Mount and Blade

Saw a thread on this the other day and decided to buy it.

how does one mount their warband and procced to blade people?

by dying in the beginning over and over to giant bands who are faster than you until you stop playing.
Tournaments

You're mistaken. This game is about mounting people and blading warbands.

Im enjoying the game so far

Put all your points into intelligence and surgery, recruit swadian peasants, fight looters and forest or mountain bandits for a while until they upgrade, then fight sea raiders for a while for even more money and experience until they upgrade. If you want some easy money early game, pick a faction you hate and raid its villages repeatedly. If you're good, you can try tournaments for some early gold too. Eventually you'll get a huge army of Swadian Knights who can steamroll anything outside of siege battles.

What were they thinking

To make it more balanced, as all balance mods do. :^)

Stack training.
That is to say, put points into the training skill. Find henchmen in pubs.
Have them put points into training. It stacks.

...

Bonerlotrd never ever

Should I get Floris or should I just get Diplomacy+Mercenaries?

Also is Mercenaries that one multiplayer mod or is it something else?

mods do what?

Floris is a big ass mod pack that's mostly bloated with useless shit and fancy animation that I could swear breaks stabbing shit with a spear that changes a lot of things

Diplomacy just adds diplomacy options as well as a few extra gameplay features, and mercenaries I believe is a multiplayer mod but I've never used it

...

This is the reason i stopped floris

Where do I get the dankest weapons in PoP ?
I have plenty of money to spend

get in the oven fuckhead
burn this game

Nova Aestas is such a clusterfuck. It would propably be playable if it concentrated on perfecting a single focus.

I'd rather have those bandits around as prisoner bait later on so I can fund my armies and stuff more. Also manhunters are rolling around to at times keep the bandits in check.

I haven't played with the settings to turn off bandit leaders and all that yet, but honestly those bandit groups banding together later on isn't even that bad. Prisoners galore if you can manage to fight them 1-2 groups at a time, and can easily be avoided since you get the benefit of the pathfinding skill and they don't. Steppe bandits and desert bandits are the only annoying bands to deal with cus they're on horseback and will whack your archers pretty good if you get knocked out and can't give orders.

Overall I really like the mod, especially what it does for you in character creation and helping you with how your troops are listed in tiers, instead of just names. Like I5 for tier 5 infantry.

Why do so many mods have so many fucking bandits/looters/raiders/rebels/whatever you want to call them?

I've been playing Gekokujo lately, it's good except for all the fucking hyper-aggressive rebels that keep attacking me and are swarming all over the map.

I never had problems with rebels in Gekokujo, other than those bullshit teppo monks in bandit hideouts. Even at high levels I needed to be careful not to get perforated when stepping out of cover.

Around Oda, there's a shitload of rebel monks. There's also a bunch of rebels further out East, past Hojo territory.

The problem isn't really so much that they're very strong, so much as they are hyper aggressive and there's an insane amount of them. They'll challenge my party no matter what, even if there's 12 of them and 90 of me. That wouldn't be too much of a problem if there wasn't so many parties of them overall, slowly whittling down my party until all of a sudden I have 40 troops and get unlucky, running into a cluster of 200 of them.

The 6 rules of a new Warband character.
Run when you know you can't win. Not fighting and winning the next day will still mean victory.
Fuck the dead, they can't complain about you taking all of their stuff. Loot the looters and sell all the stuff you don't need.
As long as the difference in numbers is below 4/1 the side with the stronger units will slaughter more units. Above the 4/1 ratio it becomes an even fight.
A few guys with the right equipment can fight off an army, or hold them off for long enough to cause major damage. Always come with more numbers, and better units to any siege.
Win tournaments. All of them. Bet as much money on yourself as you can. Win, win win win win win. Never stop winning the tournaments. You will earn a shitload of money and you will be famous quickly.
Money = Food+wages+weapons+armor. If you can't afford food: Your soldiers will desert and you will be fucked. If you can't afford the wages your soldiers will desert and you will be fucked. If you can't afford weapons you will be ineffective in combat and get rekt. If you can't afford armor, you will get rekt even faster. Get a fucking job, go ask the lords, the guild masters and anyone who has any sort of quest for you.

what about making wine and shit?

here's my pro tip:

grab all your generals right off the bat and run around with a really small band of guys (i usually do just me and my generals). make two of your generals INT monkeys and the rest tanks

work as mercs with this small group and you'll level up real quickly. once you're ready to start your own faction, fill up your party, train your units to their final tier and take your first fief

You know nothing young one.

For the dankest weapons, you need to either beat one of the noldor lords (random drops) or buy the map to Al Aziz (which requires a qualis gem).

Either way, you need to defeat a unique spawned army. Be it a noldor lord or otherwise, I hope you're marshall or king. Otherwise you won't get very far at all.

Buying enterprises is good money, but you want to make a LOT of money before you start investing in them. A dyery costs around 10k and tends to be the best value for money, so you should gather about 50k. Of course, check all the enterprise options in town before you commit. That way you can see which one gets you the most profit.

So how do you make 50k?

