Publicly Voicing Radical Opinions

I was reading the Mr Robot thread and it made me think: how many of you are public about your radical political stances? Has it effected relationships with friends/family? Has it changed the way they see you?

Is there a good way of voicing radical beliefs without seeming like a paranoid schizophrenic autist or an edgy teenager?

I'm hugely open about being a gommie. I have an IWW phone case to trigger any conservatives I stumble upon, and I wear a ushanka with a Soviet hammer and sickle on it, despite not being a tankie. Though I think most people think I'm doing it for the edge and not out of genuine belief. Sometimes even I think that's true.

With people at work and other normies, I hide it mostly.
On FB… I only use my fake fb nowadays, so I can say whatever I want. Back on real.. I limited it as much as possible.
With family and friends am more open, but still try to .. fit in and not go too radical, without making it seem like a joke.

"Ha ha, let the banks colapse, am I right?"

I was more open when I was younger. You never stop being a commie. You only learn to hide it. It's sad actually.

I'm in the closet except for friends. My job relies on servicing the upper-middle class and it's very likely I would be fired if it came out I'm a leftist. Hopefully shit works out where I can be more open about it.

Become a respected academic like Noam Chomsky or become wealthy, those are your only options

wat's dat?

Or just any kind of famous person like zizek

Didn't seem to work for Russell Brand.

Don't use big, scary words like "communism" or "bourgeois". Don't refer to figures such as Marx, Engels or Lenin. At least, not at first.

Don't antagonize people. If they spew dumb shit, don't call them out for it; simply tell them why you think they're wrong. If they're receptive, you can gradually switch to a sterner tone.

Don't be afraid to cites books or studies. It shows you're not pulling your claims out of your ass. Don't overdo it though, or you'll be dismissed as "intellectualist".

Don't neglect your integrity. Unambiguously condemn popular nutjobs some might try to associate you with, such as conspiracy theorists.

Read that as

Because nobody wants to hear a celebrity complain about capitalism in between fucking Katy Perry and attending glitzy coke-fuelled parties with other celebrities

A Celebrity that makes it big only to appear on Larry King or whatever and start giving a speech over capitalism and communism and so on..

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'D CALL ENTRYISM!

So to answer your question OP, not very much because the average moron is so fucking spooked that it's a waste of time. I now only make the occasional FB post praising whoever has the guts to kill some fucking pigs and that's all.

please tell me this post is bait

Cant tell if this is bait or just really fucking ultra.

Voice radical opinions, just don't call yourself a communist. If you do it becomes easy for people to discount what you're saying in their head

But don't deny being a communist if people accuse you

My comrades in a students' union I'm in criticized my stance on supporting gun rights and violent revolution

Oh and that almost got me arrested by the fucking police

tbh you will get shot or arrested if you call yourself a Communist in my country

Nah, I say you should deny it. Just say something like "I'm no communist, I just think we should question the system or something"

Your radical opinions are already widely voiced. Just listen to what comes out of the mouth of Hillary and the other Democraps

If you don't confront it you allow it to become a weapon against you

>>>Holla Forums

Not in my experience. Calling oneself a communist allows people to ignore everything you say.

Besides, there isn't a point in calling myself a communist if there is no political movement to ally with at the moment.

No way. We may be autistic, but we're not retarded enough to equate the fucking Civil Rights Movement with modern day idpol

I keep to myself on it.

Partially because I'm newfag as fuck and don't think I'm well-informed enough yet to do leftism justice so I feel as of now I'd make things worse if anything.

Also I think subtlety is valuable, particularly in the case of anarchism as an American. Instead of outing yourself as edgy from the beginning, you can come at it from the angle of "freedum from da gubberment" and then explain that private property requires some sort of enforcement from a state-like structure and you are not in favor of that.

It helps to use nationalism and spooky shit to your advantage. If you out yourself as a commie from the very beginning no one's gonna listen to you.

Honestly, in the less conservative states at least, I can talk about how global capitalism is destroying the environment, destabilizing the Middle East, had
negative effects on mental health, exploits the third world, and so on, but as soon as communism or actual socialism is mentioned people immediately shit down any open dialogue with you. I know many people who have realized the destructive power of capitalism but don't believe and better form of government is possibly, and believe that humanity is doomed.

Unfortunately true. And the worst way to try to counter this problem is by defining yourself through some specific school of Socialism.

As they should. Gun rights are important but from the get go declaring support for "violent revolution" in a stage where the Left is a few thousand people at best is just typical entry-level LARPer shit.

it hasn't cost me too many freinds and, im quite open about my beleifs
