SHUT IT DOWN!

Imdb message boards to close down february 20 because they "no longer providing a positive, useful experience".

No more shitposting shitty hollyjew bullshit.

Good riddance most of it was full of bullshit filled with underage retards anyway. The last time I used their board was in 2008.

IMDb had message boards?

I thought they just were a wiki of movie information.

This has been happening a lot since 2014, especially after GG. But IMDB boards were complete shit when it came to userface and discussion. Nearly every movie was just filled with "WTF happened in the plots?!" shit. Good riddance, supported.

It's probably just because everyone who uses those message boards unironically has a sub 80 iq.

Are the user reviews getting shut down though? That's what matters.

Archive anything related to Pizzagate on there NOW.

Did IMDB ever win that lawsuit in which the roasties tried to stop them from posting birthdays?

They are shutting it down because a lot of the discussion called out the blatant hollywood propaganda

this. you cucks apparently never have been on, or you are just screechy kikes, as ususal.

hollyweird is kill. get it into you silly jewish heads.
that propagnda arms is going by bye losers

dam this was one of the first forums i joined, what a shame, the internet has become a hug box for faggots and women.

OY VEY

it's the end of decentralized online comments everywhere.
here in frogland there was a shitty blog about local celebs that had some anonymous right-wing comments showing up en masse, they shut it down because "working on the site upgrade". two weeks later, events in qc city.

i mean they shut down the online comments, not the site. posts are weak as shit, the comments were the valuable part of the site.

sigh.. I remember trolling the Django Unchained messageboard by claiming "my son" got molested while watching it and that any reference to QT movies I saw on tv or the net triggered PTSD. The almost non-existant mods deleted 6 years of hilarious activity but didn't ban me, lol. My account there is now 11 years old..

IMDB shitposting, it has been a pleasure. one of the last living remnants of pre2007 era wild west internet.

RIP

And if they would have learned from the many past cases of trying to shut it down to combat dissent, that's the worst thing you can do. Users just migrate elsewhere emboldened to investigate it further if prompted to. A few of those users will end up here even.

But I see the long term plan internet wide, by closing down site exclusive comment sections, they're hoping to isolate the influence of the internet to dedicated social media. I wouldn't be surprised IMDB (along with many other major sites who haven't yet) consider integrating facebook as a newly created comment/forum system months later. Solves their problem of losing people over the lack of user content while centralizing monitoring/moderation.

Nothing of value lost there

It's a shame to lose over a decades worth of posts, even if most of them are hilariously low quality. I guess they don't want people contradicting the high star rating and top 250 space the studios pay for.

Does IMFDB have a message board?

neat

by the way, imdb is an amazon company

/thread

I have never been there but what you're saying makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe advertise 8/tv/ I think it's kind of dead right now but all the regulars there will probably need to find a new home.

That sounds fun as fuck, shame I missed it.

99 percent of the posts were "this actress is hot"/"this actress is ugly"/"this actor is short"/"this actor is a fag"/"hey i knew this person 20 years ago so pls contact me" so whatever.

You hit on it there I'm afraid. Just like they want to meme apple or Google pay into a centralized money system, they see facebook+"real names" as the new way to bring in commentary but have it moderated away from right wingers. Lefty shill bots will be plugged into the system so can bypass this protection of course. I first noticed this on Amren forums way back before the redpill, I realize now it was a complete Juden shield, as is this move.

I need to get my mom off this shit. She is a boomer and pretty normie-tier, so she grew up in the age of "movie stars," which is to the point that she describes movies by the actors in the movie rather than the plot. "The new Tom Hanks movie" or "a Spencer Tracy movie" for example, rather than "a movie about mobsters" or whatever. She even watches the stupid awards shows.

I got her to vote for Trump, but since then she has said crap like "Trump is doing a lot of dumb stuff" or "hopefully Trump doesn't get us into a war" which could only come from listening to these dumbass celebrities (since she doesn't read the news or anything).

