Well, it is a Frenchfag writing it. Stereotype of Americans over there (and Europe in general) is that they are moralizing and religious nuts who obsess over politics way too much. First two especially apply to the southerners. You can also notice that New Yorkers in first tome are rude and multiple American characters are greedy or drug addicts. Singer is American too and her entire act revolves around politics as well and songs have horrible lyrics
Until recently, the last story of of American fanatics who were involved in physical altercations was Westbroo Baptist Church. That's probably what Arleston is building off of. That and bad American pop singers who try to "make a difference" but do it for their egos and popularity.

Villain is not bad because he is a white christian male, but because he is a hypocritical zealot who manipulates people and incites violence. Book's "message" is not that "X group is bad because of their beliefs" but that hypocrisy, violence, and controlling speech of others are. This is far more nuance than you could get out of a modern Marvel comic. Besides, if Soleil released a book that portrays Muslims as being violent, Muslims would get violent and storm their offices.

Well, that's a real disappointment.
