The first teaser I saw of this was the title Doomsday Clock, a picture of a clock then "Hope vs Cynicism" underneath.
I think they're trying to unfuck the universe and go back to fun.

Yeah that's exately what I was thinking it would be. It makes sense if their going full meta with this story.

How do you think it could be played out ? Because nowadays things like hope, idealism and such are seen as silly and dumb things while being a nihilistic piece of crap is all the rage in this CURRENT YEAR +whogivesashit

To be fair, it's a monthly thing not to mention Rebirthanon has been storytiming all the Rebirth stuff here 4FREE.

It's being orchestrated by Geoff Johns, and though he's a faggot, he enjoys very basic stories that consist of "Villain arrives, gets beaten, home in time for supper".
That's all I really want in my comics.

Superman's cock is at 11 o'clock throughout the series, leading into the return of the red trunks.

I'm expecting pages of Superman trying to fix Watchmen's problems and then confronting Dr. Manhattan about how crap sack his world is. His virtuous optimism sways Dr. Blue Penis into becoming a 2D character gushing about the power of hope. The dawn rises, and everyone smiles like a great victory has been had, while Superman flies off spouting a one liner about goodness.

What I don't expect is Johns to acknowledge that it was DC's own fault that the Watchmen poisoned everything.

I really hope it just ends with Superman and Manhattan agreeing to disagree then Manhattan fucking off back to Watchmenland. Johns is walking on a minefield with this series, and if he fucks up the Watchmen characters even slightly, he's gonna have droves of rabid fanboys kicking down his door and skinning him alive.

Not like Johns had any trouble fucking up characters before…

Also, they could only seal away the Watchmen universe. Killing it would piss off autists, which is funny as they don't want anything added to the universe, so killing it wouldn't change a thing, or even be better as DC wouldn't be as likely to fuck with it again.

There isn't a better DC comic than Watchmen, and it's not Alan Moore's fault that idiots tried to copy Watchmen and then ruined everything.

Why would they? Zack Snyder's shit adaptation didn't do that well in theaters if I recall correctly. And with WB's DCEU plans in such disarray that they're supposedly scrambling to set up stand-alone projects, there'd be no point in having a DC/Watchman crossover film

This is what they're trying to do.
They're trying to blame every "edgy" "grim" "dark" thing you didn't like about DC in the last 5-30 years on The "Watchmen were influencing our reality and making us suffer."

Keep Morrison as far away from this as possible.
It's already meta enough and he's been wanking off to this idea of "My shiny happy comics will dispel Mean Father Moore once and for all!" literally ever since Flex Mentallo came out 20+ years ago.

Think about the levels of Oedipal at work here. Moore doesn't even like most of his old DC stuff, much less what DC has done with it or how it has influenced their comics. Morrison is at war with all of it and juxtaposes Moore as a symbol of "The DC I am fighting against", while he is working for them. He goes as far as including a god-like bearded Moore-lookalike as a titan in Seven Soldiers and includes Dr. Manhattan stand-ins several times over, to have "his" Superman beat them.

Now DC is actually doing DC Superheroes vs Watchmen. Keep Morrison away. He is probably too busy anyway performing sigil magick to influence all of this and will feel that he's secretly influencing Johns' pen.

Well, that's 100% what happened, when you think about it. Watchmen and TDKR ruined all the fucking fun in DC as everyone decided they wanted to try mimic the success.

Honestly they would've mimiced anyone that had any form of success.

Which is fine, but by doing so they're only inserting these characters into the main lexicon to be reused again when a new writer or the editorial see's fit.
However, had the alternative been watchmen-esque characters with the same premise it'd probably be less interesting overall.

I Morrison had to sit down and write a proper 12 issue dissertation of why his Superman and his DC are more powerful (ideologically, morally, etc.) than Moore's heroes and the DC Moore fostered, it'd be better than whatever John's wrote.
You're right on Morrison's intent about it all, but had he restrained himself from kidney-punching Moore every other comic he wrote with Watchmen/Manhattan inserts, Morrison would've been the best choice for this book.

The closest All-Star comes to debasing Moore's ideaology is as a proof of concept that Golden/Silver age type stories are capable of mature ideas, his Shazam story for Mulitversity shows that too but for singles rather than books/arcs.
A panel should just organize the two to debate the topic, it seems stories arent enough anymore to properly discuss why their type of comics are more important for the readers and the industry.
