I've toyed with this idea for well over a decade now. Originally I wanted to retrofit a bus to live in. Maybe a small convoy of busses so I could bring friends. Could even have different busses dedicated to different functions (one for living, one for the kitchen, one for supply storage. Space and dimensions aren't ideal for living, not to mention the monetary issues of gas, parking and storage.. Not to mention legality, which I'll cover in a second.

Then it turned to tinyhouses, since those seemed like a good option, but tinyhouses are actually a ton of bullshit that aren't worth the trouble, not to mention that they are built on a flawed premise in the first place. They put them on trailers so they would technically be RVs… but you can't legally live in an RV fulltime, so it turns out to be an expensive folly for yuppies and pseudo-off-gridder hipster faggots.

Current idea involves a series of smaller individual dwellings set up around a series of larger structures to create a cost-effective communal living and social structure. Essentially, you'd have NEET-box one-room houses with basic amenities and enough room for one or two people to live. Significantly larger than a tinyhouse, but still not as big as a typical home. Also, rooted to the ground. These things aren't RVs.

Those small dwellings are supported by larger communal areas. Gathering halls with communal kitchens, bath-houses, and so on. Instead of having a stove, dishwasher, washer-dryer, full bath, and everything else per person, you have shared spaces for small groups. Easier to build. Easier to expand. Easier to maintain, and needing far less infrastructure.

Buses might not be a bad idea, since you can sometimes find them at State auction for cheap, and since they are in constant use, they tend to be kept in top shape through constant repairs and tune-ups despite their high mileage.

Actually, a bus might make a good transport option for early stages of building. Could easily be fitted for storage and transport, making it possible to do large supply runs without having to rent or pay someone to transport large things by semi-truck.