Thats not strange. Normies like to make actors like the most important thing ever for a movie, regardless of anything else. Even if the actor is shitlooking and acts in a shitty way, if he/she is popular/know enough by the peolple, normies will watch them anyways.

I fail to seem how this isn't normal

they were very fun to shitpost on

Most of the posts on IMDB were shit but it had its own board culture, some pretty cool people were on it, and there was no push to integrate your presence on IMDB with a Facebook or Google account.

Remind you of any other discussion board you visit regularly?

This move was basically inevitable as soon as Amazon got involved with IMDB, though. Every silicon valley firm like Amazon seems to want to form its own borg collective where you either use Facebook comments or Disqus comments or Google+ comments.

The boards connected to each IMDb entry are irreplaceable
IMDb started going downhill with the crappy site redesign a few years ago

Official announcement >>>/film/8897

Haven't used it for years but back on 2004 in the run up to Bush II re-election that was one of the centers of discussion of politics on the internet. I actually met a girl I argued with on there IRL 10 years later on the other side of the world.

There needs to be a site where you load any other site and that site will be in one box and below it will be a comment section. So that any article on the internet can have comments made. I've seen a disqus site that did this but it was a shitty/buggy implementation. This is also essentially what reddit is but reddits implementation is also cancerous.

This is a good alternative. It is open source and can be edited by any user.
thetvdb.com/

imdb.com/title/tt4645330/board/?ref_=tt_bd_sm

probably because of the discussion about this (((movie)))

...

It's true what trump says, our enemies do our work for us.

...

This. I've been shitposting there since '03. It was truly the last vestige of Web 1.0 with almost no moderation whatsoever. In fact, my first exposure to wrongthink was on those boards, way before I had ever heard of Holla Forums. It's a huge archive of unfiltered human communication, but the Amazon jews see no value in such a thing.

They're really trying to stamp out online anonymity altogether. We're going to reach a point where it's almost impossible to write something online without it being connected to your name somehow. People are going to push back against this, hard. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

YES

they are shutting it down so people cant discuss how jews were involved in X movies degeneracy

I remember one thread someone created at simpsons forum with the name "they should make bart or lisa gay".

YES, thats was the name, then he started to tell this would make gay childrens feel better about themselves.

I got really angry at this, but then this made me remember something that happened at a simpsons episode, and this only made me angrier (this time with simpsons)
At the eposode lisa simpson became vegan, she would only stay vegan during that episode, but the beatles musician told he would only be at the episode, if lisa stayed vegan during the entire show.
This is basically the same thing, as the gay thread.

Well you can't have goyim getting redpilled now can we?

People do that because they believe actors are tied to quality, as in this actor would never play in a lousy film, therefore the film will be good.

just came to IMDB to find a movie

I've heard about this here and on mootchan but it didn't sink in until I organically used IMDB as I have done for the past 14 or so years and, as in the normal course, went to the forum section of an obscure film to see what other fanatics were saying about it. I saw their official message and it hit home bad.

No surprise it's posted on the chans since we all know this is, in part, motivated by political censorship and cultural marxist angle. As they say in their official message:

>communicate with IMDb's editors and one another. IMDb's Facebook page (facebook.com/imdb) and official Twitter account (twitter.com/imdb) have an audience of more than 10 million engaged fans. IMDb also maintains official accounts on Snapchat (snapchat.com/add/imdblive), Pinterest (pinterest.com/imdbofficial/), YouTube (youtube.com/imdb), and Tumblr (imdb.tumblr.com/).

All of these are institutions that edge nearer to Chinese style government censorship and user manipulation. The message they send by specifically offloading their chaotic, beautifully anachronistic, chaotic, freewheeling web 1.0 style forums onto these new heavily moderated police state entities couldn't be clearer. As you said op, the message: SHUT. IT. DOWN.

