The year is 1970. The Silver Age is over and Jimmy Olsen is in trouble. The old guard that made Silver Age Superman great are now gone. Otto Binder has quit comics forever and is currently drinking himself to death. Jerry Siegel tried again to sue DC for the rights to Superman, only to once again fail and be shown the door. Even the odious editor for Superman, Mort Weisinger, has been replaced by his dull protege, Julie Schwartz.
If Jimmy Olsen is to SURVIVE he's going to need a BOLD,NEW VISION. A VISION BEYOND THE FURTHEST OF HUMAN IMAGININGS.
Saturday, August 28, marks the 100th Birthday of Jack Kirby, and to start the celebrations off right, this Super-Sunday is all about Jack Kirby's run on Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen! A run he did not need to do, but did anyway!

Kirby took to Jimmy Olsen for two main reasons. First, it was low selling, so he could make it big. Second, he didn't want to put anyone out of a job after he made his big move to DC.
The first thing Kirby does is bring back the Newsboy Legion, something he created for DC back in the forties.

Jimmy and Clark have a new boss, Morgan Edge. He's sent Jimmy to the WILD AREA, a strange sanctuary for weird bikers. While Edge says no harm will come to Jimmy, Clark doesn't buy it. Since Clark doesn't buy it, he must DIE. Of course, he doesn't die because Clark Kent is Superman.
Meanwhile, Jimmy and the Newsboy Legion stir up trouble in the WILD AREA in their Whizz Wagon. Those in the WILD AREA have one law: NO SQUARES ALLOWED.

Superman reveals the mysteries of THE PROJECT. THE PROJECT is a program to use DNA to benefit mankind. The Hairies of the WILD AREA are part of THE PROJECT, with advanced minds able to construct mechanical wonders!
We see more of Jack Kirby's collage work as Superman shows Jimmy the bizarre charts used by THE PROJECT. THE PROJECT not only creates new types of humans, but even human aliens as well! Humans so weird that they could be confused for aliens, such as THE PROJECT researcher, DUBBILEX!