Town and lord quests can give a lot of money if you're smart about it. Be smart, of course. Don't accept quests where you need to track someone down if you have shitty tracking skill, that sort of thing. Trade can also be profitable, in particular buying date fruits from the khergit and selling it to most other towns will get you a lot of money. Finally, if you feel strong you can raid a caravan and sell their wares. You'll piss off a kingdom though, try to piss off only one at a time or you'll have nowhere to go.

alright, here's what i did
waging war against sarranids with my army of skeletons
i initially managed to take one of their castles, but after their entire army managed to take it, despite having a garrison of 1100, i gave up trying to take it.
instead i prolonged the war
at this point the sarranids were begging me for peace every day
i started trying to take over durquba
initially i managed to kill half of it's garrison because i had waited a while in order to get at least 60 skeleton knights in my army
but we died once they started getting archer reinforcements. basicly we died while walking down the stairs to fight them
after a few attempts at this i eventually managed to conquer the city, since it's defenses were severely crippled, while my army just kept coming back every time i lost
so then it turns out that the city had over 200 prisoners
i made sure to get the golems, mages, undead/evil troops and any religious unit (clerics, priests)
what happened next was radical. the entire sarranid army attacked my. they were about 1200, we were 200 at most (my army was weak after taking over the city, the prisoners went into the garrison)
obviously i just put all the infantry/cavalry near the ladder
BUT
we had 4 golems there, as well as my skeleton knights
and a few clerics/imams/priests
funny thing is, they can mass aoe heal
so basicly, golems are nigh invincible and are destroying anything that climbs up the ladder, while the priests/clerics heal them
essentially, we lost about 20 people while the enemy lost 400
sadly half of their group was stuck near some pikes and couldn't get near the ladder, while we couldn't shoot them since they were behind rubble
so i had to retreat to reset the battle
second battle went similarly, we killed another 400. problem is that this time they got me
and since i was unconscious i had to let my troops fight alone. sadly the game doesn't take mages/healers into account, so we lost
still, i did kill nearly 1k sarranids
went north, regrouped, came back and took the city again, this time the sarranids had no army so they couldn't do shit. offered me peace and i accepted
problem is that now the undead faction is also attacking me (fucking cunts, i never did anything wrong to them)
luckily when they sieged my city we fucked their shit up royally since any of our religious units can do mass aoe damage to undead units
eventually we get peace with them too
now i'm only left at war with swadia since i was initially serving them when i took the castle from sarranids
i won't bother fighting them for a while though, better to strengthen my defenses while nobody is attacking me

>>>Holla Forums
>>>/plebbit/

Do you guys actually command your army? I haven't played much on higher dificulties, but the only times I actually command them is to tell the cavalry to retreat or tell them to all follow me so we can get on top of a hill.

Pretty much this. Army command is especially pointless if your entire army is Swadian knights.

Depends on what kind of troops I have, but usually I just park my archers on a neat hill, put infantry in front of them and then take the cavalry into a flanking maneuver. If I'm feeling creative, I might circle around the enemy army alone in front of my archers, put horse archers into a separate group and let them run around, or put expendable infrantry into a separate group and send them to slow down the enemy army just in range of the my archers. There's just not enough groups for getting terribly creative and you can't split same types of troops anyway.

Works every time.

Does warband even have a mid game?
I usually try to prolong the mid game but it's non existant.

fugg :DDD
The Noldors drop the gem ?

I only use it to tell my cavalry to follow me, and the rest to just go berserk. I like having a ton of cavalry charging through enemy lines, looping around, and going back through.

I really can't quite get in to the commands well enough to do this. If there were a map based, RTS style unit commands thing I'd be much more into really controlling them to do stuff like this. This does make me want to try really learning the command controls so I can do stuff like this, though.

>>>/gaschamber/

Nothing I mentioned needs very complex commands, just Hold This Position, Follow Me and Charge. Sometimes Advance/Retreat 10 yards if you are too lazy to go to to the location itself to adjust the position of a group or you are cheesing sieges and can't risk going closer yourself to use Hold This Position.

get out of here you cancer
this is a right wing board

in vanilla, no
my swadian knights would just murder everything on heir own

but in any mod that makes the ai use formations and shit, it's a must

you can just hold F1 and a flag will appear, you can move it around and place it where you want your men to go

3 YEARS AND I'M STILL LEARNING HOW TO PLAY THE FUCKING GAME
last year i discover fucking couched lance damage
a week ago i hear that "trainer" stacks
now fucking holding F1. i just thought it was gonna be a new feature in butterlord when i saw it

I had to boot up Warband to see you weren't bullshitting me.

That information would have been useful a few hundred hours earlier.

I'm always surprised to see that kind of message along with the classic "CTRL+SPACE actually speeds up time guise :DDDDD", you have a huge hintbox popping up and telling you so everytime you create a new character.
I'm pretty sure most people browsing this board are clinically retarded anyway.

What kind of toaster you are playing on to be able to see the loading screen hints?

Now try downvoting my comment, faggot.

welp

Only Sarranids and Khergits are human

That's not how it works, my dead plebbit edgelords.

why is the combat so easy even on the hardest difficulties? The AI is pitiful, your move sets are boring (directional combat works in fast games like pvk2, but not this shit), the enemies practically walk into whatever wall of death your weapon is. There's no challenge, no sense of impact. No depth. Bannerlord looks to be the same style sadly.

that's the only part where you're wrong. The combat movesets ARE boring user but you gotta admit it feels satisfying when you slash through someone on horseback on full speed

Also if you hate the combat in mountain blade then you must hate dark souls and bloodbourne combat wherein i would continue to be on your side

...

Jesus fucking Christ

I'm gonna go read the manual

it's a pop-up you sperg.

just set the speed to fastest

Hard to wait for Bannerlord AND a mod that makes it present time (1257 that is)
Playing as Calradia doesn't sound that good
And fucking enemy clipping their attacks between their ally units, pure fucking bullshit, the combat is easy but fucking nuts when facing more than 4
But that's realistic in some way

It's nice until you learn the ropes , but past that mods are a must

Currently rollin' skaven raising a skaven/beastmen army

"Heute Bretonnia, Morgen die Welt

I didn't figure that out until 120hrs in to the game.

The problems with the warhammer mod are balance and the fact that the quests are fucked up

what quests are you talking about ?

So far the deliver X to Y ,escort a carvan/cattle from A to B , get me a prisoner to trade with/release a prisoner from, all seem to work just fine

Well back in the early days they usually had you go from one side of the map to the other with a time limit making sure you fail.

