WildStar

Remember this? What the fuck happened to it? I remember people saying they were jumping ship and then it went F2P or something.

There was a guild called CLANG made on Holla Forums who played around. But its mostly dead. The NA server is lively and there's new content being pumped out.

So people wanted an MMO that was like the old that required a grind to raid and raids that were a challenge and they provided that and then 90% of the userbase realised they didn't actually want that so they quit.

...

I never played it, but I am pretty sure it had deeper problems than "too hardcore".

i wanted it and i played it and i raided and i watched 3/4 of the guild quit because they didn't want this.

quality game.

I did like some of the raids and the complexity of some, but that attunement bullshit where you have to fight timed bosses in specific movement patterns to dodge instakills and basically dance a coordinate ballet around it with at least 40 other people is fucking bullshit. At least now you can just buy the key off other people instead of rallying the entire server to a suicidal, impossible mess of a fight from which half people will die constantly and then ragequit.

the only thing left of this soon to be dead game are the lewds.

Post them?

Fine game but it had NOTHING for the casual player base to sink their teeth into or learn the game properly, so they quit for other games that held their hands and let them mess around at their leisure without the constant "getgud" attitude. FFXIV fills those spots a LOT better even with its garbage combat. If you had a group of people to play with to teach you how to play you had a wonderful time, if you were going in solo you basically never completed shit since people would ditch you the second they realize you're a shitter. If you can't keep casuals playing your f2p game, you're gonna have problems. PVP was some of the most fun I've had, only MMO that actually lets you level with it at a decent rate.

Damn shame really

i must obey those dubs.

The gameplay itself was just mediocre. The PvP was a massive clusterfuck. The PvE boiled down to "don't stand in red, belt out your rotation".

Was just not very fun.
They went halfway between pandering to casuals and pandering to hardcore and ended up making a game for no one.
Not to mention the party finder was complete garbage and didn't work right 75% of the time. That was the only real way to find replacements on anything but raids too

Ignus here.

Game sucked because we went on the PvP server. We did this because we wanted to kill exiles in OW, but the game has no mechanic or even a punish/reward for killing them, in addition to the 'instant warp nearly anywhere' mechanic this game has made open world PVP boring and tedious.

the PvP server was also dead after a few weeks at f2p launch. There was some interesting content and stuff that came with it, but we never got enough people to do our own raids and for the people that got geared up early, getting other people geared up running the same 4-5 dungeons and the same 3-4 adventures gets really boring and tedious. When the only sane way to run these things was doing speedruns, you know that things were not fun.

The Raiding was a joy though. If I could go back to just raiding, I would, however the problem is that people sucked and the pub group we got into never got a concrete time so we never got to terribly far.

We were also getting carried by 1-2 people who were in Datascape raid gear which was a significant boost in DPS/healing/tanking vs. the first raid.

All in all, it was fun while it lasted, but lack of new content, balance and nothing really fun to do with other people, it got real boring real quick.

I do miss you guys, and I hope Yuri was able to keep going and see the end raids. You were a boss healer man and I'd play with you anytime again.

If anyone wants a Wildstar code that still plays, I still have a copy left that'll get you some shit, I'll come back later, but for all intents and purposes, this game went f2p, had a spike then died all over again.

I bet the PvE server is thriving though, which makes me even more upset.

Shit game, shit porn.

Why didn't you just all leave pvp server?

...

Good lord this game got shilled hard back in the day. I've seen this image so much that it's burned into my retinas, and I never played or even cared about it.

Hey Ignus, i'm a DPS from CLANG who played around in Warhound too
If you're cool about me taking the code, i would use it, as i went back to the game a month ago. Arcterra is cool, the whole place is a constant, frenetic boss rush race where killing mobs makes stronger and stronger ones appear in the game world. The vault of the Archon is cool too, a bit too simple, perhaps, but i guess the devs are trying to avoid making stuff like genophage ogmha all over again.

If you're cool about the key, i would give it plenty of use, i went back a few weeks ago to the game.
CLANG is fucking dead, the last person to show up was two months ago.

Oh, it's that game that removed tits becuase feminists cried.

