Putting a wall up against immigration doesn't make it more attractive to enter a country. Putting a wall up against an economy makes it attractive to try to immigrate to that economy if you feel you will benefit from the higher wage rates etc.

Any business owner who employs low-skilled workers benefits from having more low-skilled workers around, it's true that anyone who has any need benefits from having more people competing to provide that need as best and as cheaply as possible. This incentive is ubiquitous, but it's less feasible for individuals to lobby the government to use said government's unearned monopoly power over the economy to benefit them, that's much more easily done by businesses, which is precisely why the idea that regulations help the little guy and reign in big business is so precious.

In case you're going to get pedantic and cry about how this isn't worded properly given what heritability means, I'll reword it, when genetic variation is, by far, the primary factor determining variation in height, Asian populations will still be shorter (on average) than white populations, even though it's true that in poorer countries Asian populations will have a much less significant heritability coefficient to their height, we still know that the "full expression" (or something close to that) of Asian genes is going to result in a shorter individual, on average.