How do I get a bigger army now my friends ? I'm capped at 112 and even though with renown I gain a couple units every week it's not going very fast.
I can't take castles by myself with such a small army and my liege doesn't care about me.
I play PoP so I also want to defeat the huge-ass armies roaming around so I can get the dankest equipment

Goddamn can I give up land in this game? Harlus keeps kiving me shit ive got like 2 cities 3 castles and 2 or 3 villages but he cant hold on to any of his other lords for shit.

He made me marshal and I tried to invade the sultanate but only 1 lord with 30 men showed up. We managed to take a city and 2 castles with my huscarls doing the heavy work but goddamn no other lords will help me and i think its because ive been given so much land

I should mention that nearly all the original lords have abandoned him and I dont want to and ive stopped accepting land from him but he still keepa trying to give it to me. Im not going to accept marshalship next time he offers it as well.

Swadia is basically exists to get curbstomped. It would be a kmiracle if you actually manage to get Swadia out of it's predicament and you would be a god among men.

Defeated most of the nords and taken some of the khegit lands and started making inroads into sarranids but ive had to engange them on open land with knights to stand a chance then come back with huscarls for seiges but not having backup is really fucking annoying

You won't be having back up ever, your pretty much the entire reason Swadia still stands. The fact Harlaus actually gives you land is a testament to how important you are. Normally he just takes the land and gives it to someone else he's desperately trying to hold on to.

Id rather give dhrim back to clais so i could get him to come back if that was possible but I guess if have to find him first. Also if king harlus would offer me halmar that would actually be one id accept because i need a base closer to the front but random lords keep joining amd defecting he never seems to get to doling out land to them quick enough. I just want to go back to a lord whos managing and training my troops and lands but I just dont want to abandon harlus.

Do random lords come to feasts? Could I host a feast and hopefully everyone will come and i can befriend them all? Or do they need to like me in the first place to show up?

git gud
i took entire cities with that number

Admitedly it is more than just a numbers game , you need some luck and the right timing to succeed but such is the nature of the game

hunt some trolls if you want some renown

i must admit i haven't played Prophecy of Pendor but it can't be that different

I don't know lad but the cities and castle are all defended by at least 500 top tier units so even with an elite army I can't do shit.

how late are you exactly in game, what level are you?

Day 319, level 24.
I spent the first half of the game roleplaying as the chief of a small knight group but the empire kept begging for my dick.

pls respond

so how easy/hard is it to make mods?
i had an idea for a singleplayer mod set in africa during shaka zulu's reign
i don't want anything fancy, just the possibility to play as brits with guns or nigger spearchuckers
and of course africa. seriously, why doesn't any mod have the entirety of africa? best i've seen is only the north part

...

Because it would be mostly empty, and nobody likes empty worldmaps. There's already a (MP only) Zulu wars mod.
Anybody here watching Battle of the Nations?

i missed most of it and i'm waiting for them to just post videos of the individual battles
i wanna see the mad serb

i don't know what to tell you man , i'm on day 348 and i already have Skavenblight alongside with it's villages as my fiefs ;i have ~400 troops stationed in town all elite or mercenary units and about ~150 in my army ; my only problem is that for some reason skaven decided to make peace with Bretonnia when the later they only have Couronne and 1 castle left so now i just spend my time trading , building relations and occasionaly raiding some village waiting for the Bretonnia to be dumb enough to launch a counter-attack that will drag the rest of the skaven underworld into war with them so i can be done with them and then start focusing on the Empire

...

is that mod gud?

wow that map is shit.

Is there actually any point in marriage in this game?

cont.

absolutely not, most of the women are ugly anyway

The only perk is roleplaying elements and higher status with specific lords. Everything else they do for you can be handled by someone else

You need to be married to throw feasts which is pretty essential if you want you're ruling and want to keep people happy.

i dont want to rule, i want to help the khergits take over the entire map

fuck, I did get about 8 levels off them though

that was such a god damn ordeal.

On another note, how is PoP? I'm looking for new mods to play

If you are still getting stomped you are still early game. Becomimg a vassal is the very first step.

Right to rule. Not having to sacrifice one of your companions to be a minister.

You need to read the lore before you play PoP. All of it.

Yes, it suffers a little due to balance, but there is an update that we've been waiting for since 2014 that's coming very very very soon so hopefully we'll get a bit more polish and some balance.

moddb.com/mods/warsword-conquest

Legit strategy is to get a horse, and a cavalry able gun and just farm those cock suckers for XP and renown. They hang around Kislev and the Chaos town north of that.

Are there any fantasy mods?

Several.

Jesus Fucking Christ, why?

Politics is the main reason, it makes the AI consider you as part of their family when they make decisions. It also gives you Right to Rule, which makes Lords more likely to join you. For this reason, try to marry into the biggest family you can find.

And the spouses can act as an Item bank which I find pretty useful.

...

5 months, actually. Maybe 6. The update was supposed to come out in November or December, but then they made a poll about if they should release now or later "plus ten days". The fags on the forum voted for later, and here we are in May with no Warsword and why /mbg/ back on halfchan turned "10 more days" into a meme.

You should stay there

Only this much of the Warhammer Fantasy worlds has anything in depth about it.

It's like you don't even like Sigmar

There is no lore to build that area from.

Just make shit up, thanks to Sigmarines there isn't going to be any new lore in the future so fuck it I say.

delete this

Age of Shitmar is the result of just making shit up.

Damn frenchies.
I wish England's marshal wasn't such a shit general.

Update soon !
fuck me

Look into your heart, you know it to be true.

I respect your dubs, however Sigmarines vs Chaos Warriors is essentially after the End Times of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. So the rest of that map is pretty much going to be empty for a long time.