RIP

Remember MSN messenger? A perfect product. Names, display pictures, emotes, webcams, games. Too perfect. Too anonymous. They killed MSN by fucking it up. From a business perspective its hard to imagine how they could have accidentally done this. Im guessing they were "made to understand" that the anonymity was a global security threat. Either way, they will forcefully suicide a product for their greater good, if it is too good. People migrated to kikebook afterwards. What a surprise.

I actually miss MSN Messenger

I should have made attempts to keep contact with some of the people I met on there before it was shut down.

lel. imdb messageboards are filled with marvelfags anyway.

ICQ is owned by Russian malware spammers now. I never used AIM, but I'm sure some people miss it.

Casually playing checkers online with strangers? You can fuckin' forget it, goy! Brain games are good for you! And who knows what kind of taboo opinions you could be sharing! And choosing your own font? What kind of deranged pervert would want such choices? Goy, we will shut it down, for your own good, before someone gets hurt!

It all looks so innocent. Like babbys first internet. Who knows if josh13 is really 13? Oh look, I got my daily free porn email.

Everything I could have wanted in one place at that age.

I once met a guy in a quakeworld server and somehow got into Holla Forums topics, ended up sharing MSN messenger details and talking for a few years. He drove around the US in an RV hacking wifi networks and was very based. I have no idea what happened to him.

this + IRC were the glory days, felt like I had actual friends back then, now I have no one except you guys

Story time?

Used ICQ back in those days more so, but yeah.

If only Pedowood could get shut down for creating only pure garbage and for molesting children.

Play any online games? RO private servers were my thing

Yeah, UT, RO, and L2.

Are the boards themselves going to be purged completely? Or are all the old post just going to be archived and they'll just lock the ability to make new post and threads? Wayback machine grabs the board post on imdb right? For all the useless bitching, cries from 14 year olds and "this is a plot hole because it's not 100% like real life" post. When I still use to watch movies. I enjoyed going onto the imdb pages board to see what other people were saying about it. You could actually find some strange interesting stuff on them sometimes. Especially if the movie was even slightly obscure. A lot of them were interesting in the same reading through old archives of BBS post from 20 years ago are. Thanks technocrats for destroying yet another free non tyrannical communication form.

Eventually the only way we're going to be able to communicate online is with our real identities attached to it on Faceberg(Tm) authorized platforms

Well said. I'm still pissed off about it. IMDb is running major damage control over this decision. The CEO got BTFO in a back-and-forth with a user and responded by locking the thread and making it read-only. They're also deleting posts on the forums and on their Facebook page, but they can't keep up. I haven't seen that much outrage on Facebook since Obama's DHS rolled out its shitty nonfunctional healthcare website.

From about 1999-2004, as noted,
IMDb was a major discussion hub. Oldfags may remember that when it first launched, you could post pictures as well. They axed that feature pretty quickly for obvious reasons, but for many years, the forums were comparable to the chans in sheer anarchy and breadth.

Now IMDb has committed itself to becoming some kind of promotional service for Pedowood, and they've been strong-armed into erasing one of the last, and largest, open discussion forums on the internet. The problem isn't that they don't realize how popular the boards are, it's that they do realize it and they're opposed to it. It's 2017, we can't have people offering sincere opinions on media products.

I can't wait to watch this website crash and burn.

It's a total purge, no archives. There already is an expiration feature if no one replies for a certain time, but on some boards you can find threads that have been active for a decade or more. It's all going up in smoke.

THIS

They are resorting to censorship. Streisand effect imminent. Things will only get better from now on.

Sounds like imageboards could get a major influx of IMDB users then.

We should shill Holla Forums there. Could pick up a few people that way.

No fucking way that board is even worse than Holla Forums

IMDB users will eternal september it.

Al dat gekanker op 1 plaatje. Ik mis het niet.

Wishful thinking. I don't think it is as cucked as leftypol though.

It's the only the big blockbuster movies that get filled with that shit. Most of it is a good discussion space that retards don't touch.

