I'm in the middle of listening to a series of podcasts about WW1. I'm like 8 hours in and about halfway done. I can honestly say the trailer for battlefield 1 made me really uncomfortable. WW1 was in actuality hell on earth for all the men fighting on the front lines. Seeing that be boiled down to generic shooting video game action while they tout about carrying about realism is probably the worst marketing I've ever seen. It's the closest I've ever come to being someone who said this is offensive please remove it.

But World War 1 have this image, at least in Europe, that it was absolute shite, it was about a bunch of shitstain generals trying to duke it out Napoleonic war style while technology was shitting out more and more abomination of mass destruction, it was about living in a damp hole in the ground getting gangrene and getting shot in the head by your officer because your agony was "damaging to the troop's morale", it was about spending month and millions of lives mounting a retarded charge against both sides artillery just to get back a few hundred meters that your side would loose the next week.