More like they put a placeholder for a few weeks in before allowing sliders for fatter asses.

But yeah push your narrative

Wildstar may have been a disappointment, but I still want to fuck that girl.
They should just make some porn animations of her. I mean, they've already got all the models and stuff that they can use. Probably make more money off it than they did off Wildstar.

fatter asses, fatter stomach, fatter tits, fatter arm, fatter everything
and unless they've changed it again it wasn't sliders, it was 7-12 preset bodies

the game's fun and require you to be active
I just couldn't take the 250+ms I had to the server and almost always being the one trying to catch up to the rest of the group any more
same day I was trying out rotations to try to fix my shit dps
and not to mention the fucking bugs that hadn't been fixed since the first launch like some UI elements dissapearing, autorun not toggling on if set to mouse button 4 or 5 if left or right click was being held down and some other shit which I can't remember now

all in all, I had fun playing with you
cupcakes

I played for a bit but then uninstalled. I lost interest. Has anything changed or is it dead?

...

...

...

and I'm off, see you around
cupcakes

...

It's a shame when that happens, because it it had been a good game we could have gotten even more porn due to the increased popualrity.

it could of should of kinda of shit.
the attune had its problems
classes were terribly balanced.
the first update the one that added a new zone was a load of fun fighting over the phoenix against the dominion and or stealing the kill etc.

come back to it after f2p and literally everything is still the same very few dungeons like 1-2 raids and that was it the end game was pretty crap as well as if you didn't have people that knew how to play dungeons and shit it was gonna be a bad time cause it literally requires basic brain functions which the masses or flood of people coming back did not have.

the combat was good
the general style of the game is pleasing and not just grey and more brown coloring

aurin are cute

It was p2p and not f2p from day one.

And we told you "it's a stupid as fuck idea" and you told us "no way it's gonna keep all the BRs and casuals out", and then the devs listened to you instead of us, and then the game had no numbers and became a ghost townm, and then they were forced to go f2p but didn't plan the entire game around it so it became an unorganized poorly managed shitshow and by then it was too late anyway, and then it died.

And the next MMORPG that tries this shit is gonna come along, and we're gonna tell you the same exact shit, and you're going to be sturbbon and claim that p2p is always the superior model and you're going to be wrong yet again and every single time a dev that isn't the guys behind EVE and FFXIV tries this shit it's going to fail again and again and we're gonna have this conversation looping upon itself over and over until the end of time.

When the universe ends and there's two people left on this dying planet the last p2p MMORPG supporter is still gonna say the same thing "This time it's gonna work man! This time it's gonna be different, you'll see".
As he crumbles into dust and everything fades to black his last words will be "But the BRs, it will keep out all the BRs…".

both server have been merged, take that as you wish

i wanna hug and pet an aurinette

Also, the house building thing was really neat

This is a lie. This is astroturfing.

Get raped.

p2p is the superior model.
But not for shitty fucking games like wildstar. FFXIV seems to be going alright, and it's kind of dull.

Sure bud, i'm sure the next MMORPG that tries it is gonna do great.
It's just around the corner.
Totally didn't happen to the last 50 fucking MMORPGs that tried this shit and won't happen again to the next 50.

A lot of people (plebbit users, goons) are stupid enough to believe that kind of shilling. Just like how people believe blizzard "trolled" the SJWs with the tracer pose rather than the truth which was heavy and rapid back-peddling and damage control.

Man, I really miss that game. The dungeons were rad as fuck, the guild was awesome, and the player housing was the comfiest thing ever.

Such a shame they fucked everything up by having a shitty endgame when they first released and ignored all the bugs. That's what killed the playerbase.

I don't think they'll ever be an MMO as good as Wildstar was mechanically.
RIP Wildstar
RIP Project Gorgon
RIP Nostalrius
Black Desert was shit

its kinda funny that this character appears like only once or twice in the whole Exile game, shit, she isn't even a prominent figure that you run into like a dozen times like the explorer guy and his daughter, or the Mordesh lazarin guy.

