How does Noam Chomsky never get criticism for ignoring issues pertaining to idpol like racism sexism and hemophobia?
Any socialist group or figure will get TONS of shit for ignoring or rejecting identity politics (WSWS, Zizek, S█████ etc). How does Chomsky get away with it?

He's old and a secular ex-Jew so he gets many oppression points from the idpol camp. He's gotten a lot of shit for discarding liberal gender theory as unscientific posturing in the past, though.
I imagine it's the time period. He was in his prime in the 70s wasn't he? It was a different period for leftism.

A friend of mine, who is a lifelong Trotskyist and radical feminist, told me one time how she pressed Chomsky during one of his talks in Boston a few years ago. She asked him about racism and police brutality (this was pre-BLM but she's also a huge prison abolitionist) and his response to her was something along the lines of: "The world is turning brown." She got upset at how cavalier he was at such a pressing issue.
I also see a lot of hardcore Chomskyism dying down, especially after his semi-endorsement of Hillary. People are starting to realize he's not nearly as radical today as he was in his prime 40 years ago.
Why does it not surprise me that troskite would be embodiment of idpol?
Well there's WSWS, but I suppose they split from the rest of the Trots.

I don't see how asking a super-popular leftist intellectual a question concerning police violence and racism is "idpol" but whatever.
Talk of racism is, since it rises form economic conditions.
The origin of racism is indeed rooted in the rise of capitalism. But critique of racist ideology is not in-itself idpol; rather it's when anti-racism is used to justify things that reinforce the capitalist order (such as putting minorities in positions of power and calling that progress)

What is that debate like. I read somewhere that they really got nowhere so I never bothered watching it.
Enjoyable. Second half that's dedicated to politics is the best part (partially due to Chomsky getting rekt)
