Does anybody here actually think Human Revolution is a good game?
Does anybody here actually think Human Revolution is a good game?
Yeah.
Yep
Yeh.
Yes
Mhmm.
Aye.
Uh huh
Ye
Oh yeah.
Sure.
Sure
...
Yeah, it's ok.
For what it was? I had fun with it.
Still doesn't hold a candle to the original, but compared to everything else out there at the time? It wins by simple virtue of being relatively competent and fun.
Eh
...
It was all right
Mhmm
It's a good game, user. Not perfect, but, good.
It's been a long time since I actually had fun playing vidya.
Sure, why not?
Yes.
It's not close to the level of the original but it's a good game.
Too bad they've gone into super kike mode with the new game.
You tried twice, but I'm still checking your triples as I agree with your assessment.
ye
It was alright.
Ja
I do. Depends on the gameplay style I guess. My style was hard difficulty level, stealthy (checkpoint if detected), and 100% pacifist (even rescuing Malik). Dishonored was fun in the same way, otherwise it could have been boring, idk, didn't try any other way.
ddduuudddeee weeed ayyy lmao
Sorry!
I thought it was okay for what it was
The fact that it's supposed to be a Deus Ex game makes it seem shittier, but judging it on its own merit it's not bad
I'd say a 6/10, had fun when I played it but even after all these years I still have no desire to replay it whatsoever and I probably never will
It was pretty damn good. Certainly nowhere near the original.
XP was a bad idea, especially if you were doing a combat run. Stealth was the obvious choice considering how easier it was compared to fighting, not to mention all the XP bonuses you got.
Bosses sucked but I feel that is the case with the first anyway. Takedowns are a nice gimmick but I really miss melee weapons. Jensen has the damn blades in his arms, why can't we just use them or even our fists?
I think MD is going to be the straw that breaks the back though. Looks too casual, even for the new Deus Ex and level design seems much more like corridors with some brief side paths.
Not really
Yeah.
The upgrade system is kind of skewed, though. I get that they want to reward players who go for a more challenging approach, but that difficulty vanishes the second you get dual takedowns and enhanced cloaking/more batteries.
At that point you're just slam dunking cyborgs while chewing energy bars.
The Akira laser weapon was super cool, though highly useless.
not really
If you keep one for the final boss then you can shoot it straight through the glass shield and cheese the fuck out of it. Useless other than that though.
I thought it was okay. Didn't like how it was so no-backtracking-at-all linear for the the most part, and buying additional batteries seemed like a real gyp when they didn't auto-recharge.
Also, classic case of game gives you some big choice at the end, but none of the options are the thing I wanted to do.
It wasn't great like the original, but it was a fun ride.
s'cool
It took me longer to beat it with lethals enabled because I'm fucking trash
yes
Да.
Yeah I liked it alot.
I murdered everyone in the hub when they outlived their purpose, I merely accelerated their fate.
In all honesty it was shit.
Yes
Yeah, it wasn't bad.
It shat all over what Deus Ex was originally about, putting in a caricature of Filter King that talks about real life conspiracies (thus discrediting/ridiculing them) while putting in some boring ass fictional conspiracy.
And also it had muh stronk independent womynz femitrash.
Original Deus Ex was an eye opener, this was just shit.
Gameplay is atrocious
especially if you're stuck trying to aim with a controler and the city mazes without traffic or anything feel barren and tedious sprinting from marker to marker, flat .jpeg backdrops yet somehow the story and voice acting makes up for all shortcomings.
Yes
Well there's your problem
It's not really an FPS though.
Still pretty doubtful a stealth playthrough with m+k would feel that much more rewarding considering you're only moving in patterns that were layed out for you by some level designer who's rubbing his hands together in glee thinking about all the sad little suckers doing exactly what he wants, how he wants.
Best game from last gen, mate.
it was ok
It was fine, the initial playthrough was far more satisfying, as the game's issues become more apparent with each consecutive playthrough. The last 1/3 of the game only culminates into an ever growing shit stain, with the quality worsening, and the game becomes a trudge from that point on. At the same point the story begins to fall apart, becoming more ridiculous by the moment, and the ending is just fucking pointless.