Well.
This just in.
Britain and France have officially declared peace.
Just in case, I need to know how to spark conflict when peace-time lasts a bit too long.

Delete this, age of sigmar never happened

Good. I don't want some guy shoving in his OC Donut Steel factions.

I don't care about OC, but stuffing some of those mountains with Chaos Dwarves or something would be nice.

anyone played vid related? i'm impressed by the fact that it has siege weapons (plus i'm hoping that it's better than bellum imperii)
about to start it

What
Jesus these threads always brings new things

I feel you fam
I didn't know there was a minimap after 2 years of playing it

Post results, I'm interested in this too.

i initially thought it was a mod
my friends looked at me like i was mentally challenged when i asked them about it

let me try and explain in detail what i've experienced so far
1) siege weapons were a bit of a letdown, only an onager (as far as i've seen). immobile, innacurate since it's projectile is slow. kills 2-5 people if it actually hits
2) the ai in this mod is amazing
during the battles, the AI won't just charge at you, or do ranks till both armies get close. most of the time, you'll be seeing the infantry moving in a single group around the field, in order to protect itself. never rushes you if it's too wounded. if it's about to receive reinforcements it moves backwards and leaves archers to try and run away on their own
also, not sure if i was seeing things, but some of the AI were giving their own orders even when i was dead. at one point i saw a command for the cavalry to charge, way after i was already knocked out
also the AI in the map is better too. an example being the dacians. joined them as a freelancer, and they went on a fucking rampage on the roman empire
they kept raiding villages one after another, using their huge numbers to easily take over castles and beat anyone in their path
3) starter options
so far i've tried "gladiator" and "son of patrician"
gladiator was a horrible mistake. it lets you choose a weapon skill and it gets maxed out
but for this, you're released right next to rome, as a roman enemy with no money. good luck surviving every roman attacking you, as well as bandits. on the plus side, if you have a decently sized army with you, and you encounter escaped gladiators (treated as bandits) if you ask them, they might join you for free (ala spartacus)
joining as a son of a rich patrician is easy mode. basicly you start near rome with 20k gold. i instantly went to the emperor, joined rome, got a free village
4) changes on villages and cities
villages can have their own garrisons. this is a huge help
forts/castles have their own markets, which is really handy
guild master is treated as a part of the market, you don't have to find him in the city
cities/forts/castles or whatever have an option to recruit troops in the market. you select whatever is available there (usually i get recruits/stone throwers/veteran archers or warriors). then you can get 1,5,10,50 of them for twice (i think) the usual price. a bit pricy but a very fast way of getting troops since it's unlimited. really easy to abuse if you start with 20k gold
also cities have a small banking option. deposit 1k gold, and eventually it gains interest. haven't tried it. you're also supposed to be able to borrow money from the bank but the option didn't show up for me
5) tournaments are fun, you get random equipment and weapons and maybe a mount
so far i've seen flaming arrows, tridents, swords
mounts are horses/camels/elephants
and the elephants are overpowered since they can knock someone across the room if they hit him while they're moving fast enough
the regular arena is relatively profitable. i beat 10 out of 25 people and got 250 coins. it's reasonable if you're poor
6) minor thing that pretty much changes the game - weapons are all really powerful. the weakest sword will usually do at least 28 slash damage
this means that even the weakest recruit can beat a veteran troop
in my case, i had an army of 140 recruits/stone throwers and i went to raid dacian villages
while i was doing that, one of the dacians shows up with about 80 people
together with his villagers he's got around 130 troops
i positioned all of my stone throwers to hold the line, while the recruits charged
basicly, we won, since the stone throwers usually have 20 ammo, while the enemy only had javelineers as ranged troops, and they only have 2 javelins as ammo
so now essentially you can beat anyone by just having tons of troops
but don't think that better troops are bad
i went to siege one of the dacian castles
it had 210 troops, i had 140
first time i did this, i lost since the enemy had a lot of archers, and the fort is uphill, while we start really far away from it
however, we still managed to get the enemy down to 160 troops
when i lost, i went back to a nearby roman city, recruited only veteran warriors
this time, almost all my troops survived the uphill climb, since they all had shields and could protect each other. the enemy couldn't match the strength of my warriors and soon lost. we only lost about 80 troops, in comparison all the 160 enemy defenders died
and the good old emperor even awards me the city
and when i took it, the daciancs came to take it back
lo and behold, the romans actually came and chased the dacians away

overall, this is the most fun mod i've played in ages

Do you know what greentext is?

Yea, but 50 lines is the limit here and I had a lot to write

Maybe you should've made two posts instead of word vomiting all over the place with no care for formatting.

jews

I thought Bannerlord was announced in 2012

Are there any mods that make the AI better? I'm playing A Clash of Kings right now, joined up with the Targaryens and conquered half of Westeros, but now the AI has fucked itself into a total stalemate. We have both Dragonstone and the Stormlands almost conquered, but the AI is too retarted to finish them off, instead they keep fucking about with the Reach.

There is a broken quest regarding that "secret entrance" it never got fixed or added at all. Same shit with the special spear for King Bard quest.

How do you use the minimap?

backspace. Its the tactical screen and you can click on the map to give orders.

Backspace.

filthy cashuls

what mod is that? castle looks rad

Fuckyes.gif
God I love and hate the AI in this game.

Its a gud game.

Sounds pretty swedish to me. But for a starter that's a solid goal.

I will never ever take ransom money for him. I'll drag him along as we demolish his empire

Better graphics are going to be curse for this game, shit looks pretty enough for the waifu troupe, we're fucking doomed, doomed!

Why is bloating the game with poorly coded, unnecessary shit allowed?

Also, pls recommend me some good mods.

