If you don't want to go through 1 and 2 since they're the most dated ones of the bunch, you can read the digest versions (only contain the lore of Rance 1 and 2) and skip straight to 3.

I love how it has so many routes, and there are plenty of good comedy moments. As long as you can handle obnoxious powerlevels and Mary Sue bullshit you'll enjoy it.

It's basically their own equivalent of Katawa Shoujo!
Everlasting Summer has some horribly inconsistent art, and the writing can be occasionally clumsy (the protagonist acts slightly cold and harsh in the sort of way that people who don't know how to make conversation sometimes do). However, the soundtrack is amazing, and conceptually, Everlasting Summer has some intense thematic depth that you wouldn't expect from its appearance. It also features a few unlock-able routes, all of which are great.

If you play that one, I'd recommend using a guide after at most one or two playthroughs, because some of the good endings are insanely hard to reach through sheer trial-and-error, and the game will be repetitive enough as it is trying to unlock Yulya's route, and the 'harem' (lies) route.

My favourite was Masha's route, which turned the whole story on its head multiple times and broke the 4th wall in a way I've only really seen before in FLCL.>Everlasting Summer, by some russian devs.

You can find an alternative art mod in the workshop, which is actually the original art that was later changed, and it looks much better in my opinion.

The sprites in this game look are average, but the background images are amazing. Commertial VN quality amazin, imo.

At chapter 7/12 so far. This is the best nukige I've ever seen.

It's blasphemously misappropriating Christian doctrine (par for the course for Japan though let's be honest, so whatever), but the sex scenes are unreal and the art is done to such a consistent standard!