The final area is seriously tantamount to everything wrong with the game, both story and gameplay-wise. Android super Aid zombies, barren wasteland, and heavy deus ex machina. Now I have no drives to play the game anymore, I have seen all the game has to offer, and I'm exhausted.
It's not a great game, but it's definitively a good game.
Good, yes. The first one is great, however.
Sure, I guess.
It was decent at best honestly. It's the reason i haven't bothered to download the original Dues Ex
Eh, it was alright. Never played any Deus Ex-games and didn't know what to expect. Had a decent time playing through it. Thought they boss-fights was just tedious, not that fun or challenging.
Didn't like any of the choices at the end either. And the game was kinda hard to get into, the first time i tried it, it wasn't until months later i really decided to pick it up and really give it a go, the beginning was just not engaging at all.
Oh, btw, hate in-game-tutorials.
Why can't i read the tutorial in a manual if i'm a noob and don't have to go through some boring ass tutorial which makes me feel like a child?
Yeah rip.
No, it was a better game than people were expecting so it wasn't completely shit on.
Hard to play through a second time though.
A good game?
Sure.
A great game or a game as good as DX1?
Not even close.
It was OK, some serious level design issues and pretty shallow mechanics. Stealth was a joke.
How?
And where's the Malik porn user?
In what way?
Megan was a bitch and a traitor who performed illegal tests on you without your knowledge. She's also unable to keep a relationship down and her mother heavily hints that Adam was a positive influence in her life.
Malik was competent at what she did without being particularly strong (i.e. still being feminine). Indeed she sucked ass in combat and will die without help. Her competence was partly based on augs too.
There's the boss you fight but she again relies on augs and actually goes for subtlety over brute force (cloaks and shit). Tumblr-tier haircut, I suppose but otherwise I see no issue.
There's the chinese woman but again she fails to fight you in any reasonable form and only ends up as the final boss by default when everyone else is removed from influence. Indeed she relies heavily on playing up her vulnerable woman shit to escape Adam in that one cutscene where he acts like an idiot.
Then finally you've got a fucking hologram who is neither male nor female.
The only other female characters I can think of are the black hobo informant, Megan's Mother, the slut in debt to the Triads and the scientist you rescue from the underwater lab. None of them do anything particularly notable. Maybe you can count the captain from The Missing Link but she again relies on Adam's help and is actually being manipulated by one of the groups.
I'll agree it was a little light on the reasonable conspiracies though it did, at least, point out how a tech 'recall' or 'upgrade' can be abused.
Sorry user, this is as close as I've got
story is alright, but gameplay is super tight.
...
Even in its shitty consolized form, Deus Ex still predicts the future.
Don't forget the bullshit on the 'Internet of Things'.
It was alright
bullshit and fuck you for saying that
I just want to snuggle Malik
Everything about her is right in my strike zone
Is pretty good. The only major flaw is that boss battles fuck over non-lethal and stealthy players.
At the very least they'll do a Max Payne 3 and leave it out of the story entirely.
I'm pretty sure she's confirmed not to show up in the next game anyway.
All this talk about Deus Ex reminds me just how unbe-fucking-lievably great the first one is.
As for HR, I was expecting it to be shit but I found it surprisingly good. That being said, I'm going to re-play the original for the millionth fucking time instead of beating HR for a third.
I'm going to play Deus Ex until I'm on my death bed, not even kidding.
By the way Holla Forums, I've never got past the second mission on IW
Should I get it together and beat that game one of these days?
It gets better as it goes and really isn't much worse than HR. Certainly the last mission doesn't shit the bed quite as much.
Probably the best thing it did was the NG Resonance hologram idea.
Oh and if you're of the Holla Forums persuasion (I'm not) I'd imagine the Templars and the general showing of the downsides of transhumanism might appeal. Certainly their leader makes some good points which could have been developed a lot more if they didn't suffer from the same issue as Caesar's Legion (being the bad guys up until an arbitrary point near the end).
