Gravity Falls turns 5 years old today

>>>/out/

That can't possibly be true.
Holy shit, it's true.

We live in a world where my little pony has more seasons and a bunch of fucking horsefuckers have more sense than Alex Hirsch and his crew.

Lets post porn to celebrate

second pic is great, first is shit, what was slimer in gravity falls?

Sad it should suffer the same fate as Twin Peaks - one fantastic season and, and a great first-half of a second season.

Everything turned pearshaped once Stanford got introduced.

Let's be real; the only thing that could've saved the show is if Rick Sanchez walked through that portal.

I wouldn't have minded the character, but suddenly Dipper latched onto him and all that character development than he and Stan had flew right out the window. Up until then it was neat to see those two characters help each other grow.

Eh, I don't think it would have turned out any good if he wasn't there. Given the many delays with Hirsch wanting to do his own stuff and the constant creative differences battle, it was even lucky to last 2 seasons. Clearly, it was intended to last 3 seasons so they had to rush a lot of things for the second half since that plan was cut short. They went season 1 korra towards the end to wrap everything into a nice neat bow.

I think it would have been better if he remained mysterious. Cloaked in shadow, helping behind the scenes, but never being fully revealed. It's sad because I liked the show up until it was obvious that they didn't know how to end the show in a satisfactory manner, after being given a shorter time limit to wrap it up.

I wonder what Hirsch's next show will be. I've heard rumors that Fox gave him a contract to develop a show for them. Something tells me it's going to be another sophomoric, vulgar "comedy" in the vein of Family Guy. That seems to be the only kind of animated format that normies will accept.

It’ll probably aim for the SJW crowd as well…

I think the ID of the author was their “who killed Laura Palmer?” hook – once they got it out of the way it started falling apart quickly.

The reveal should have been the cliffhanger of the second season – not midway thru it. Then they’d have a whole season to let everyone (the characters and the audience) connect with Stanford and set up Bill and the series finale in a proper way. Season two was pretty decent up until the reveal. I don’t think I enjoyed a single episode afterward.

It kind of looks more like snot than cum.

Where the fuck did the time go???

...

96'er here, BOY you could feel the quality dipping during the 2000's, especially the shit they shoved out on canadian networks.

Does Hirsch own GF or does Disney or is it a Penders type situation?

...

I found the full size and Dipper's goo looks better but it definitely has a greenish cast.

I don't know, but we'd better find it and fast. I'm not supposed to be in my mid 20's.
I'M 18 I TELL YOU!!

Hey kid, wanna reset the universe?

I've never seen a show repeatedly get so far to the verge only to backpedal so hard it managed to crawl into its ass, every single time. Hirsch was always this close to admitting that Mabel got away with shit because she was the cute/quirky one but I don't know if it was his relationship with his sister or the other writers that stopped the show from admitting this. I think most of society has this hang up about admitting they enable shitty people to do shittty things and that explains way too much.

Do you think Hirsch actually meant to to make Mabel the way she ended up or did he and the rest of the staff just write themselves into a corner with her?

There's a lot of ways it could have happened, including even Hirsch realizing and trying to write scenes pointing out his self insert got unfairly shit on but executives overruled him to pander to female demographics, but my best guess is he tried writing Mabel in a way he thought was sympathetic but didn't come through in the episodes.
