

That surrounding fleet is less useful than you thought..

1. Due to the military industrial complex a LOT of shit is overpricedm also governments have black budgets where the money is sifted around. A communist society would probably ba more efficient with military development and not hemmorage money building a military
2. You can let the reactionaries stew on Earth while we go to space. Also, promotion of immigration from Eartg to space. Promote SPACE COMMUNISM.

What u got against catgirls

Space is the place. Capitalists' souls are held down by gravity.

I think you mean their lard.

Kropotkin was the first to propose that there are lakes under the ice in Antarctica. Elisee Reclus was one of the most important geographers of all times.

Space colonization is not possible
physics.ucsd.edu/do-the-math/2011/10/why-not-space/

That article says nothing of the sort. Space travel's no bed of roses, certainly, and we haven't gotten up to much of it ever since it stopped being an international pissing contest, but it's definitely possible.

The gist of that piece is more 'don't just assume we can escape into space once we fuck up the Earth because by then it'll probably be too late and humanity will die.' Which is a fine and noble sentiment.

I'm not a greeny, but I respect people who work to stop the destruction of the environment. Capitalism is very clearly the cause of things such as global warming.
I hate seeing this attitude that we're fucking the planet so we need to start colonizing space. What a horrifying concept. Lets fuck the planet that we are evolutionary designed for, move to another and repeat the process.
Before we can go to space we MUST fix all the problems we have here. This is our native planet, we can't let it go to ruin and we sure as hell can't continue this process anywhere else. As much as I'm for space travel, the idea of spreading this cancerous bullshit is not good enough. As long as capitalism exists, I am utterly opposed to colonisation.

Honestly, the solution is to allow the construction of military spaceships and for countries to claim pieces of space.

Seriously, the UN is hampering space exploration by basically turning it into altruistic garbage. We would be having moon-bases now if there was economic gain in having them.

America must expand upwards and conquer the stars! Yeoman space farms and mining cooperatives for all American workers!

Why would we want a moonbase?

Harvesting helium of which we're running dangerously low on

China must expand upwards.
America needs to get rekt
