Warner Bros. Pitching For A Live-Action Superman: Red Son

So apparently it's not enough that they've already shat all over Superman in his debut film and further shat on him in Batman v. Superman, now they're going to go the full hog and turn him into an evil communist dictator.

It's like they learned nothing from Wonder Woman's good aspects.

Oh boy, can't wait for them to fuck up one of the most polarizing books in supe's comicography

Fuck this gay earth

Meh, it's a shit comic anyway. It put Superman in the Soviet Union…and then barely does anything with the idea besides reusing all the same themes and characters and plot points as before. Also, why did everyone ELSE also have to get inverted? So Batman's Russian, Wonder Woman's Russian, Lana Lang's Russian, etc, etc.

Actually, that annoys me about most Superman Elseworlds. They are rarely self-contained, they have to drag the rest of the DC Universe in there too.

Also, fuck that gay-ass ending.

The mainstream comic industry is dead enough. Now they're bloating it ever more with shitty normalfag movies. Fuck this timeline.

They don't diss Communism at all, in it. Do they? No Lex Luthor bureaucrat abusing the corrupt system to stamp him out?

Will this movie feature Truthseeker as the sidekick for Red Son-Superman as both will try to establish real Communism around the world?

I like it because its the closest thing we have to a well-written evil Superman. Next to Regime Superman from the Injustice games he is a paragon of well-writing.

Wonder Woman's Russian.
Heh, Wonder Woman was still from Temyscira in that comic.

I don't remember Soviet Superman appearing in any DC Comics. Kingdom Come is the exception I think.

Oh yeah I agree on that. It ruined the comic for me.

You know what I mean, she's no longer established in America, but in Russia.

That's not what I meant, I meant that most Superman Elseworlds stories are not self-contained to Superman's lore only, they have to drag other heroes and villains in there too. Compare with Batman's Elseworlds, most of which are restricted to using Batman lore only.

Batman v Superman was fucking great. You plebs are so obnoxious.

That's not his point but a version of Red Sun Superman does show up in an arc in the Rebirth Superman series.

I hope you all realize this will be used as an allegory for Trump and MUH RUSSIA RIGGED THE ELECTION

Lex will be the liberal American hero, while Supes will be the ebil Russian bigot.

I don't even like Russians, I actually hate them, but it's fucking embarrassing how people are pretended Russians aren't a bunch of kikes. I miss the Cold War.

That'd be like saying Hal Jordan is Russian too because he appears in this comic even though he is veteran from Nam. Besides you were naming her alongside Batman and Lana who were inexplicably Russian in the story, while Diana herself was still Greek.

Okay fair enough.

Man, literally nobody believes this shit. Not even the hacks pushing this. Its all ratings, its all that ever mattered.

I wanna say DC wouldn't be stupid enough to do this, but given they allowed Supergirl to go full blown libtard in her tv show, the possibility is very open.

Hal Jordan is in the Marine Corps, instead of the Airforce. HERSEY I SAY!! HERESY!

They hired Joss Whedon and canned Zack SYnder, they're going full libshit

Red Son's flaws aside, what really bothers me about the prospect of a live-action adaptation is how the fuck WB would even sell it to people not privy to what Elseworlds are. Especially when there's already a cloud of uncertainty around the DCEU. It'd be easier to just make another DTV animated movie and call it a day, given the success of Gods and Monsters.

Stalin doesn't give a shit about his son. His government has brutal enforcers that kill Bruce Wayne's parents for dissent. People attending Stalin's funeral have to wait in line for food rations and there isn't enough for everyone. Even with Superman leading the Soviet Union, still exceptionally kind and intelligent, it becomes a totalitarian dystopia where problem citizens are sent to the gulags or turned into brainwashed, cybernetic slaves.

The comic doesn't go out of its way to exposit on the failings of communism, but neither does it hide the problems the Soviet Union had, nor does it pretend that if there was just someone better in charge, then he could put real socialism into practice and everything would be golden.

If anything, Lex Luthor's capitalist America is the one given a pass. With the right formula, the budget can be balanced and with the right president, the country can enjoy unprecedented economic success, even with a global Soviet Union to contend with.