Her Dominion equivalent gets killed by the bird people early on at Deradune

FFXIV is doing well mainly because they have a great patch release schedule, especially when the other big p2p MMO has year-long gaps every other year, and those gets are getting larger and larger.
The problem is that they play it too safe, and the combat and menus being on the clunky side.
They need a bigger team, especially enginees to unfuck the menus and combat issues like tickrate and animation bullshit like hallowed ground or benediction.

I feel like Tree of Savior would have gone far better if it were p2p and had at least one more year of development, too, the game was rushed as hell.

Don't forget that some p2p MMOs also have the audacity to sell you those patches $40 a pop. And sometimes even $60.

MMO's nowadays need to court casuals and the grognards, to much into one territory and shit's not gonna work.

SWG was guilty of this with its expansions.

i only bought 2, space was fucking amazing

Gorgon is technically still alive, I think it started requiring a purchase a few months after we noticed it just because it's moving through development.

I always hear about how disappointing Tree of Savior was, what was wrong with it? What did RO have that it didn't?

This.

Open world with nonlinear progression for starters.

Game was fun for a while as a Medic. Ran into to many horrible players that made me ragequit.

Trying to keep up retards across the map alive while keeping tank up was a fucking nightmare. Always was the Medics fault and not the shitty DPS that can't avoid shit or know to come towards the healer, not away.

they fixed it in the end….not that it maters though

It's more about the fact that shitty MMOs go P2P.

P2P is good if the MMO isn't a pile of steaming shit, like WildStar is.

The last 50 MMOs that tried it all sucked donkey dick.

Lots of problems in launch, casuals didn't like the lack of instant-gratification, the ones who stayed are tight-knit community, too bad NCSoft fucking invested millions for a 4-5 development years while not showing for it

Doesn't help they alienated a lot of fucking people and the WoW-casual mentality never fucking went away, Western MMOs are dead.

I remember someone brought up Wildstar's butt animations and I've been trying to find some sort of source on this. Can someone help?

Game was buggy as shit at first. It's really sad because it wasn't entirely the WildStar team's fault, but that the publishers wanted to kick the game out the door before the WoD expansion in WoW, and the game most certainly wasn't ready for that. Granted, part of the reason the game wasn't ready for that was that they kept basically scrapping the entire engine and rebuilding it.

As much of a meme the whole "hardcore" and "cupcakes" thing is, that's not really what made the game bad. Some people just don't like how faux-condescending the narrator was, which is totally fine, and some people just don't actually want an MMO where you have to devote your life to it like it's a job to be moderately successful in raids, which is *also totally fine*. These weren't inherently bad design choices, though, but the execution was god awful, along with how fucking trash class balance was to start with.

To start with, Healer Medics and Tank Engineers had an interaction that made the configuration literally unplayable - Engineers had a Repair Bot that repaired their Shields, and Medics focus entirely on recovering Shields. For some fucking reason, the coding of the game made it so that an Engineer with the Repair Bot out could not be healed by the overwhelming Shield-oriented kit of the Medic whatsoever. The only choices were for the Engineer to not use one of its core mechanics, or for the Medic to DPS instead.

The classes were so bad that one or two months after launch they completely revamped Esper and I think another class. After launch.

Warriors were extremely dominant in PvP because of their cleaving ability; Engineers were extremely dominant DPS in raiding - most of the top tier raiders were running like 80% DPS Engineers and Warriors for a while, with only an Esper and a Spellslinger or two for the buffs/debuffs they bring for Accuracy. Stalkers were the most effective tanks, hands down.

The balancing of gear was a joke. PvP gear was BiS for raiding overall at first. The process of the gear treadmill was insanely unbalanced, too - Medic DPS were thought of as being low-tier at first but it's only because there was literally no pre-raid gear for them to obtain outside of PvP gear. Speaking of Medic DPS, there was a bug where if you jumped at a specific time during one of your attacks, then you would be unable to do any more attacks until you relog.

I didn't mind the Attunement Process, but there was a bug at launch where you could do specific orders of dialogs and permanently lock your character out of obtaining the Attunement Key. There was also a bug that would make it so that Guild Leaders would not have Attuned Keys even after finishing the Attunement process, and the only solution that could be done was for the guild leader to make a new character. WildStar Support could not help for this issue.

