what does Holla Forums think about apocalypse now? i think its /kino/

it's popular therefore it's shit

It's a very excellent film but not /kino/.

If it's supposed to be anti-war and anti-weapons development then it is a shit piece for its purpose. Movies like these only drive Murricucks to invest even further in advanced weaponry so wars can be fought without sacrificing too many young people.

I love the smell of kino in the morning

Honestly this is a film I haven't seen. And it's one of the top films I haven't seen that I know I should have seen.

the plantation scenes didn't add anything

I didnt understood it
Why did Kurts go mad?
Why didnt trials kill Charlie Sheen when he killed kurtz?

It added tits

It's kino.
Descent into madness and the dehumanization of man in war. Done in stages.
Read Heart of Darkness to understand it mmore.

Really good movie.

you think it good

...

Sorry it didnt have enough superheros and aliens to keep your attention

...

Heart of Darkness didn't do anything for me. Highly overrated piece of literature. I highly doubt an adaptation of the story in an inferior medium would be any better.

Sorry it wasn edited like a JJ abrams flick

Pick one and go back to >>>/lit/

I will pick both and post on both boards.

see

Is this movie as fun of a watch as Advent Children?

For a war movie it really makes war look fucking boring.

...

Siccario did Heart of Darkness better.

Because the gooks were savages.

I liked it. My favorite scene is probably where they're travelling under the bridge but they supposedly get attacked by NVA but they don't know where they are or if they are even there and kill some of their own men in the dark in the process.

watching it now. when does it ain't me start playing?

Its been a while since I've watched it but from what I remember no it doesn't play. Though Flight of the Valkyries does.

The director's cut is trash. Stick with the theatrical version.

It's supposed to be anti-war and descent into madness shit. The war is just more of a backdrop than anything else. It's an adaptation of Hearts of Darkness after all.

Agreed. Easily the best scene in the film.

woah dude *tokes weed* isn't war like so *takes more weed* bad and stuff

It's top kino and it's my favourite Coppola film.

I think the people focusing on its politics in regards to warfare are missing the point. It's about the duality of man, insanity, depression and ego death, which the war is used to accentuate.