Did you check "load textures on demand" on the launcher? There's a few mods with too many resources so they cannot be pre-loaded unlike the native module.

Native Expansion

Yeah, it's checked. The mod looks like shit anyway, doesn't even have all of westeros.

Is there any single player mod that shifts the combat from melee-heavy to ranged-heavy?

Gekokujo

those nips don't know what a shield is. hope you like dying to teppo rifles

Gekokujo is shit, grorious nippon is 2big4me

Already played Gekokujo. The game feels too depressing to me, if that makes any sense.
How about something in a fantasy settings? I know Phantasy Calradia or whatever has magic but is it the most stable mod or is there any other?

It works, just incomplete.
Most classes don't have special abilities yet, only Paladins and Barbarians.

Perisno is pretty fantasy. There's no magic like Phantasy Calradia but you can ride velociraptors so there's that.

Warsword Conquest if you like Warhammer.

The Last Days of the Third Age for Tolkien fantasy with a "unique" currency system. Plays differently from other mods because your goal is victory for your side (good or evil) instead of victory of a single faction or victory of the player-made faction.

Blood in the West is also Tolkien fantasy but plays more like native would. Treants are assholes.

Is there a "Getting started" or "general tips" guide for this game sort of how there for Vampire the Masquerade and STALKER? Just curious.

Khergits a shit.

Vaegirs best faction.

There was a guide that an user made many moons ago that basically detailed the strengths and weaknesses of the different factions as well as some other useful shit

I might still have it saved somewhere but I'm not sure

Fucking really?

I've been playing since the first game back in 2008 and I didn't know.

Fuck me.

...

If you're playing PoP, there are 2 answers to all of your problems.

CKO's and elves.
If you invest enough time and money, your CKO can even beat elven units, which are powerful as hell.

Archery is OP as hell in PoP. An army of elite archer will MURDER anything.

Warsword's next update can't come soon enough.

Atleast their archers are good, even if runs out of ammo often

aside from the areas north of the wall, is it missing anything else?
i mean, it's still a lot of land whether it has that area or not

Their infantry and knights aren't great but they're fine for the price they cost which is generally less than comparable troops elsewhere. Lack of shields is the biggest issue but that only really hurts in a siege.

Almost every good mod will add some form of buyable item to allow ammo refills in battle. Vaegir archers are the tits in a siege if you can keep them firing.

Shit mod desu.

but muh cloak and dagger politics
and if i'm right, essos is in the game, assuming that that's what you're talking about
are you looking at the wrong mod?

ah, fuck me, i might have gotten the names wrong
but yeah, part of the continent is missing

I conquered the map by just spamming swadian knights.
I was having a lot of fun until I figured out that they're the best fucking units in the game, and then it just got really boring.
What do I do now?
How do I make the game fun again without imposing dumb restrictions like "lol just don't use them".

imgur.com/a/FMAqV
from the dudes over at /mbg/ on halfchan.

play mods?
usually rhodoks should be able to destroy you if they have pikemen

Do people actually use the mouse for combat direction? I thought this was just a meme

if you've played multiplayer, it's the better option since you're also dragging the mouse to rotate yourself, or in other words increase/decrease the time it takes for your weapon to hit
it just comes naturally after that

Somewhere in the middle earth (yes, it's cannon that this is the LOTR universe) shit hit the fan, a massive war between the ancient and elder races left the planet scarse of magic.
After a massive ordeal of Elven removal only a small contingent of Noldor prevailed recluded on the forest of Laria.

On the fertile land of Pendor, a single kind found out that, without the elder races, he could basicly murderfuck every single thing into submission, and thus, the Kingdom of Pendor was founded leaded by the royal family from the Silver Throne of Sarleon for five generations and nearly 200 years.

That was, of course, until the King got AIDS, then the entire royal family got AIDS and they all fucking died. Seeing that the AIDS had ravaged the entire kingdom the barbarian tribes of everywhere decided it was a good moment to invade; and to top it all up every single asshole with political power decided it would be cool if they were king.

In the north, the Mystmountain tribes decided to attack Rane, after being denied from help by every other province a bunch of nordic noblemen took up arms and standed against the threat, successfully repeling them back to the mountains. To reward these noblemen, the earl of Rane decided to found the Knights of the Dragon, the earls of other provinces, however, saw this as an insult since they were way too far up their own asses to actually be of use and requested the Knights of the Dragon to be dissolved, the earl gave them the middle finger, founded his own kingdom and kept the knights as the kingdom's protectors.

A few years later, the non-Roman empire decided to attack from the south destroying everything in their path and killing everything like a plague. Ironicly, a week later the legate recieved a message saying that the Emperor was murdered and the Empire was in civil war, so he took the oportunity to found his own empire, call himself emperor and stay on Pendor.

Also the earl of Sarleon decided to call himself king too, since all the cool kids were doing it (there is literally no viable reason why he did it).

Then, from the north attacked the mandatory viking faction; and, of course, nobody did a shit, so the jews of the Fierdsvaarin decided to try to strike a vargain with them, they gave them the settlements and let them stay on Pendor in exchange of protection and the cease of the murderraping.

And then shit happens, the Noldor get fucked by the Jatu back into Laria after they try to conquer Pendor, and the Dshar were there for whatever reason (no lore of the Dshar)

Good luck, have fun.

Started over in swadia just gonna side with anyone but them later

I feel like I am missing something and the fact that no one ever answers just shows how retarded is my question.

So, if I were to make a huge blob of just my own kingdom, how do I get normal lords to join?
I know of:

Still, 2/5ths of all the mods are jackasses and I end up with more castles than lords. I usually just give each lord one castle and the surrounding villages.
If I take the evil lords too, after each time I conquer something and give the castle (and 2 villages) to a lord, relation drops. It really gets old - capture 1 castle, have a party for 2 weeks. It just sucks.

some enemy lords might get indicted for treason, after which they appear in another faction's capital castle, including yours
you just talk to them and they join you

Yes, there is that. Still doesn't solve the 5/5 of property for 3/5ths of lords who aren't cunts.

just get more companions
mod them into the game if you have to

But what do others do?

