You know how Gnosticism is practiced? Historically it has been with two prevailing philosphies:

Much of Greek thought was dualistic in nature. Salvation was found through "escaping" the body, for it was believed that man is a basically good spirit trapped in an evil body.

Ascetics, depriving the body through fasts and monastic living and demanding followers abstain from sexual conduct of any kind, including the forbidding of marriage.

Hedonists, who reasoned that since the goal of salvation was to be rid of your physical body and since your spirit really wasn't involved in/impacted by your physical bodily actions, why not just have fun, eat, drink, sex, etc. They often engaged in extremes of immorality, though there were certain branches of "qualitative hedonists" who would put restrictions on hedonistic behavior in order to get the best type of pleasure - while being unable to explain why this "best" type was to be considered "best".

It's far into the hypothesis category for now. There's no pope of science that declared that paleontologists say chickens came from T Rex. The only evidence we have of that particular claim is a similar bone structure and traces of collagen in T Rex fossils. That has little to do with the theory of evolution as a whole.

Evolution doesn't care about what's "best." It doesn't really "care" about anything. "It" isn't even a thing in the same way many other scientific principals are a thing. If an animal happens to mutate, those genes are passed down. If animals with that gene reproduce, the gene survives. With enough mutations compounding on top of one another, offspring may be so far removed from their ancestors genetically that they can no longer interbreed with other offspring of the same ancestor.

Evolution is not an invisible hand which sculpts the organisms of earth. It is simply the understanding that some things breed and others don't.
