As a Chandelure main that has beaten supposed top players around communities, the moment I found out that Up+Y in duel phase beat nearly everything that Blaziken is built around doing is when I decided the game just plain isn't designed right and it's that bloody RPS's fault.

I think you have to have the pro one. It also has its own controller iirc.

I play Chandelure you dolt, not Blaziken.

If Blaziken counters, Up+Y can be canceled into Smog, which breaks counters and has counter armor. If Blaziken tries to do a fully charged counter while I'm knocked down, I can just block.

Shit's 7-3 or 8-2 in favor of Chandelure and I just can't play knowing that kind of matchup exists in a game that's simple mechanically, even though I'm the one playing Chandelure.

I ain't got time for that since I'm not in a good timezone, so I'm gonna go on an autistic rant on why finding out Chandelure's one neat trick for Blaziken was so important in my decision to ditch the game.

I basically started to see the game as a match-up knowledge based game, not a player match-up game. There are no true safe poke tools since the majority of "fast" moves are -5 on block but since the fastest moves start up on 9 frames, that means that whatever happens is completely subject to the Attack > Throw > Counter RPS system that the game has, assuming that both players are point blank. There are moves that throw the RPS off like Overheat and Psystrike and basically everything Gengar but otherwise the RPS is a pretty big deal and a guessing game.

That means that characters have to rely on tricks, and Blaziken's trick is okizeme; leaving out active frames on the opponents wake-up to force a mixup that's always in Blaziken's favor. Blaziken's best okizeme tool is low jump air dash Y as it catches nearly everything most characters are capable of and even stops counters with the correct followup afterwards. Of course, a Blaziken can mix it up with X or A if the opponent is conditioned to expect the Y.

Chandelure's Up+Y throws a wrench into Blaziken's entire air dash okizeme though, because it is both high and mid invincible and all his air-dash tools hit high or mid, and it also avoids the burning kicks and punches I don't remember the name of that are usually great followups against other Pokemon during mixup.

So assuming Blaziken blocks Up+Y instead of doing anything:
1) He can't dash forward or away Smog because there's not enough frames to reach any invincibility
2) He can't throw because it gets stopped by Smog
3) He can't counter becase lol armor break on every Pokemon move
4) He can't backdash because Smog reaches far enough
5) He can't attack because Smog is fast enough to stop anything coming even ignoring the counter armor

The only thing he can do is jump

BUT

If I just use Flameburst instead, I'll catch jumps as well along with anything else that Smog catches, just that I do much less damage. The only thing that Flameburst and Smog won't catch are Synergy bursts but

Blaziken's only non-synergy counter is to use a disrupt assist or do his slow low attacks but they're ass and put him back into the Chandelure blender real quick without doing much damage.

So essentially, Blaziken's tricks are nullified and all he can do safely are low damage options. The matchup is horrible for him, and I felt bad for the player I was going against once I discovered this because his win chances dropped like a rock unless he was willing to make very risky reads.

So I quit the game because I couldn't stand that such a glaring matchup killer was overlooked. At least with USF4 Capcom just didn't care about muh T. Hawk and Deejay but Namco clearly want this game to be balanced as they've been listening to people.

The biggest change was that Shadow Mewtwo's infinite combo was removed. Gengar got BTFO with one of the biggest nerfs I've seen ever.

Pikachu Libre got a bug fix where jump -> X would sometimes let opponents fall out of it if you wall splat them.

Mewtwo's confusion was nerfed (you can jump out of it because it now has a lower hitbox, you can tech it faster, combos off of it scale harder), and his jump X/Y were nerfed as well by making it a critical hit when you counter and it has lower priority.

Shadow Mewtwo got a lot of nerfs but they all boil down to weaker projectiles.

I think thats it.

So basically, you just wrote all those paragraphs to say that you quit a game because of a single character to character matchup.

There's a reason the visible competitive scene game has dramatically fizzled among top players so quickly after launch despite being a popular IP as well. Once you learn the character MUs, you don't need to learn anything else.

They have high tournament entrants now, but only because registration was available when people were still excited and discovering things for the game.

The scene has fizzled, huh. And surely you have a source for this that isn't your personal pooper problems.

I might have some autism in me but I'm not autistic enough to write another essay when it's this late. I'll just say it's the same case as Skullgirls right now; the well known names that have shown interest early on have lost interest the deeper they've looked into the game, and nobody ever really mentions it that often in any community that isn't directly about it. Stream viewers are low all around and even in dedicated Pokken communities you find very few people who even have the mettle to make it out of pools in tournament without being shat on afterwards, mostly smash crossovers.

On top of this, actual offline tournament preparation is hell for Pokken. Without offline tournaments or a spectator mode, the game's tournament scene cannot properly cultivate and interest from everyone viewing the game begins to wane quickly.

Gengar Main here his Synergy burst slowly builds thats the reward he gets when he goes Full burst he becomes an S+ tier character cause his synergy is slow to build even with supports. The same goes for regular Mewtwo.

Oh man do this games' servers suck cock. All my other games work perfectly, I've lost eleven matches by "disconnecting" in the middle of matches on Pokken only. One of them was after I fucking won during my skill point allocation. What the fuck. If you're going to severly punish me for disconnecting (i.e. take all my goddamn money in game) then you better make sure at least one of those was my goddamn fault.

I don't even want to open it because that just ruins the feeling.

Wild Charge is easily interrupted with any character who has a quick aerial, i.e. Machamp, Blaziken, or Sceptile. Especially with Sceptile, his traps make both Pikachus nearly useless unless they are willing to take huge risky reads. Most good Pikachu/Libre players won't do this because they are well aware how squishy he/she is.

A good rule of thumb to remember no matter who you are is that Pikachu's ground game is shit, so just zone him from about twice his/her height down and you'll be peachy.