Nigga, you fucking dumb. Zack voluntarily stepped down from directing Justice League to spend time with his family over the grievance of his daughter's suicide. He got Joss Whedon to fill in the gaps in directing the film during post-production, meaning Whedon will only have a hand in editing.

I swear to Christ, you faggots are so fucking reactionary…

Dear God.

Are you the one calling us out of touch in other threads too?

I'd recommend everyone calm down a little. Reading the article it seems like something that was just pitched to them and that doesn't imply any movement on the matter. Chances are WB decided not to pursue a live-action Red Son adaptation (I'm sure they don't want the brand confusion that would cause).

That being said, if they were to adapt a Superman elseworlds, I'd much rather get Superman: War of the Worlds or Superman: Kal.

Isn't that Jon Stewart's thing?

Yeah, but in Redson, Marines are given Green Lantern rings

Why you always lyin'?

😂😂😂👌

Did someone say "real communism?"

Oh boy, here we go…

I find it kind of hilarious that in Red Son, Superman's global Soviet Union is an oppressive wreck that eventually collapses.

Meanwhile, Multiversity gives us Overman, a Nazi Superman, and the world regime is portrayed as more or less a haven where the citizens are content.

Why is it that whenever these cucks try to show how much such "oppressive futures" suck, they end up making them into futuristic utopias and their only excuse is "well, kicking out da kikes wuz bad".

Fuck that, if kicking out the kikes meant we get a heaven on Earth, sign me up for putting a jackboot in rebel asses.

Of course we got a bunch of journalist kvetching about wrongthink, but they can go fellate a shotgun.

The problem with these kind of movies is that they haven't set ups a Superman character we know yet. This is a problem with most superhero movies that try to adapt elseworlds and large event comics. Most of them require the audience to be aware of some sort of status quo that never actually happens. We get a Superman origin movie where no one even calls him Superman until the last 20 minutes, and then the next film he's fighting Batman and dies. We get a Batman origin movie, and then the next movie he retires after one year. DKR takes place 8 years later and Batman's some sort of legend that people still talk about despite only being around for 8-12 months. People wouldn't refer to the "legendary Batman", they'd talk about that weird guy that dressed up like a bat for a bit. The only live-action super hero movies that really got it right were the Donner Superman and the Raimi Spiderman ones.

That's not true at all, it's radically different. Did you read the fucking thing? It also puts the Superman/Lex Luthor relationship in a whole new light and frames his "big evil capitalist" persona as something heroic.

Lex Luthor essentially wins at the end and creates a perfect capitalist utopia on Earth after Superman fakes his own death.

Storytime?

...

I guess they're trying to appeal to the antifa crowd. :^)

Overman Earth was gold and he just let burgers rebels jihad the fuck out everything because white guilt.
Talking about that, when they will do a Overman kino?

I have a sick ass action figure of commie Supes planting the USSR action figure but I got in trouble using it to decorate my desk :(

*planting the flag

Overman is post-population purges, Red Son Superman never did population purges so he never had the guilt. DC hates making superman actually evil, other than ultraman, so as a self identified protector he'd feel guilty for the post-war culling. That's why he dialed it back a bit when he came back

There's also very little given on Overman's earth since it wasn't a series all it's own. There's still a lot mystery.

I'd love to see an adaption for Human bomb. Hi s allah akbar was the coolest thing in Multiversity.

What kind of drugs are they currently smoking

I like The ending where luthor got superman to die by saving earth from blackholes

Why don't you put the whole world in a bottle, Superman?

What happened in those?

Calm now, comrade. As long as you submit to the truth of the superiority of communism and realize its perfection, you will only serve one week in gulag.
Be an Edgyptian though, and you will never know anything but gulag.

...

ls the City bottler a commie?

You do know the mainstream audience is that dumb right?

I doubt this pitch went anywhere. To do this film would require an explanation of the Multiverse, and I'm sure they'd go with something like Forever Evil first.

That film linking JL to JLU featuring the crime syndicate supposed to do that, the name should be "3 earth crisis" and the Batman Vs Owlman fighting scene was planned to feature in the "real world".
Two actors fighting in the Warner animation studios.