A specific race plus Spellslinger (I think Aurin Female Spellslingers) straight up did not have certain animations for attacking.

Malgrove Trail would softlock constantly for no apparent reason.

There was an endgame currency (Elder Crystals or something?) that you had a weekly cap on, like the Tomes in FFXIV. This currency was important for purchasing items that would unlock further slots of character progression for some kind of ability points or something. By default, it would take something like 30 weeks to unlock all of the slots you could unlock, but there was an exploit AT LAUNCH where you could craft a certain item and then sell it to a vendor for the Elder Crystals without it counting to your cap. The people who abused this exploit to unlock everything within the first week were never banned.

If you spent some 100 hours leveling up the Cooking Crafting subset, then you could obtain an exploit that would let you literally print money. I had the autism to do this and by the end of it I had purchased something like 80 CREDD (which someone out there bought for $20 each, worth a month's subscription) and still had several thousand Platinum left over.

Jesus christ and the sad part is I'm only scratching the surface. This is all stuff that was just off the top of my head from like two years ago

Fucking WildStar. I loved it but it was shit

...

I don't think it was this, the only sex related controversy was the boob slider apparently.

It was a shit themepark mmo, like all mmo's of this type, it died.

your ram was broken when you bought it and only wildstar was coded badly enough to hit the bad sectors

really you should be thanking them :^)

Ram ran fine for a long time, bsods started casually when I started playing the game, getting to the point where it was completely impossible to start anything without getting one.

Yeah, it had a fucking memory leak that never got fixed. Even when it went FTP, never fixed. Ran like hot garbage it's whole lifecycle.

Also that frost guy who was the poster boy of the game went on to work for WoW, pretty funny stuff

You're off because FFXIV required you not to suck if you wanted to see all of the content. I wouldn't call most dungeon and raid fights easy.

It's not really fucking compatible with Vanilla WoW in the sense that WoW back then at least gave you something to do other than raid and grind to raid.

Wildstar is basically just challenging raids but without any peripheral distractions or interesting things to do in the rest of the game, aside from maybe personal sandbox player housing.

This really reads exactly as I expected things to go.

Developers that see a thing that people want, but miss the massive complex system that such a thing requires and the whole deal collapsing in on itself.

Raids and MMO's are really mutually exclusive, Raids should only really be in lobby based games rather than large open worlds.

Core game had massive problems.
Basically there was a very set progression and as soon as you hit the next set of classes, all of your older skills were invalidated unless they were buffs/passives because for god knows what reason all damage skills had a "skill damage" which invalidated a lot of the lower ones outside of wonky glitchy interactions.
No player trading outside of the wait 48 hours before you can even see your posting auction house.
An EXP penalty for killing shit above your level as well. so you had to grind in exactly where they wanted you to
like said it was a super linear experience too.
Just a lot of horrible design decisions that could've been fixed but instead weren't

You two are so full of shit. The game did two things wrong for every one thing that was kinda okay. The attunements made the tbc ones look tame in comparison. The world was cool, but there wasn't enough to keep you hooked and stay out in it. Pvp was a fucking joke due to quick time events needed to break snares and other things. It was nothing like old WoW and shit over everything.

well shes just a sexy mascot. shes not lightning

i actually enjoyed what little i played of it, i got one of those trial keys from a friend and another from one of you guys after that other account got banned somehow, thank you very much.
thats about as much enjoyment as i get out of any mmorpgs anyways.

TYRAX HERE, THE GUILD AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS TRANSFERRED TO ENTITY
Binary Betrayer is a faggot and cleaned out 90% of the entire guild bank before he jumped ship

i mean it says it right there in his name

Silver/gold hardmodes were the most fun 5 man content I've experienced since TBC's Heroic Shattered Halls/Alcatraz.

It's been almost a fucking year since the expansion and ffxiv has only gotten 2 major patches. It's fucking pathetic. Heavenward for ffxiv is nearly as bad as warlords of draenor was for wow.

fucking lel

Speaking of dead MMO's, remember this piece of shit? I don't!

pretty much this, its one of the main reasons i stopped.

holy fuck how are the servers still up?

people are still playing this.

