The problem with explaining how magnets work is that we don't have a beginner-level explanation of how they work.
Magnets work because that's what the force of electromagnetism does.

In the same way, I could go on to explain how magnets work because they are made up of smaller magnetic zones aligning to strengthen each others' fields, which are made up of smaller magnetic zones aligning to strengthen each others' fields, which are made up of smaller magnetic zones aligning to strengthen each other's fields, which are made up of particles with an innate property called spin which line up, creating that magnetic zone.
But then you'd ask, why? Why do those particles have that innate property? Why does that property manifest in that way?
And again, we're already at the cutting edge of particle physics which explains the very fundamentals of our universe.

Why would it be capable of that?
You would take some attempts to answer the question, but ultimately you would not be able to formulate any kind of answer that made sense, because a universe where that assertion is true is itself nonsense.

I will answer what you mean with what you need.
You always see magnets moving things around without any apparent source of locomotion. But that's because you can't identify it.
When we map out a magnetic field, or an electric field, we say that two point charges a nonzero distance from each other have 'potential energy'. That potential energy is converted to kinetic energy by apparent magic. So two magnets roll towards each other.
But I have to ask you, how did that magnet get there? How were those two magnets separated to begin with?
Someone did the work of separating them.
Someone used their hand to put the work into the system, drawing them apart, turning their energy into potential energy between the magnets as they draw farther apart.
What happens when that potential energy becomes kinetic energy and draws the magnets together again? They stop. The work put into the system by the person was expended. Was there any energy created? No. Only transferred.

This is a common problem with the illiterate and beginners. They always think they see violations of the laws of thermodynamics, when in reality, they are just not looking at the entire scope of the system they are investigating.

Gasoline only works as fuel because chemical potential energy was put into it by the sun, the sun only works because… Etc etc, all the way back to the first cause.
Magnets could be used a fuel or prime mover, if you could find a system which uses the environment to impart the potential energy.
The bit about energy not being created is needless to state because of Newton's laws.
The correct answer is actually, yes you can use magnets as a power source, we just don't have an efficient way of doing so.

Question related to a "transgenderism" propaganda point:
There is a common bullshit lie repeated by SJWs (particularly trannies themselves, such as Blaire White) that transsexuals biologically have brains more like the opposite sex even when they haven't taken hormone treatments. Pic related is a study, commonly cited by these retards, that claims MtF trannies have more biologically feminine brains, without having taken estrogen. Obviously, it'd give false results if the trannies were lying and HAD taken hormones before, as taking these hormone treatments would alter their brain chemistry.

Now, I swear that somewhere, I've seen a youtube video or something that debunked this exact study (or possibly it could've just been a post someone made here on Holla Forums, not quite sure, I'm pretty sure it was a video). In said video, the person explained that the trannies who volunteered to have their brains scanned for this study, were simply asked if they had taken hormone treatments before, and many of them lied and said that they hadn't (because obviously they already knew that the researchers were only studying MtF transsexuals who hadn't taken hormones).

I'd really appreciate it if someone could find me a source on this claim that the trannies were lying about not taking hormone treatments. I'm mostly hoping to find the video where this debunking claim was made, since I'm hoping to see how exactly what details they gave in explaining how the trannies were lying about their history with hormone treatments.

So apparently they simply had to "report" that they had not previously taken estrogen. It does say that they had to undergo a medical examination, but they don't go into much detail about it, and I'm skeptical that a rudimentary examination that is barely given a vague sentence mentioning it would effectively detect if the tranny subjects had taken hormone before or not.

But, I saw some retard arguing against this study by saying "it doesn't replicate the study that Blair White was talking about" (the "Regional gray matter variation in male-to-female transsexualism" one that I linked in the previous paragraph).
So, on that note, I guess another question I'd appreciate having answered is: What counter-argument could I use against this claim that this study fails to replicate the one that Blair White and other trannies use to back up their claims that MtF trannies have naturally feminized brains? Theoretical Physics does not require mathematics - it is absolutely the GOAL of theoretical physics to achieve a framework for reality supported by mathematics in as simplistic and accurate a form as possible, but the basic theory absolutely does not require complex mathematical manipulation, just understanding of the workings thereof and the ability to form coherent and sensible potential explanations for various phenomena discovered while still accounting for all that precedes it. It doesn't require math in the way you are thinking, it requires creativity and an artistic mind, a broad and colorful imagination and the ability to picture ridiculous and inconceivable concepts through the use of metaphor and analogy.

As you can see from this diagram, they're claiming that MtF trannies have more female-like brains, and also apparently claim that their research subjects had not taken hormones. But, again, I find this to be a dubious claim, if they simply asked the trannies if they had taken hormones before or not, because they could easily just lie about that.

Question: Is there any kind of decent department store to do some basic shopping? I go to school in the mountains and all we really have is a Walmart, a Hannafords and a Marshalls. Obviously Walmart's business practices and the way they treat their employees are despicable, so I'd really prefer to shop there as little as possible. Hannafords is good for groceries, and they sell shampoo, etc., but anything that's not food is grossly overpriced. Marshall's is clothes, but it's sketchy as fuck in there. I could order stuff from Amazon, but I'm pretty sure they're a scumbag company too. The only other options are the outlets half an hour south of here.

That's because they have this full field internally in randomly magnetically oriented domains, magnetizing amounts to simply aligning those magnetic domains so that there is some net magnetic field in the whole object. There are only two ways permanent magnets are demagnetized: application of strong external magnetic field in specific pattern, and application of heat. Both destroy alignment of magnetic domains and they become random and cancel each other out, producing no net magnetic field. You need to pump energy into the magnet to demagnetize it, not out of it.