I am of the Holla Forums persuasion and I think every ending is shit, except probably the Tracer Tong one, mainly because you blow the shit out of Area 51.
she had no personality anyway
I liked it. It was ok.
The best Robocop game there ever was.
Best movie remake, too.
I was talking about Invisible War user not DX1.
In IW Tong advocates the Denton's route of forced world-wide augmentation and subsequent unity of minds and claims his younger self was too idealistic and rash.
Your other options are to join the Illuminati and control the world in a (possibly) benevolent dictatorship, join the Templars and go for human purity above all (they end biomods without hurting those augmented) or go independent and fuck up everyone. Last option makes the Omar (cyborgs with collective conciousness) take over but IC you wouldn't know that.
If you actually listen to what the Templar leader says he's fairly well educated. It's a shame they mostly come across as generic Nazis.
More than the average moeshit waifu or at the very least as much. For the amount of time she's on screen it's plenty.
most "moeshit waifu" characters have defining character traits that set them apart from one another, malik had none.
Jock was a much more enjoyable character to have around.
Well, let's ASSUME that's the case, in which, I guess i'd choose Independent, no one should be allowed to hold that much power, though Templars do have a good idea, may side with them if they do not outright try and sotp any sort of technological advancements.
Yes, but it's still vastly inferior to the original Deus Ex.
I actually loved it mainly for the setting but the character relationship between Adam and making was really fun and sarif was a fun guy, the design was off the charts and the directors commentary was a really nice feature more games need.
it's a fucking shame Fquare Enix had tome come around and fuck it up but it was a solid game and i love every bit of it.
Most moeshit waifus are just clichés with one character trait that dominates their every action. Malik was a professional with a hint of deeper shit which was appropriate for her role. I've got much more respect for a woman that doesn't let her personality or vagina affect her work.
She's also fairly attractive so there's that.
True but he also had a lot more screen-time.
It's somewhat confusing as to what they really stand for.
Half the time they just want to keep humanity pure and equal. They'll even let bio-modified people repent and work with them. Their leader quotes more pragmatic philosophers and seems to be truer to the ideals of the Order than the original founder. They also develop advanced armour and weapons to make up for the power of the biomodified troops they fight so they're hardly stagnant.
The other half is GAS/HANG THE FUCKERS, LUDDITE REVOLUTION NOW. The ending quite literally has them hanging people in a church which doesn't match how they're portrayed in game.
Problem is that lets the Omar win and they are known to force people to cyborg up. IC though you wouldn't know they'd win as the man advocating independence was manipulated by them (and even hated them as a group).
You forgot the conversation 'battles'. Best part of the game unless you rely on the aug for social shit.
yeah sure, it was good for what it was.
I liked Human Revolution (´;ω;`)
You're right, the comversation battles were really fucking nice, especially the taggart one, it's a shame the convention hall wasn't used for anything else because that place has a really nice carpet.
God damn i could wank all day about the deign of the areas
First game didn't have bosses. Just occasionally named NPCs who died just as easily as the regular guards.
Deus Ex is not a game which needs boss fights, that's something the first game understood and benefited immensely from it.
That's what you think you Flatlander Woman
HR really strikes me as a game with competent devs held back by silly publishers and, perhaps, the limits of putting the game on consoles also.
Additionally I wonder if it wouldn't have worked better as a standalone IP taking inspiration from the first game. The focus on non-lethal and stealth runs seemed to be the influence of business suits that only had second-hand descriptions of why people loved DX to go on. Non-lethality as an option isn't what was popular it was the fact that the game left how to play up to the player. Hell DX stops caring about lethal vs non-lethal after the first level or two.
IW actually keeps better track of how non-lethal you are since killing bosses non-lethally in DX (or avoiding them outright) generally counts them as dead or forces them to die via explosions.
Gunther and Anna had two fights you really shouldn't have been able to avoid. The game assumes you killed them even if you run past them. While it's true they die fairly easily it's also a little harder than your average battle.
