Obama and Black People

When Obama was growing up, he was an active organizer and an active member of a black church. As president, his neoliberal policies has continued to oppress black people.

Does Obama care about black people? Did he care about it at one point and just stopped?

Or is the executive branch simply incapable of stopping the will of the capitalist class?

Dankon kaj mi atendas por via respondo.

How does Neo-Liberalism oppress blacks in particular, as opposed to all working class people?

he's only part black

Sometime I think by the time a person gets to the presidency he doesn't really have any positions or will of his own.

Or maybe, like a lot of members of oppressed people, he is under the grips of ideology and holds political beliefs the implementation of such works against his self-interest.

Obama's mother was white and so Obama is white. Don't let his lying skin deceive you.

🍀🍀🍀O'bama's🍀🍀🍀 economic policies don't oppress black people any more than any other group, really.

A group already disadvantaged by capitalism and colonialism, will face the biggest hardships under neoliberalism. The proletariat are not homogeneous and equally oppressed.

I kek'd

Why would neoliberalism see colour? It only sees money. You are the idiot tha sees colour. Not neoliberalism. Not socialism. Only those who want to look elsewhere and do nothing to change the system.

Obama's father wasn't African American. He was an African and Africans usually look down on American Blacks for being the descendants of slaves.

Just go ask any Nigerian/Ghanaian exchange student on campus.

I think Obama in 2008 may have had genuine intentions to massively reform the system and drastically improve the lives of working class Americans, but after he was elected the realities of American politics set in. He realized that not only would the political establishment of both parties not tolerate too much reform, but he was forced to rely on the favour of Wall Street and the capitalist elite, who obviously wouldn't take too kindly to having their Scrooge McDuck pile of gold slightly reduced by having to pay for public healthcare.

No, he does not. Neither do I specifically care about any race of people. Stop trying to make everything into racial/ethnic question, class should hold the first priority.

Why? Is it because he sounded genuine in his big scripted speeches?

or they threatened him.

More so because he had a history of working with poor communities in his youth and did actually try to push for reforms that would have improved the lives of many such as Obamacare.

Not saying he was revolutionary but I think he could be genuinely categorized as a socdem at least.

You're being too kind. Welfare Capitalist at best. He believed in the free market and never questioned capitalism.

Partly this, partly the fact that he already had the black vote and it was more important throughout his terms not to alienate white moderates putting too much focus on race. Getting elected is the most important, following an agenda within the guidelines of that electable platform is secondary.

Calling complete bullshit on this btw. That tone of complete authority when discussing what other cultures feel and think is the trademark of the Holla Forumstard who has never interacted with them. Pan-Africanism has always been strong on black radical tradition in North America and people like Stokely Carmichael worked with African politicians.

So basically socdem.

If capitalist society is made up of the malevolent and the stupid, Obama falls within the stupid category.

Africans can be spooked to you know? Pan africanism existing doesn't means all africans are following it, that would be like denying KKK existed because of Humanist tradition within the West.

Yes but you don't politicians walking around with KKK members on their government because that would be below them, but you do see African ones working with african-americans. Find me any evidence that there is, in the general african population, hostility towards african-americans (that is based on slavery instead of just anti-americanism that is)
