I've worked in IT for about 9 years and agree with all these points.

My thinking is that it was mostly economic. Through out the 90's and 2000's most of the venture capital was help by old ass white men that saw IT as almost being magic.

That thinking wasn't without merit, productivity has increased 10 fold since the 70's mostly due to IT.

They threw money at IT and other STEM majors. This, compounded by the fact that this country doesn't produce a lot of engineer gave STEM guys a bad case of unwarranted self importance.

It's starting to change now, those same porkys have figured out that there's nothing magical about STEM and it can be outsourced to anywhere. It's really funny to me to see so many of my co-workers who were lolberts or ancaps talk about labor problems now, totally unironically.

A lot of the ridicule of STEM is just being fed up with:
1. The self-importance of people STEM,
2. Their complete lack of self-awareness.
3. The complete political apathy, or worse complacency (Well-I'm-in-an-alright-spot-so-why-should-I-care-ism)
4. Their naïve dismissal of the humanities, or STEM-people acting as though they have a complete understanding of the humanities.
5. And last, just the fact that it has been so completely over represented in online communities for the past 20 years.

(Of course, this isn't a description of all people in STEM, just a laundry-list of problems that one encounters pretty often when speaking with STEM-oriented people on the net.)

I don't think anybody harbors any dislike of the fields themselves or doubts the importance or usefulness of the STEM fields.

What I find funniest about New Atheists in general and the attitude of Stems in your pic related is they're the type of people who hate religion because "it never questions anything" but you ask them to start questioning the practices of science it's methodology or just look at the history/sociology of it and they start losing their minds. Secondly they always come up with the most basic positions ever on morality/ethics which have been debunked thousands of times and start predicating their ideas on possibly false untested assumptions like free will/determinism, the reality of everyday experience etc. It's ok to believe those things outside of a philosophical debate, but if your asking me to believe your argument you cant leave anything up to assumption, but analytical philosophy in general has resorted to laziness ever since Coherentism has been broadly accepted. So you can make excuses for any shit argument as long as you can site a few minor studies that might correlate.

No one actually hates STEM, the natural sciences, whatever. It's despising a naive reductionism of complex phenomena to their pet field (like, say, the natural sciences), when there's a lot more going on than simply atoms/chemicals/natural selection/whatever.

STEMfags being huge rightcucks is largely an American thing, and I'm not too sure why. Most STEMfags over here in shitpostistan seem to come from blue collar backgrounds. The 'T' is particularly leftist, I have never met one ITfag that has not stated that capitalism is turning the field into creating products at the lowest quality to sell for the highest price.

STEM worshippers, however? Yeah, they are fucking faggots. These people use STEM as an excuse for social darwinism, usually "WEEEELL IF U CANT AFFORD FOOD U SHOULD STUDY STEM XDDDD LE BOOTSTRAP MAYMAY", completely forgetting that if every blue collar man, woman and child studied it, the STEM job market would become saturated and we'd STILL have unemployment and pay issues.
