"Avatar 2" to begin filming on Sep. 25

Also, not sure if a thread was already made about this or if the anons here are aware of it (or even care), but Quaritch is somehow supposed to be the main antagonist in the three planned sequels even though he died at the end of the first movie and Wainfleet is rumored to be coming back too even though he's also dead. A small part of me just died with the both of them.

The only thing I've seen him in as of late that was actually good was Hacksaw Ridge, and that was basically a minor supporting role. He looked like a fucking middle-aged man in that one, probably from the constant stress of not knowing whether Jim would push back the sequel's release date for the umpteenth time and fuck everyone over on the cast and crew yet again. He's going to be 44 by the time the sequel comes out and Zoe Saldana will be 42. I don't really give a shit about anyone else in it, honestly.

I wouldn't even watch the sequel if that actually happened, and that's saying something considering this used to be my favorite movie when I was younger

I think Amanda Silver is also helping write the sequels. She helped write the new Planet of the Apes movies. Take that for what its worth.

Has there been any concrete explanation for why he's been dragging his feet this long? Avatar 2's original release date was 2013 as a reference. Duke Nukem Forever in film format at this rate.

I am guessing but I imagine a couple of factors are at play. He wants to wow people with visuals like the first one and is trying to do it again. He signed that deal with disney to open an Avatar theme park so now he is probably trying to retool the story a bit for merchandising opportunities? He is also writing 4 movies to be essential one continuous story too. So that probably took a long time to get the scripts done.