Important point. The web as a whole seems to be stagnating or regressing. Modern sites and apps don't compare to the usability and novelty of MSN and AIM. Most people on Holla Forums were kids and teens when those products were rolled out, we were certainly no threat back then, but it seems like (((someone))) saw the danger of anonymity and blocked the development of these services. They corralled all the normies onto Facebook instead. What if it went the other way and the entire Internet was anonymous? I can't even imagine what that would be like.

That looks like an alternative for mainstream/marvel fag discussions. What about a place where you discuss a wide range of films and tv?

Well of course Holla Forums is shit, That place is filled to the brim with pedophiles. You shouldn't be surprised they're hardcore commushits

Oy vey you dumb goyim are just supposed to waste your shekels to watch our movies. These movies are good remember? We wouldn't have given the directors and actors and awards if the movies they were involved with weren't quality entertainment. Why can't you goyim appreciate quality Jew produced films?

IMFDB outlawed IMDB
Victory for /k/
imfdb.org/wiki/Death_Wish_II

News sites are shutting down their comment sections and offloading it to Facebook for centralized control.

pre'07 eh. …..Soooooooooooooo
TIME TO TAKE OVER NEWGROUNDS?
I had a fun thing that annoyed the piss out of normies. I selected one film/tv show in every category, and the one category it could be implied in (ie Top Gun: flight/military, fag bromance/buddycom) and endlessly compared other movies to it, sometimes 4-7 topics in one board over a season's period
Like I'd go into all the fantasy show boards and compare them all to Hercules: Legendary Journeys (Conan the Adventurer for cartoons) even some "modern fantasy" shit like 10th kingdom, and start complaining about the lack of sorcerers in skull masks. Or complain in some "coming-of-age-drama" why the kid never learns to use a sword. Some of the really dumb ones would go off and attack the board "I came from" despite me never posting to them. It was great watching the same stupid bastards fall for it 4 or 5 times in a row, with only two catching on but no one listening to them.

agree with this dude, anyone that still remembers their PWs advertise it! Might get some accidental redpills from the ones that don't flee screaming. Also can try and get Greatest Story listed up there for the lulz.

Always found it amazing when some of those people DID get contacts. Turns out some of those hollyjews love to read it for some reason.
Even smallfry like the grips and hairdressers. I have no idea what they're trying to gauge. IMDB isn't the first place I'd think of to find any 'fan engagement' or critical analysis.

yea, part of the reason lolocaust films do so well still is normies want the full gamut of gunfights, tragedy, sad/somber comedy, tragic romance, scenery pr0n, wide pan shots, etc.
Lolocaust movies are an excellent way to get all that done without having to think up a complicated experimental story like Truman Show that might not pay off. These so-called "Singularly beautiful" (yes I know it makes no grammatical sense but that's what they say when it hits all that at once) films are the inversion of the Blockbuster Action Flicks. 75%+ of the movie is "already written" for you. Vietnam used to be as well, but then normies started to realise the 'nam/Iraq comparisons.
There's some that aren't all that bad either, but they have to be foreign usually, like Very Long Engagement for ww1 and The Black Book for ww2. There's also a very strange one called Hart's War that seems like it's almost going to pill you but then the German guards become mean and nasty for no reason, after spending the movie defending the black dude. Whoever made that was pretty fucking confused. Like he wanted to say "See, even nazis treat them right compared to you!" but then he remembered "oh shit, yeah, nazis. We're supposed to hate them the most!"

I think part of it is that it wants to directly compete against those two. Amazon is centralising everything for the inevitable fall of jewgle and/or FB. Because they don't have a selling store backing them up. FB is most likely to go first.

haha, exactly like that!

nice dubs yo, appropriate too. They really do do this to themselves don't they?
WHAT IN THE FUCK DID THEY THINK WOULD HAPPEN MAKING A MOVIE ABOUT THAT GLORIOUS FAGGOT!

remember they tried to draw people back by going all weeb-y and hipster-y with MSChat? Like that but all text coming from comic characters? But alas, it was too late. Too bad, the toohoo fags were really skilled with that and could make whomever you wanted.
Can just imagine 30 variants of Hitler all chatting with one lone random stock cowboy
But of course, they had to fuck that up eventually too, because too many randos kept choosing lewd ones or talking penises in public rooms. Now it fucking autos you, no choices goy.