I refuse to believe I'm the only one trying to make a huge kingdom with all lands. What do they do? Give 20 castles to their favorite lord? Leave castles empty?

don't the other kings let the lords vote who gets the castle? after which i think they chose whether to agree with the vote or just give it to whomever they like/need
don't know, i'm playing imperia right now, and the emperor has so far given me every castle/city i've conquered, since i'm pretty much winning most of his wars singlehandedly, and he needs me

Why the fuck wouldn't you use mouse direction? Without it you can't reliably spam overhead swings also if you have a polearm and the auto direction decides to stab when an enemy is close to you, then you do almost no damage.

Mouse direction is superior in every single way.

use the keyboard you fuckin idiot
faster and less strenuous than flailing the mouse around like a spastic

except that flailing the mouse around gives you more control as i stated in
git gud knave

fuck off pal

L'aigle is fun but I wish the AI didn't just charge you.

are you brain damaged?
one option gives you more control over your actions
the other option makes you a fucking casual, who may as well be using a controller
have you ever played multiplayer/chivalry? playing either without using the mouse movement is fucking impossible if you want to actually win

how does it give you more control when it's less precise?
are you?

look at the plebeian and laugh, gents.

I also wish there were more options for artillery. Especially for placement, I feel like I just end up shooting through my own men.

read
when you swing, you can rotate towards or against the attack direction, which would either make you reach your target faster/slower
going faster should obviously be used at all times
going slower can be used to confuse the enemy, similar to feints
you're limiting yourself just because you're too fucking blind to use the easily available options

That mouse turn shit is the cancer that killed Chivalry though.

lol

although i agree that knights flailing around and hitting me while i'm standing exactly behind them was a bit retarded, it would still be stupid to not do this just because the concept of "look up or sideways or down" is too hard

Playing in a regiment is fun.

Is there any way to tweak the faction aggressiveness in L'Aigle? The factions are very conservative and it feels like forever before someone declares war on another. I just want to keep killing more French and Russians in this game.

Count your blessings nigger. In Gekokujo there are twenty factions and factions are often at war with five other faction at a time. The last time I played Gekokujo the average village prosperity was 10. I was glad to have each of my villages raided only once every three months.

There's some differences between the two modules though.

It takes much longer to get around to places in L'Aigle, so even at war there wouldn't be as much action due to mapsize. Meanwhile that's why Gekokujo and Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth are clusterfucks to get prosperity in.

Just started a Floris Vaegir playthrough

What should I expect

This the first time playing Floris?

Hammer and top-tier plate armor = Sauron, at about the same level of effectiveness in combat.

Floris is completely unbalanced and completely fun.

That pissed me off, it specifically said i won the right to join the feast and they didn't want to let me in, I ended up bribing the guard to get in too see if there was any dialogue related to the tournament least, there wasn't.

Really?!

I've always played with lances and swords in Floris, this I will defiantly try!

Best game since 2007.

You play by putting points into path finding so you can outrun people smaller than you and raping them to death

On an extra thought from earlier:

How do I get good at being a vassal/lord/king? I managed to get a shitload of castles but none of them were given to me and trying to keep the castles ends up in war against the world.

Be friends with your king and do sieges alone.

...

Try Rome at War if you want that sort of feeling. Has emphasis on polearms, throwing weapons and large armies with Calvary not as good in other mods. Though sieges in this mod are pretty boring due to the lack of complexity.

Do enemies wait forever? For example, if i have 50 heavy infantry on a hill and the enemy has just some cavalry, and they're not attacking because i have the advatage, are they gonna wait forever or charge and get shrekt at some point?

They will stand there for a while, but they'll eventually charge. They auto charge within a certain distance. I've had times where it's been 5-10 minutes before battle actually starts.

Alternatively you can set yourself up a s bait ride a few circles around them and use some bows&arrows to take a couple of them out , that usualy makes them break rank and charge at you , after that it's only a matter of leading them straight back to your army before they knock you unconsious

But user, that's exactly how I locate their positions
That, or their cavalry charging first towards my forward line infantry

...

I do this often, I find that hit and run tactics are quite effective at pissing off their ranks. I had one battle where by carefully choosing where to attack, I was able to break their ranged rank even before the melee rank could catch up.

I usually stand far away behind a rock, shoot and pray. Need to bee a real sniper, but if you drop someone, they usually get angry and attack.

You can edit out things like the relationship penalties for rewarding fiefs using TweakMB. Takes all of 5 seconds and should work with almost any module.

I'm pretty sure the first game didn't even give you the butter knife if you spawned with the bow.

No that IS midgame. Becoming a vassel is usually exactly when midgame starts. You get your first garrison so you have the ability to recruit more troops than your army can hold, which in turn allows you to alternate between training rookies and fighting all out with elites.

Endgame is when you become king and are in the process of conquering all of calridia for yourself. This is the point where you are fighting against 3000 strong armies trying to hold the territories you take and praying to God for a brief peace so you can strengthen your ties to your own vassals before they all desert you and take your land with them.

A lord who defects can't take villages with him, only castles/towns. Give your shitty lords only villages to help mitigate that problem a bit.

Could be a diplomacy thing, but if you ask the other lords for their opinion on who should be granted the next fief then you will RAISE your relation to that lord if you grant the fief to the person they recommend (or the person you convince them to support). Unfortunately you can never please everybody, and it gets impractical when you have 30 lords and the queue wants you to assign minor villages before letting you decide who gets the town that needs a defender NOW.

