Anyway, I'm typing this for the 500th times and this is the definitive answer for your concerns (don't listen to the retards who'll tell you to start a coop or finance a militia): there's absolutely contradiction between living a luxurious lifestyle and taking part in capitalist production "from above" and believing that the capitalist system ought to be replaced eventually.

Except for the anarchists, who should be ignored under any circumstances, no one here thinks of capitalism as a system that can be abolished on the basis of people refusing to partake in it out of moral concerns. That means greatly overestimating individual agency over structural realities. We don't want people to stop consuming, producing or innovating until the system crumbles, we want these impulses to be aligned according to principles that would serve different, democratic interests. If that hasn't happened yet, it's not anyone's individual fault so you shouldn't make a vow of poverty because of it. Not to mention that from an ethical point of view it makes no fucking sense, because if being accomplice to an unjust system is your concern, your position as a consumer and even worker should be scrutinized the same way.

Socialists shouldn't show reluctance to be part of any economic activity. And for the most part, they don't: Marx played in the stock market, Engels was literally a capitalist, Parvus was a businessman that was dealing arms during the First World War. So go ahead and make your money, and if you want to remove any weight from your conscience, you can do like the latter two did and finance some left-wing theorists, publications and agitation, or just give me a job tbh.