Probably suicide after accidentallying into a Podesta phone call.

haha, UT and L2 still have sizeable communities. I was always impressed a little for looking like a 2010 game in 2002. Proof normies have no concept of quality that bullshit like WoW has consistently beat its ass. Phantasy Star over RO for me though, hated that chibi shit. Only good thing to come out of RO was some terrorist snek waifus, and all the cosplayer broads doing the assassin.

So it's settled then.
DO IT
Think of how ready these fags are to be pilled if you keep reminding them when and why it was decided to be shut down! They might completely push out the gommie regulars.

well it's not like we were the only ones using it. I managed to get to some straaange places back then. A fat load of both left and right conspiracists were working together before stuff like wikileaks came along, busting shit open semi-quietly, with some guy named Stephen Marshall organising everything. 9/11 was just too big, I notice that's when the clamping down started. They'd already seen the danger of these mini-Rorschachs, but now there were thousands of them all at once. Like many other things since then, they pushed too hard, too fast, and got caught in the open. If Circa News hadn't been compromised (they claim to have sold out for hosting bills but it's more likely they got an offer and a barbell they couldn't refuse) and deleted all their shit documenting the gov-sanctioned efforts against Guerrilla News, man, you can't imagine the cost of the tv blitz.
(((they))) spent 27 billion dollars running 9/11 programming/spamming disinfo damn near 24/7 the next two years to blot out the conspiracists with noise. They knew they fucked up when footage came out of those mossad guys laughing, fucked up bad!
(if it seems overly expensive, remember how much more it cost to do shit with the internet and computers back then, plus you needed crisis actor (((muslims))) all over able to be shown as having new 'celebrations.' Editing software was also not as good, most locations needed real people thanks to autismal scrutiny of every frame. Some of the greenscreened ones were proven fakes by autists realising fucking rocks were wrong for that region. Geofags gotta geofag. Sure the mile-long explanations would turn off normies, but it also told other neophyte conspiracists when they were getting gamed and to ignore this or that source. Strange to think we had nation-wide infograph wars before shitpost/meme wars.)

at any rate, yeah I notice the regression often, I kept subtly asking myself why I can't do x when legacy-bbforum-site-y or p2p-chat-client-z allowed much more customisation. Hotline and WinMX are still unbeatable to me even though all the normies leaving means they're mostly dead today, and there's still a community for custom AIM builds running thanks to the ease of filetrading it allowed. Now this is what nostalgia is all about!
I think the richfags should try and meetup and fund a revival of one of those old programs, then we slowly spread it to the normies dissatisfied with SJ media sites, like what's going on with gab.

I think we need to rebuild things. We need techpriests to help us build an internet of sites that are open and free instead simply pretending to be.

kek I always wondered what went on in those message boards.

Well, there's always comments and reviews.
If you ever see an account from maybe 6 years ago, maybe earlier, and has only given a handful of negative reviews and only for things like TGSNT, I'd highly recommend looking up what else they've reviewed. A pretty decent way to find stuff worth watching.

Not good, although the comments were absolute cancer.

I hope the reviews are kept. The reviews for The Force Awakens were pretty cool and the complete opposite of the mainstream critics.

...

This seems solid on its face, but falls apart upon analysis. A few examples:
Sometimes A-list actors take roles in movies that are absolutely atrocious, either because it looked at lot better on paper or because they want/need the paycheck. They still have to eat, and rent is expensive in Los Angeles, as are high-quality drugs.

One movie did this.
Fucking brilliant.

Just now hearing about this. Guess they couldn't handle the bants.

OYY VEEEEEYYY!!!!!

Not surprised. There was too much dissent against the (((message))).