I also use the (I think diplomacy) settings for eg maximum decentralization, whatever it is that makes the lords happiest. It grants something like 6 extra favor with every single lord who has at least one fief every in-game month. It's slow, but definitely helpful.

Lance's basic attack is good enough if you get just a little bit of speed. If all else fails poke his horse to death.

Has anyone ever tried to be a villain/bandid king yet?

...

doesn't work out very well unless you're playing a mod that lets you forcefully recruit villagers

FINISH THE FUCKING STORY MAN

Forget about me?

Is it worth a pirate?

Wut?
The Noldor are murder-fucking the Jatu.
Jatu are shit in forests and Noldor archers = death.

tell me about the sarranid why dose he wear the mask

Lotta loyalty for a hired mujahid.

perhaps he's wondering why someone would behead a man before throwing him out of the castle

Atleast you can verbally praise Allah. Who are you?

it doesn't matter who we are what matters is your plan
no one cared who i was until i put on the mask

is our plan*

who i fucked this up ?

If I pull that off, will you go to paradise?

i would be extremely vulnerable

Is anyone else getting insane stuttering in combat? Stuff like 4 teams of 4 seem to max my CPU usage, while GPU stays relatively low. I have an i5-3570K so my processor shouldn't be the issue. Removing core 0 from affinity seems to help somewhat, but I still feel this piece of shit shouldn't bottleneck on the processor.

You're a big knight

for thee

not much else to the story, but here goes
>BANG

Just played Warsword for the first time, it's pretty cool.

I kept it easy and made a sharpshooter dwarf, joined King Ironforges army and just fought battles against orks and skaven for a couple of hours. Oddly enough though, on becoming a Thunderer I didn't get a rifle so I had to rely on a pistol I had bought during leave.

lower graphic settings?
it usually depends on the mod, some mods run like shit
the clash of kings mod usually runs at 30-40 fps for me, i'm guessing because it has higher res textures or something+the giant map
meanwhile, stuff like floris evolved works silky smooth 60 fps

I have yet to manage run TLD without massive stuttering and constant crashes. Everything else is nearly silky smooth even in massive battles, but TLD's custom animations apparently rape the game engine.

count to think of it, imperium also has custom animations once the battle ends, but it runs like shit for me all the time, not just when it's playing

I'm only using Diplo. I'm way past the recommended settings too, so the game shouldn't be shitting itself over a ~20 character fight. Any config magic to share?

uh no, i'm running the steam one and i haven't done any magic for it, aside from installing generic overhaul mods
your toaster must be a lot worse than mine

FANTASTIC

Well, it looks like turning multithreading back on along with changing processor affinity did it for me. I'd wager having a shitty processor might even make the game run better since multi-core optimization is apparently Dwarf Fortress -tier.

...

Just bought it on Humble Bundle for $4.99 can't wait to talk about this game with you guys fam!

Lately I've been playing the Stainless Steel mod for Medieval Total War 2. I'm hoping I'll like Mountain Blade: Warband more

Oh yeah can you guys recommend me some good mods?

warsword conquest, phantasy calradia
everything else has too many bandits for newbies

Play vanilla first
Also: crank up the difficulty early on. This should teach you a lesson on picking your fights.

Been playing it quite a bit for the last few hours with the floris mod. Looking to download another one now. Didn't even try vanilla. I'm enjoying it a lot but I'm obv still learning some things. It's getting a little redundant though, and I'm having a hard time finding missions. Also the timing for combat is a little tricky.

Not sure why everyone says there's nothing to compare it to. Imho it reminds me a lot of Sid Meier's Pirates

Pendor tends to fuck you up when you don't calculate pendor style

sid's pirates gets boring after a few hours
try playing the clash of kings mod, i think it had more quests, you start out with a pretty neat little questline, that you're gonna fail at the end

For weapons, ebony longswords are the tightest "normal" shit. They match noldor stuff.

One of the special merchants in the tavern can sell you a map to the mine, where you can buy runic weapons (each costs 1 qualis gem).
For an additional qualis gem + wine, you can upgrade them.

Always go for speed or balance. Power enhancment is kinda pointless given how much damage the weapons already do.
Runic two-handed + speed upgrade = mowing down enemies like grass.

CKO's friend.
Custom Knight Orders are your friend.
Have your best follower train them, equip them with the best equipment (have the knights train a bit before equipping them, since equipment requirements do count) and then unleash hell with your super-knights of ass-kicking.

CKOs takes ages to train and equip.
They are great in the endgame, but they are not really a good way to progess

Yeah I'm enjoying the game so far, but it might get old after a bit. Is there a better way to order your troops around? They're completely fucking stupid. They were pretty worthless before but I just started playing Prophesy of Pendor and they literally don't do anything other than sit at the starting location. If an opponent strikes them they may strike back, but likely won't. Pretty annoying tbh.

I'll try out the Clash of Kings mods, think I read good things about it elsewhere. Do you guys think there is any point in adding any of the DLCs?

f1-f6 for commands, 1-3 (or more) to select infantry/archers/cavalry
backspace to open up the minimap+a gui version of the f1-f6 commands
holding f1 will make a flag apear, and when you release, your units will hold the position of the flag

Yeah I was using those commands, nothing really happened. Didn't want to get too into that mechanic because it sounds cumbersome to order troops around on the fly in the midst of battle. No way to pause it and give orders? It's probably just the PoP mod or maybe I'm just a fucking idiot, who knows. I've been up for two days and popped a bunch of kratom and passion flower hoping to pass out, so I'm a little out of it.

You can always use F1 -> F3 to order your troops to charge. They will abandon formations and just rush at the enemy. It's less effective, but you don't need to bother commanding them in battle

lol pleb, i bet you also stay behind your troops and don't even kill anyone

bump

What mod is that?

