I remember the threads from the guy who made this on half-chan's /lit/. Everyone attacked him because he clearly didn't know what he was talking about, and then he decided to ragequit.

I don't know why the fuck you guys continue to make use of this pic, but don't. It's unfinished and made by someone who didn't know his shit.

Materialism not Mysticism

It's the only one I have please don't sperg out over it

I dont see any specific criticisms here. Could you obligue instead of just saying "I know better".

kek

Hey OP, where the fuck is Tressell's "Ragged trousered philanthropists"

That's literally the only book you actually *need* to read to *get* socialism

...

That book is secondary literature to them. Without including them it's like watching someone pour out a goblet without having savoured the contents.

''A little learning is a dang'rous thing;
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring.''

Is "Capital - Thomas Piketty" any good? I bought it a long time ago but i havent had time to read it yet.

we should use >>>/freedu/ more

Havent read Capital but I can vouch for Piketty in general. Good stuff.

Make muke read The Grapes of Wrath, it being on the list never stops being funny

It's socdem bullshit

What's wrong with Lukács?

He demonstrates wealth inequality from a non-Marxist perspective, which isn't a bad thing in itself. Unfortunately, he dismisses Marx without having actually read him. Business as usual in that respect

He's not the first to suggest a progressive tax, however, and on a global scale no less. It's pretty utopian in that respect.

At least half of "Marxism, Neo-Marxism, Post-Marxism" belongs in Pop-Left.

It's incoherent, imho. Doesn't represent anything in full - only has a few books here and there.

If you want to learn anything (anything, not just Socialism/Marxism) you need to start with a solid base (even Proudhon would be good for this) and proceed from there onwards.

I'd post my own list, but I'm not really familiar with basics for dummies lazy and uneducated, and I had a very horrible experience of seeing people try to read stuff without being historically aware of the context.

Why nobody ever says this about Math, Physics, IT security or Art?

For data? Yes.
As an actual Marxist literature? I'd say - no. It wasn't anywhere near revolutionary even in 19th century.

it's okay. wanders around his point for for about 800 pages. i guess he wanted to impress other quant economics with his statistics.

LeftCommunist reading guide

I think that Lukacs is one of few things I would keep from this list.
Basically anything besides Marx, Rosa, The Society of Spectacle and The Most Radical Gesture are left wing of capital. Lukacs has some important points, altough I don't agree with him compleatly

All I'm saying is that I was there, and I can tell you that in that thread the guy was just randomly throwing in whatever people said (and /lit/ is just as dumb as we are) without any order and cohesion. So they're very basic recommendations, they're often not the best for introducing the themes it touches on, the divisions made are bad and trivial, etc.

You can see that from the Marx selection. They seem literally picked at random, while I personally think that a picture aimed at introducing a beginner to Marx & Engels should contain a recommended reading order, a selection of minor works that can help fix misconceptions (where are the letters to Vera? Kautsky? The comments on colonization? Lassalle?), specific editions that can contain valuable commentary (and maybe an abridged version of some of the tougher works) and also ad hoc secondary literature aimed at fixing and updating content present in the original literature. In short, it should be made by someone who read his M&E.

And they seem picked at random and incomplete because they were. There was no planning behind it. In that thread, some user posted "hey it needs Rosa, maybe Accumulation of Capital?" even though he never read it, and that was simply thrown in, for some reason in the same category as Zizek and Foucault. So there's a great danger in sharing this piece of shit picture like some expert or authority made this and these are the titles selected because they're the most important, or the most essential, or that's the order they should be read. If you want to make a picture like that go to Platypus, go to google and find some university course programs on Marxism, political economy, sociology and critical theory and filter through them. But don't perpetuate this garbage for the love of God.

...

we should make a chart only of marxian historiography and geography. they're fields wayyy underrated and underrepresented compared to the amount of theory on these. also they're actually more important in a debate situation with non-marxists.

is that the only picture you have on your computer? or are you constantly in a state of narcissism and intellectual navel-gazing?

...

well at least this pleb has his own nazifu

haveing a waifu just means no one loves you in real life :^)

oh she's 3D. looks like pic related

Where do I start?
I've never read any of this and need guidance.

theanarchistlibrary.org/library/larry-law-revolutionary-self-theory
libcom.org/library/reading-theoretical-works-chris-wright

I know how to read, I just don't know what to read.
I'm pretty open-minded politically as I've never really had an interest in the topic.
I'd like to get into it.

The Commie Manifesto.
The Society and the Spectacle

bump.

Today I was at my local book fair
I saw a book by Alan Bidou right next to a book by Zizek

What does Holla Forums think about Alan Bidou?

Please don't fall for the meme reading lists that are constantly posted here. They're garbage.

If you want a specific recommendation, I think there are probably a ton of people here who can do that.

Best thread on Holla Forums

He ruined Star Wars

Is pic related any good?

I've never seen it mentioned here before.

is there a thread for lefty cinema

if there's none

well, there's ought to be

I've read it and liked it. It can be kind of dry at times though.

sometimes they get posted but people post like for or five things and then it falls off the board because no one here has seen anything

So, uh, where do I start?

Ohai Muke.

start with vladimir stalin's work

his book the communist manifesto outlines his plan to murder 1000,000000,00000000,00000000 people

Capital is all you need

The best book that Trotsky ever wrote, you cant even prove me wrong

I was actually planning to read this after what I'm currently getting through. Is it seriously good or are you memeing?

It is good to the point where most trots i know of hate this book.
And zizkek made a good intro to it

Yea honestly the Zizek intro is what made the book catch my eye.

Start with these.

Frederick Engels, 1847
The Principles of Communism
marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1847/11/prin-com.htm

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, 1913
The Three Sources and Three Component Parts of Marxism
marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1913/mar/x01.htm

Then read the attached, with the Manifesto last.

There, you now know the basics.

Ah nuts, scratch that last one, looks like I attached the wrong book. The Manifesto is available online anyways.

Practically everything is available here: marxists.catbull.com/

NB: that's German mirror of marxists.org - which no longer has everything, because copyright.