Fuck IMDB. Years ago it used to give a decent judgement whether a movie was good or not so, but nowadays literally every bullshit (((Hollywood)))) movie that comes out gets an 8 rating.

Time for a right-wing, free speech movie database.

Those were the days. Tech have been going downhill, going into decline, regardless of what the cucks of Silicon Valley say.

First post as always.

The real reason is that people are waking up to jews and their SJW drones forcing their mentally ill agenda into movies, and now they must shut it down.

Fuck imdb, I met some autistic AZN named Andrew Lee Chow aka Chowwow from evageeks who made my life hell there.

use these last couple of days to spam imdb's boards shilling TGSNT

It was a board for movieplebs, what do you expect.

Holla Forums is difficult to explain
On one hand they have reached a level of irony that many could never hope to achieve
On the other hand there are lots of Holla Forums insurgents or users there trying to turn every thread political
As an example, those terrible "TruthSeeker" comics that were created were a parody of the actual TruthSeeker who made terrible comics.
On the one hand everyone thinks TruthSeeker is retarted and are ironically imitating him, on the other hand Holla Forums is a place someone like truthseeker would go to.

but the website itself is not going right?

yeah internet is becoming less interactive by the day.

Jews will destroy this garbage can

just hopped over to Holla Forums and found this gem
I'm not sure whose ironic and whose not sometimes

the worse part of TV is that they watch too much TV. Taboo, Dr. Who and Supernatural, they are like Holla Forums, as their medium decay in quality so does the board. if the teli start passing good shows then Holla Forums quality will follow.

Thank God the posts I made in high school will finally be whipped and my name cleared!

fa/tv/irgin here.

The key to understanding Holla Forums is to understand that it is a designated shitting street. The posts there are absolute and total shit, but like the shitting of Indian food which is loose and smells putrid.

It's not for anything resembling an intelligent conversation, because it reflects its medium. TV is shit. Movies are faggotry. So what else could be on Holla Forums?

feet

There's an FAQ thread about the closure now, where someone found an old quote by the CEO that completely contradicts everything he's said about the reasons for the closure.

This is 100% proof, as far as I'm concerned, that they're doing this for ideological reasons as>>9169188 says. I wouldn't be surprised if a group of Hollywood executive producers threatened to kill Needham's family if he didn't shut down the boards.

lel good kikes, go through with the plan :^)

Fuck man. I'm not some obsessive reviewer or anything, but as a lifelong move lover and internet user the mid 90s this really fucking hurts.

I hope more Snowdens and Assanges from within IMDB destroy whoever is responsible for this. IMDB has been around longer than any of those faggot social media enterprises they cite and it will probably be around after they're gone.

This is one dumb, dumb fucking move. FUCK this.

AIM had infinitely superior aesthetics. Only culturally backward, tone deaf Euros used MSN and ICQ. MSN was good for the fps multiplayer games it had integrated with its gaming network though. It really was the first Steam.

You hit the nail on the head. They offset it to the big sites that have more oversight. So fucking sad.

DROP THE REDPILLS

5 years of regime.

That's about 1826 days (with one leap year added one).

1826 days are 43,824 hours.

43,824 hours are 2,629,440 minutes.

6,000,000 have died in 2,629,440 minutes.

6,000,000 divided by 2,629,440 is 2.281.

Or about 2.3 jews per minute.

Since day one. 24 hours per day. 7 days a week, without pause.

And that's the lowball estimate, not like 12 million.

Sounds totally legit, goy!

Pay reparations forever!

They hammered a nail into my head in 1933.

Then they tied me to a board with razor chains.

It was real in my mind.

PAY ME! (double the years of regime and you will get impossible results too)

8ch.net/polarchive/res/7.html#7

archive.fo/sJQKm

lol… they never did. every board was just whales and their disgusting fantasies

Only the shitty parts. Websites like IMDB where you rate movies with a 1-10 metric are cancer. And serve as nothing more than a way for Hollywood to trick dummies into thinking their latest piece of shit is good by paying Indian click farms to vote their film up.