It's Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth. Takes place in the mid 16th century during the Portugese colonization of southeast Asia.

...

What mod, and what town? What equipment were you using?

In situations like these, nothing helps more than getting good.

honestly, funny thing is that i could actually take out multiple people alone in gekokujo
shit was rad

I ended up wearing just aa kimono when not in full war just to make those ambushes more cool.

is bannerlord going to be made in python?

I'm torrenting this game for the first time. Is it worth it without mods Holla Forums?

Play with Diplomacy. It's very close to vanilla, but its features are used in almost all mods worth playing and even some paid DLC. It's features are even referenced in the wiki.

Thanks man

Just got the game a short while ago.

Is conquering every kingdom, or even a sizeable chunk a realistic goal at all just playing fairly?

Every lord can stack men far more than you, and very kingdom has a war band full of these stacks.

Replenishing an army takes ages the way you forced to pick recruits from village to village, and training them up even longer, even with the right perks.

Theres vassals who can tag along with you, but once again they need many cities to build a large army at anything near a convenient rate, which seems like a kind of chicken and egg situation.

I've cheesed my way into a city or two by joining a kingdom and swooshing in at the last moment, but thats about it.

Things start snowballing when you get high level enough with high level companions, so you can turd out trained troops for garrison over night and get friendly enough with trustworthy lords, only to get ridiculous when well over the half of the lords are in one or two enemy kingdoms.

...

The natural state of Takeda Clan is a pile of corpses, so that was propably smart. When they fall, you should avenge them with a Clan of your own.

the Satake Clan looks ripe for the picking. They only have one town (which has one of my dyeworks) and two castles left. I'm not sure if I have enough men stocked up to take them yet. The troop quality is lacking too.
I went for 30 int first to max out wound treatment and surgery so I can't do as much heavy lifting as I'd like to. Last time I did a castle siege was a fucking nightmare

In Gekokujo you can really push way above your weight grade in terms of manpower if you exploit tactical retreats during sieges and especially by setting up archer death gauntlets of your own.

Actually, troops in garrisons don't need to be high level at all. In simulated sieges only numbers count. It is best to just load your castles full of recruits.

I don't believe you.

But even if you are right, having high level troops there helps when you need to defend personally.

...

Is Bannerlord gonna make it?

...

...

...

I just only take in honourable lords. Fuck everyone else. When I'm ruler, I can take on just about anyone with my fuckhuge army of knights anyway, lords are mostly just fluff, and tax inefficiency stops mattering after a certain point. Plus, it allows me to distribute lands in a much more even fashion.

To see who is honourable, simply up your own honour. They'll have higher relations with you. You can get it up all the way to 100. You gain 1 point of relation for every 3 points of honour.

I think if your bow skill is low enough, the arrow just turns straight around and hits you in the fucking dick

Doing god's work user

user, that funny thing with CPU usage and temp, how is it called?

One of them is already notorious.

I was anal about that sort of thing. In battle I would wear the best armor I could obtain, a jumonji yari, a tachi, and a bow, but when I was "not expecting a battle" I would just wear a tachi, a wakizashi, and my samurai clothes. I had turned off the random encounters but there was still the occasional bandits I had to deal with by myself. Mount & Blade becomes much more fun when there are no shields and the combat is faster.

I really don't care much for the way shields work in M&B, either. Their mechanics are really boring. Still, it's valid criticism to note that without shield the AI is often too retarded not to turn its troops into pin cushions, like often in Gekokujo.

The fact that Bannerlord moved the time line backwards instead forward into early modern period level of technology bummed me quite a lot because it meant they wouldn't be implementing tight mechanics for mostly shieldless game.

Were you playing on full damage?

How do I get out of this constant cycle of being taken prisoner….I can't raise enough troops before I get attacked and I'm going broke.

I do prefer a game with late medieval technology as opposed to early middle age technology but I am not disappointed with Mount & Blade: Bannerlord's setting. There is an allure to the chaos of a postantiquity collapse. That setting also allows Taleworlds to learn a lot about the mechanics they are trying to perfect. I think a setting with late medieval technology would require more complex game mechanics to implement than a setting with early middle age technology.

Which mod?

That's why I'd really like if the devs did them properly integrated to the game.

I guess I need to wait another decade for Mount & Blade 3: Plate Armour Bogaloo.

You need to get a pathfinder party member that increases your traveling speed and spotting abilities so you can see enemies from farther away.

Also more horse units the better.

probably prophecy of pendor

Fucking Milanese

Plate armour is the ultimate culmination of craftmanship and artistry into something with unsurpassed fusion of form and function.

Chainmail is just some metal junk strapped on a guy.

Enjoy getting tired while the Mongols outmaneuver you

Plate armour flourished in an era where mongols had gone back into being irrelevant goat herders they always were, not to mention puny recurve bows of savages being completely inadequate to penetrate stalwart European bulletproof steel.

Oh you're right, I thought we were talking about Anno 1257, not real life

I didn't get your reference, because I don't think I've ever seen Italian troops in 1257.

half damage because I'm shit

Full damage isn't fun, I want to feel like a hero.

There is no reason to demean chainmail or platemail. They both have been very useful in history. However plate mail is not heavy enough to justify not wearing it if it is available even if one wants to be highly manuverable. You may have noticed how the parts of Europe that the Mongols conquered were the least technologically advanced parts of Europe. That is because the states in the rest of Europe were too techonologically advanced and too powerful in infrastructure to be conquered by the mongols. Despite the fact that the Mongols had conquered china, the greatest state in existence at the time they conquered it, in Europe they faced masters of offensive and defensive warfare. Of course in the 13th century there was not much full platemail in Europe but European armor was the most advanced armor in the world.
