Game Sense guy here, I'm working on the developer guide to Game Sense, and I am planning a sort of census/award thing where I take the reviews and calculate the best games in a specific category. I was thinking there would be one yearly, starting with 2015. The idea is that gamers can make an award based entirely on reviews. If it is successful enough, I want to do more niche things, like best NES game. I think there is some confusion a bit about when you can write reviews. If you see a preview or something on youtube, you can just go to Game Sense and write how you feel about the preview. Same thing with smaller stuff like music. You guys interested? I am thinking an image to pass around explaining what it is and what will happen, and to try and get some real award type things going that are directly done by gamers, and not stupid voting that gets manipulated in a popularity contest, but legitimate reviews.

Golden though has a terrible event on Valentines Day where you can only spend time with one and you have a fully voiced cutscene with each girl you reject as they break down in tears, most of them figuring out the reason why. The combat and dungeons are mediocre, its the meticulos micromanaging your days that is anoying. Be prepared to not go for perfect games on playthrough 1 for p3 and p4.

Gameplay of the series have turn based battles. In all of them you're stuck in one town for the most part, and visit places in one town.

Half the game is similar to a "sim". Where you get a job, earn money, take part in activities and school, and build up relationships (which helps you get more powerful for the other half). You have to manage your days. Though it's not detrimental if you're not good at it.

The other half of the game is dungeon crawling, persona collecting/fusing, sidequests, battling and whatnot.

One more bit of advice. Persona 4 has a true ending. The story focuses around a murder mystery and you need to finger the right suspect to get one stage of the true ending (other events trigger it too).

If you don't want to look up how to get the true ending, and want to try and work it out yourself (hint, there are no plot holes, if there feels like a loose end, there's a reason for it), make a second save file on November 1st that you can come back to if you screw up

I played through both 1 AND 2, you pretentious fucks. It was a labor of love. It wasn't hard so much as tedious. With Persona 1 there was nothing to reward that work because the characters suck and the story is not much better. P2 actually DOES have a fantastic story AND characters.

However, the fact remains that they do not, in any way, resemble what Persona is now, and since he was asking about P5, they really don't matter, since Persona as it exists now basically started with P3. I told him to watch P2 out of respect for one of the best RPG stories of all time. But no, for the most part it has basically nothing to do with the series now and yes, a good deal of its mechanics are dated as fuck.

Reviews written by gamers. You guys would write the reviews and I would do some calculations on the review data and return the most liked games given a category. It wouldn't be based off of reviews from other sites, it'd be based off of reviews gamers write on Game Sense.

So basically, gamers write reviews on Game Sense, the score gets calculated, then Game Sense would calculate results from that for specific categories, like release year, platform, etc. The idea is that gamers pick what's the best by writing reviews and voting on reviews or with the star rating. And the fact that reviews have to be focused on something about the game, low quality reviews like
don't really do much, and if they're bad enough marketingspeak/shilling and someone reports it, it'll get deleted. (I'm working on outlining clear moderation rules as well).

Game Sense hasn't taken a penny or review samples from any developers or interest groups or anything, it'd basically be a raw "here's what gamers reviewed, here's what they think is the best" type of deal. And the results would be based entirely off of gamer reviews written on Game Sense. The idea is to have a real gamer choice award that are actually gamer's choices, not only gamer's choice in name. I was thinking of calling it a Game Sense Game Census (maybe even just Game Census) or something, it's pretty clear no one actually believes a "gamer's choice" award has anything to do with gamers choosing anything. I have no horses in the race, whoever wins, wins. I would like it to be an award that actually matters and has merit. Given how there's a few games people have reviewed that look really good (like Dino Island) that have been overlooked, I think the results would be very good.

It would be very obvious the way reviews work on Game Sense. Instead of being generic reviews, they have to focus on something explicit about the game, and then people categorize them to what they fit best. For example, if you are playing a game, and a level is really bad or really good, you would write about that level and why it's bad or good, categorize it, and then submit it. Generic reviews aren't allowed, it has to actually be something about the game that other people can test and see. There are some review sites out there for things besides games where it lists the cons and pros of something side by side. It's sort of like that, but on steroids.

I've got a few things that look for suspicious behavior and to prevent that sort of stuff, I did a bunch of research on fake reviews. There's a few mechanisms in place to prevent abuse, and if someone sneaks something past me, it'll be taken care of.

Game Sense also has a sponsored content filter, which detects buzz words and blocks you from posting that review if you use too many of them. It uses AI, so it can be adapted to changes in shilling. To be honest, something like the silky smooth crap example review I posted wouldn't even make it past the filters. It should be very time consuming for someone to want to mess with Game Sense scores. They would more than likely need custom scripts, and as soon as they got one, I'd just change some things and they'd have to fix their script.

WWI was a shitstorm caused by two countries, each with lots of friends, going to war and dragging their friends into it. There weren't any clear-cut "bad guys" (other than the Black Hand), everything was just a tragic story of normal countries warring against others to honor their alliances. It's a great setting if you want a nuanced and morally ambiguous story, but that takes more time, effort, and money to set up than the WWII "Krauts and/or Japs trying to kill you, kill them back"
