Did Steve Wozniak really say that? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. No wonder Apple, Inc. evolved into a consumerist's toy-market.
Try not to jerk off
Why was it thrown away though?
Hello Raptor shill! I'll buy your overpriced reference implementation once it's actually out.
Enjoying your day off from school?
Why did your mom throw away "your" computer? Is it because of all the porn on it?
This post actually made me cringe
I honestly hate Woz. He's basically the epitome of why I hate "open source" and its faux-altruism paradoxically paired with so-called pragmatism, which is actually just consists of shallow faux-utilitarian posturing like with those tiny houses in the woods that rich people fethishize for being "green" despite being such an inefficient means of housing. But I think the deeper sentiment in this quote is that being too invested financially into one piece of hardware can basically usurp any immediate freedoms it might offer. This can reflect a lot more than just consumer hardware on an individual scale. It's more about you as a consumer becoming dependent on something out of practical merit by submitting yourself to a power structure where you're ultimately not in charge.
Ironically, that quote is kind of what this thread is all about--in a good way.

Open source exists for the purpose of pragmatism. People who promote open source and reject the message of freedom do so because they want the pragmatism of collaborative software development to make software technically proficient.
What's so inefficient about small houses in the middle of the woods? I would have thought that it's the most efficient kind of reliable shelter!