Now HR went overboard with it's bosses but to claim DX1 didn't expect you to have to fight also is bullshit.
...
Or to expand on this:
HR lets you go non-lethal or lethal, stealth (vents, roof) or open (front door) but punishes you for mixing styles or indeed for playing lethally. It's a binary choice.
DX gives you some tools and lets you do whatever. Instead of one stealth path and one open path there are normally 3-4 routes with crossovers and subpaths all over. The game does not enforce or reward playstyles, the player's experience or set limits on who JC is does that.
IW is actually often better than HR at doing multiple paths too. In addition to not forcing non-lethal shit it gives you things like different entrance points and multiple ways to finish an objective rather than HR's 'pass or fail'.
Well I never said anything about not having to fight them.
But yes, I wouldn't call them boss fights just because they can take a beating a little better than the regular grunts.
I do
What does make a bossfight then?
The only difference between them and HR's bossfights is the ability to skip them (arguably a glitch or at least unintentionally) and the fact HR's fights take place in actual 'arenas'. It is, perhaps, more realistic to have a bossfight take place in a generic corridor than a planned area but from a gameplay pov it's less fun.
The similar AI to the average grunt is a limit of the game rather than an intentional design choice.
this
>tfw no Malik to snuggle and fuggle
Nah, it's fantastic for just speed-clearing later levels by killing guards that are in completely different rooms.
I'd say the most obvious difference is them not having enough health to make the conflict significant enough to be considered a bossfight.
In fact that's pretty much the defining trait of a bossfight, give an enemy enough health to take a beating so that they stand out from the others and you can expect a playerbase to consider them as a boss.
see it might just be me, i've done lethal and non lathal playthroughs and mix and matched playthroughs but i feel they dont punish you that severley, not enough to impact my decisions too much, but non lethal is actually made easier in most cases to accomplish than lethal in the way of rewards, and execution through the way buttons are assigned to specific actions like the non lethal take down for example, which is a button press not a button hold, it's quicker to accomplish which takes less effort with the same outcome only you get more XP
I find that regardless of how you play through the game gives you enough options through dialogue trees to redeem your self and play through as if you hadn't murdered a bunch of people but specifically in the DLC on the boat and then the black site, i enjoyed how much people lambased me for killing people on my first playthrough however, i mainly did that because my drive was to secure areas so i could listen to the directors commentary without interruption from firefights and so i could activate them without worry for detection.
weather or not i actually got rid of a really nice reward is beyond my knowledge because i've only played through the directors cut once.
i found that the boss battles in the directors cut felt more fleeshed out too which is a shame because i doubt many people actually played it. i'd say that's the definitive experience because of the DLC which really out does itself and expands on how deep the rabbit hole goes.
ah, a fan of mudslimes
well, when your prerequisites for a good female character is just "doesn't let her vagina affect her work" then you've set the bar pretty low, as far as standards go.
Like I said, moeshit waifu characters at least have a semblance of personality, regardless of how cliche it is.
Mudslimes are Caucasoid. Nips are Mongoloid.
we're talking cute cartoon characters here
Desperate.
your turn
Fair enough though they still have a fair bit of HP. It's just easier to have a high damage build in DX than HR or IW.
Not really.
D U B S !!
I do, but in comparison to the original Deus Ex, the original beats human revolution in a good amount of ways.
The story of both were about unveiling these massive conspiracies.
Deus Ex original had the stronger story due to it being very similar to the real world.
HR had you, a security detail in Sarif's augmentation company doing jobs and investigating who would attack Sarif Industries and dishing out revenge.
The leveling system in both games focused on giving you EXP through completing missions.
Deus Ex original focused on improving your proficiency with certain weapons and items, swimming, and hacking. Augmentations were unlocked using canisters and a medbot, you could only pick one augment per body part but you had two options on that body part.
HR's level up system only focused on unlocking augments, hacking, and buffs on your unlocked augmentations instead of your character's skill with items and shit.
