My Hero Academia

I saw a thread on Holla Forums about MHA about a year or two ago and it was not deleted so I assume it's in a grey area here because it is undoubtedly trying to emulate capeshit, It is better than current year comics of course but I am wondering what is your opinion on it, as someone who hates manga/anime and I quite like it as fun capeshit. The reason I do not post this on /a/ is first of all they are unrepentant faggots and I feel like Holla Forums will have a better prescriptive on this. Also does anyone know other good notable examples of Non-westerners trying their hand at the genre? I will post the first chapter for those who have not seen the series before to give you a taste. If you want me to post more just ask and I will.

TWO NUKES WEREN'T ENOUGH!!!

this belongs on /a/, not here. fuck off.

Not a grey area. This sin't the capeshit board, it's the Western comics and cartoons board. Yes, capeshit is overrepresented in these media, but that doesn't mean anything befitting the capeshit genre should be discussed here. /a/ are faggots, but they're still the better fit for this series. Go teach them to be cool faggots like Freddie Mercury.
>>>/a/

We have this thread every couple of months.

Why are you here OP? Got banned in /a/ for bad grammar? Just go to another weeb board

Goes on /a/.

Technically it should be allowed but the second we start allowing manga just because they're technically comics will be the second we start to become /a/2.

I think this Japanese comic is great. Even their Batman knockoff is great.

OP, first of all, we have this thread all the fucking time.
Second, /a/ loves it and I'm pretty sure there's always a thread up for it, this is an imageboard, if you like an animu and mango just go to /a/ and post about it, don't be a faggot.
Third, it is emulating capeshit but it is essentially shonenshit, made in Japan. It might be good capeshit and shonenshit but it's not western, so a thread specifically about it and not about japs trying to emulate western comics in general really isn't the best thread to do here.
Fourth, trying to post a mango while saying stuff like
and
while posting a manga just makes you sound insecure.
Basically OP is a huge faggot.

You are not wrong

Why not just clamp down in discussion of animation and waifus, or whatever else they get up to in /a/?
I think half the time western comics fans aggressively avoid manga is the fact they're afraid they'll enjoy it. I used to be like that until I got into Death Note, I still go British for my war and sport stories, though, but I haven't touched 2000AD in years.
Also by chance I read the first volume of MHA around the same time I was reading the first 20-odd issues of Avengers in one of those Essentials books. MHA blows CURRENT YEAR Marvel out of the water, but it's got nothing on the Silver Age.

Read both and either medium isn't superior to the other, Manga is just as shit and the good shit is underground too, just replace shonenshit or moeshit with capeshit and you'll have a similar situation, not to mention that it's kept by translating faggots. Horriblesubs has a lot of marxist cucks working there.

While we're sort of on the subject, I haven't seen this posted yet: Batman and the Justice League, the DC-licensed manga appearing in Champion RED, started in the middle of June.
The main character is a Japanese girl with apparent yarn / wool-based powers (my moonspeak is still embarrasingly bad, so I wasn't able to pick out her name). She's on holiday in Gotham City (her tourist guide talks about the famous superheroes of America, which it would in the DC Universe, I suppose) when her taxi encounters a cop car just stopped on a bridge. She goes up to it, and one cop is apparently dead, but then comes back to life and attacks her, as does the other one. They go through her stuff and find a katana, then she reveals her power level and fights them, but gets shot. The Batman shows up and kicks their asses. He says they went crazy because they were drinking "Gaia Juice", which is being made in a circus-looking factory called "Joker Park", the Joker is clownish, and has a manga face, but is otherwise Heath Ledger. He's captured "Gaia", somehow, and is holding her captive in some magic bubble.
Basically it's one of the more hard-bitten Shonen / Seinen stories with a DC coat of paint. Oh, the intro also mentions Ley Lines, those ancient mystic things that date back to Neo Pagans making shit up in the 1920's.

thank you for the story time and the torrent, much appreciated.
I really like it it captures a lot of capeshit stuff that capeshit in the west dosnt bother o any more likeā€¦ idk, superheroism? almost all japanese capeshit misses or totally botches secret identities for some reason including this and I dont know why they cannot grasp the concept, he almost has it here with the origin of the main characters power being a secret but its not quite the same.

I guess in a world where most people have powers it's not really amazing enough to keep secret.
There was a short lived Jump series called Lady Justice about a high school girl with Superman's powers, and this boy who has a crush on her, then finds out who she is.
But it was mostly just a "porn" series, as close to "porn" as a comic aimed at 8-12 year old boys can go, anyway (and in Japan, that's way closer than in the west). She might have been bulletproof, but her clothes weren't, and the criminals were always packing machine guns or rocket launchers.

Sounds just like Empowered and Don't Meddle In My Daughter.

actually, it is

This does not belong here, be gone.

Western capeshit, dipship. Not /a/ capeshit.

I just starting watching the anime, OP. Pretty good. Thanks for the torrent.

Now, western animation and comic books are so intricate with capes that it's hard to tell them apart. Of course, there are dozens of good western animations and comics that doesn't have to do with capes, but the reality is that is even more cape media, whether it is good or bad. As for comics themselves, it never was that much of a big medium in the west as it is in Japan, specially outside of capes. I do appreciate Holla Forums for trying to go that way, so I don't exactly appreciate this thread here. This do belong to /a/, but I think Holla Forums should have a better view on it if you faggots don't shout "THIS BELONGS IN /a/!" Every fucking time like autists. This is why imageboards are dying.

the fact is if there is no discussing it here then there is no place to discuss it unfortunatly, besides, there is no real distinction between an anime and a cartoon, you cant go by something like the feel of a show because there is simply to much variety western and eastern comics and one will always stick out, you cant go by country of origin, that creates situations where you can talk about anime but only if 4 kids has butchered it or it was made in france despite clearly being an anime (wakfu)

Sadly, the well for actual discussions here is often poisoned by these threads usually devolving into dumb East/West debates that get old really quick. Even the act of starting another thread about something explicitly non-Holla Forums dooms it to derailment and bickering.

MHA isn't even bad, but things must be pretty fucked if few people actually want to talk about the things this board was made to discuss.

Did anybody expect otherwise?

I just wanna clarify why I made this thread, it was the product of late night drunk posting and I passed out right after I posted the torrent, but my general intent was not to really talk to much about MHA but to talk about generally stuff that tries to emulate western capeshit and analyse it from a Holla Forums perspective. But that rambling mess in the first post doesnt really convey that.

It's a good anime. It's more shounen-y than it is western super hero like (more focus on what it is to be a hero, friendship, NAKAMA), but I feel like the setting is pretty good and the characters are pretty nice.

I thought he was supposed to be more based on Marv from Sin City. What with the no gadgets and brutality.

Let's discuss instead why are cartoon girls so ugly and why cant they be waifus shall we? :)

Why do /a/fags constantly try to push their stuff on Holla Forums? Where does this desperate need for approval come from?