Someone tell me why

some people become far to invested in character and time spent on some games that they can't let go.

This is very much the case with something like EQ2 or wow

I have 3 level 100's in WoW I played WoW Vanilla at launch.

I have no qualms leaving a game when the devs clearly are out of touch.

well that explains why everything about legion screams "we cannibalized diablo 3"

the giant faggot in me wants to try demon hunter though, fuck I wish I didnt. its also one of the few expansions to have lore that doesnt make me puke, the last one was cata. pandas and alternate universe can go fuck off.

I think the new xpac is using parts of the alternate universe as baddies.

"They came back with us" deal.

Should have left long ago, Blizz have been out of touch way before WoW characters could get to level 100.

is that how illidan is alive again to teach faggots how to be edgelords? i almost dont mind if it means some cool fights but fuck, its so awful lore wise and probably only being done because they ran out of important characters to make enemies.

Apparently there is now at least one redeemed eredar too. Those demon prince versions of draenai. Blizzard is so out of ideas their cast is just various combinations of corrupted/not corrupted heroes and villains.

To be fair, I hadn't found a game to replace it until the end of MoP.

But these days you can't even just mindlessly grind for stuff for fun or anything. It's either base upkeep/get gear for raids/raid.

It's like they don't even know where the original charm came from, meeting people, pvping and helping others in the world, finding a team in the city, having some long grind you can do with your friends for mats or rep.

They think queues and raids are what makes WoW good, which is stupid

Except that the "humor" and general art direction was shit so nobody enjoyed playing in the world they built.

I am really into sci-fi, but cartoony kid sci-fi is pretty fucking stupid.

At least Black Desert hasn't been a disappointment.

I just thought of the "best" way to end World of Warcraft. "Best" because it would be a cop out putting Bioshock Infinite and Mass Effect 3 combined to shame.

It's so deep. It's like poetry.

I quit because of attunements. Everyone in my guild refused would only do gold runs once they had their attunements done, and would never help people out who still needed theirs.

Since people had to pug half of their group, they figured there was no point in staying in the guild so they quit. Maybe it was better for other guilds or servers, but it was too much bullshit for me to deal with.

All the bugs also pissed me off, like getting a negative cooldown on Bioshell from Bolt Caster because the cooldown reduction went past 0.

Did they ever add any open world content more interesting than more daily quests?

To be fair, leveling to the cap isn't that significant anymore. Sodapoppin hit 100 after 4 hours. What makes someone invested in their character are the titles, kills, mounts and achievements they acquire over the games duration. A turbo casual that has 8 100s and just does pet battles has none of that for example.

Sounds like something I'd expect from Marvel

I legit forgot this game existed until you posted this image.

Usr Eva here, I miss playing with the Holla Forums guild, it is ashamed what happened to the CLANG guild and fuck Binary. Hope you faggots are doing well

FTFY

Hey it's Yuri here. After you left, Oppress went with a different guild and most people in CLANG stopped playing so I joined MVP. I saw a bit of Datascape but stopped playing not long after cause MVP could be pretty annoying and the server was just so dead that it wasn't worth it. I couldn't really do PvP reliably being from Europe either so there wasn't much to do outside of world bosses (which most of the time were nukefests) and running dungeons over and over.

now i can get nostalgic for the past at any time.

That made the opposite of sense to me. They already had models that looked good, at worst the face just needed a geometrically simpler version for final in-game use as opposed to that more complex one for nice looking animations. Making a simpler, less animated version of the face mesh they already had absolutely DOES NOT require turning her into that garbage. That mess has to be the result of making a new version from scratch, and if nothing else, why pay someone to make a new version of an asset they already had? It makes no sense on any level.

that could have been fun, i thought it was until the second map where everything gets slow as fuck to try to sell you pay to win shit.

