Now the vocals seem to match well with the piano behind it. The guitar seemed too focused in its notes, which didn't match well with the more free flow of the vocals. With the smoothness of the piano, it gave more leeway for the vocals and thus making it sound better. Though I haven't touched an instrument in a while so I don't know if that is really the case or if it's just my taste.

I agree but I also disagree.
The lack of exclusivity means you must make your development more generalized.
Because you must make it more generalized, you are never going to start trying to squeeze the hardware for all its worth.
You would think they would have a preferred system to develop on but that would mean they would get bad word of mouth on that given system and we don't want that when we're trying to keep up reputation.
The exception seems to be in PC because it seems like PC is just written off as going to have bad ports and they will be a crap shoot.

But considering consoles are the focus, you have to consider that their differences are ever so slight but enough to not make any given developer prefer one or the other when they're working on them.
The one exception to that is Nintendo.

This is where I think Nintendo is a bit ahead of the game. When you work on a nintendo system your specs are just so wildly different from everywhere else that you're not really concerned with porting the game. You can focus on squeezing the hardware then.

And of course nobody but indie devs give a single fuck about developing for the PC first.

Consider euthanasia.