Nothing in HR really stood out besides the black hobo woman that went SHEEEIIIIIT CAP'N!
I don't. It's a shit game. This is reddit 3.0. So plenty of cum breath, shit eating faggots here.
Have you seen an actual mosselwensch before? Completely different.
This. I've always been surprised how few other games tried to mimmick the DX style.
It's extremely comfy.
/thread
It's basically the last game by triple a, from my perspective, where you could see developer written e-mails and family photos in the game, so everyone here actually kind of respects it for what it is, even if it had the job of following up on Deus Ex 1.
It's nice.
I enjoyed it.
It's certainly not perfect but it's one of the only "modernized classic" games where the devs seemed to have a handle on what people liked about the original and made an honest go at extending that.
Human revolution is good, but mankind divided looks like it's gonna be shit
Adam and who?
If you mean Pritchard, Malik, Sarif or Taggart, I completely agree. If you mean anyone else I still probably agree.
I can't get over how well structured and how well written they all were. Those clashes alone were worth the game's price for me.
Thankfully the rest of the game was very good. Not Deus Ex levels - and I don't think a modern AAA game can ever reach Deus Ex levels thanks to development costs and publisher decisions - but it was arguably as close as they could have gotten.
I liked it, specializing as a nonlethal stealth aug made the first boss pretty difficult.
Hacking trivializes the game
Exploding revolver trivializes fights
CASIE trivializes social encounters
Malik a qt who also manages to be a compelling character with some semblance of human thoughts and emotions with limited dialogue. While I understand Darrow's thoughts, he wasn't able to accept that he couldn't change the world any further. He opened the aug worm can and he can't close it back up.
Megan's work made maintaining augs even easier. Nothing could have been done at that point.
The bane ending was the best.
I'm crashing this facility with no survivors.
8/10
Didn't find the "conversation battles" appropriate at all.
Between Tong giving gamey off-camera looks, and Adam bringing a cop to tears, it was rather a needless mechanic.
Despite having the social upgrade, no less.
It's too bad they weren't developed as much as the ones in DX1.
What about Project Snowblind?
Yeah, it wasn't flawless, but it was nice.
Holla Forums are you ok ?
why are suddenly relaxed ?
this is disturbing
It's ok.
I liked it. Yes it had flaws and two of my biggest concerns was the weird feeling guns and aiming and not being able to play with a fully augmented Adam. In other games my accuracy is pretty decent but for some reason I can't reliably hit my targets. Maybe the hitboxes are weird or maybe my brain gets drowned in all the piss. I get how choosing your augs wisely can be a worthwhile mechanic but it just feels like wasted potential not being able to run around as what the human purists really fear. I hear the director's cut version lets you keep unlocks on NG+ but I already have the original and Missing Link and I'm not going to buy the same game twice. The energy system was bullshit too and you should have been able to recharge all your batteries instead of relying on replenishing items of which there were a finite amount you could ever have.
Pic unrelated but reminds me of a mix between HR and Mirror's Edge.
My favourite part was going full sweet talking James Bond with a silenced pistol and stabbing heavies in the dick.
It was sufficient
not as good as dude sex: el classico but it was competently made and I grew to like the yellow aesthetic after awhile, it made the game stand out quite a bit.
>Friend tells me I should play it because muh cyberpunk A E S T H E T I C S
Help a faggot out?
It took me like 7 seconds including page loads to find a well-seeded HR director's cut torrent.
You clearly put zero effort into searching, so I'm not going to spoon feed you. Go buy it, fag.
Good for you user, have a nice day.
It's on public trackers. also on igg
I am having some difficulties finding links that aren't nuked and seedless torrents
would you kindly give me a working link?
igg-games.com
...
...
I feel like it's 2008 and I'm using rapidshare again.
If it ends up working tho all's well
Better than average for sure.
Yeah, that was a good year generally. DX: HR, Alice: Madness Returns, Pandora's Tower, Portal 2, Magicka, Terraria, Dark Souls, Sonic Generations, mhmm.