You guys were gone for 4 months, warhound was dead and there was no sign that the guild would live again, what did you expect me to do? The platinum is still there, and so are most of the runes. I took some stuff to sell it and get me a Pristine Genesis Key, so i could finally fucking raid and bypass the attunement crap.
If CLANG does come back to life, i can pay back, though. i wanna play with people

I was an early opter. I tried to play it but I didn't have a guild. In the beginning, the five man dungeons were fucking impossible to pug. I spent literally dozens of hours trying, never finished any of them.

Glad to see you got to see abit further in. And yeah, I could tell just from the raids we did that fucking MVP was a load of shit.

Hope you're doing well man, you were cool.

I stand by Wildstar being a good game. I enjoyed it immensely and think it's far superior to Guild Wars 2. But in the end, it just didn't have the community needed to keep going.

well it will probably start having a few more players soon due to the 3rd and final relaunch on Steam, so there will be a bunch of new steamfags and the ability to purchase NCoins through steam funbux

Steam release would certainly help if it's true. I'd finally buy some ncoins too. because fuck the Nsoft store.

I never cared about the game. I remember seeing the trailer and being stoked for the flood of new porn, though.

It's probably the reverse. They probably had the model for the game and outsourced the animation for the trailer to a different company.

CLANG?

...

...

You still can. The levelling is still fun and Dominion needs players. 70% of the current population is exile scum but i'm crossing my fingers it'll change with that new steam release. There's a mentoring system where high levels get paid in reputation for mentoring lower levels cahracters, so there's even an incentive to tag along.

It was a good game.

We had some fun times.

I would have stayed, but fuck man there was no content in the game.

WoW's already cannibalizing the best ideas from Wildstar so at least it lives on in some form.>>9276269

I doubt there are any fun Mechari and Draken Onee-sans around anymore…

user, why?
I've given you this in the past

Seriously though, if CLANG were to come back alive, I'd pay back if it means more games together. I acted on the presumption that the guild was dead. I guess we'll see after it comes out on steam and threads become more regular.

So what even set this game apart from all the others? It was billed as a magic bullet to put WoW down (but that's not even needed any more considering their death by inches right now), was this any fun as far as MMO's go? Is there even any point to trying to pick it up from Steam when it goes up or is it purely P2W after that, considering NCSoft is involved I'm already sketchy about it.

I don't think you even know what that abbreviation means
there is nothing you can buy from the cash shop that will let you instantly "win", nothing that will let you magically clear all the adventures, dungeons, raids and PvP battlegrounds

Shit was brutal man.

learn to read.

you should have paid for a better education.
Learn to read.

ANOTHER OVERWATCH THREAD? REALLY? ARE THE MODS GOING TO FUCKING DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?

I know you jest user, but there is an overwatch related thread with an extra beta faggoted op.

learn to reading comprehension what?
the idiot is asking if the game is PAY TO WIN after steam release when you can't pay to win in the first place
you can pay to get cosmetics and after spending e certain amount of good goy coins you will also get a permanent increased XP gain
but if you consider leveling a little bit faster to pay to win the it is
but you can't buy gear and weapon that outperforms what you have to gain from playing the game
fucking retards

you sound like a complete retard.
he asked
and you responded
"I don't think you even know what that abbreviation means"

so basically you can't read and the basic gist of the conversation is
"Is this game P2W"
"YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS KID"

so yes you are literally retarded and cannot read

Brain damage?

I'm fucking sold on this alone. Downloading now

Post your slut when she's finished

the new starting zone is alright i guess

yes, he's asking if the game is pay to win
I question if he know what pay to win is
I then explain that there is no pay to win in the game
are you sure it's not you that have the brain damage you complete fucking retarded twat?

read it again you dumb fucks
let me type it again so you can't miss it, but undoubtedly you'll fucking miss it anyway
THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN BUY FROM THE CASH SHOP THAT WILL LET YOU INSTANTLY "WIN"

not even mad, just fucking baffled at your poor reading comprehension
holy fuck you guys are stupid

You sound retarded.

So is this game worth just killing time in?

fuck you, you fucking niggerloving jewcum guzzling fag

I'd play if there are people to play with but I don't remember anything about the game.

still waiting fgt

wew carbine jewing ncsoft

It was an mmorpg.

No fucking way, seriously?

the sea floor nears.
