Direct Action Against Businesses that Employ Robots

Should direct action be taken against businesses that are currently replacing human employees with robots?

For example, vandalizing buildings (with the clear message this wouldn't happen if they hired people again), protesting on sidewalks near these businesses to not attract as many customers, so that it becomes more expensive to employ robots due to public backlash than to employ people.

I'll post with my opinion shortly.

No.

It'd just make them stronger, tbh

maybe make make an emp bomb

they will just use that as publicity to say you are violent, what you need to do is acquire leet haxor skills to fuck with their shit.

Yes
Fuck your bullshit. It should happen if they hire people too.

No, in the long term getting machines to do the more routine jobs is moving us in the direction of fully automated luxury communism. In the shorter term, I think those leftists who aren't completely dismissive of reforms within the current system (as opposed to focusing solely on socialist revolution, which doesn't seem too likely as a near-future possibility) should use examples of jobs lost to machines to push for universal basic income, and if that's not politically feasible yet, more public works types jobs paid for by taxes, and anything else that might help someone who loses a job like extending unemployment benefits, job training programs etc.

Yes, not because of the robots, but because they are still slaves to capital.

OP here.

Protesting, I believe, is the least effective of the two. The only two places I've seen automation are fast food joints and gas stations. For fast food, many of the patrons don't care about long-lasting effects and far-reaching goals, they just want fried food. It would be a waste of time and resources (both human, and the food and water to keep protesters going) and footage could be used to make us look like fools. We can't even protest directly on the property.

As far as vandalism goes: You could spray paint, but that's easily washed off. You could break windows, I suppose, and it would take some time out to fix them that could otherwise be for business, but it doesn't take long to replace windows and they aren't that expensive. An attack on the drive-through menus/machines could take longer to fix, but then people can just go indoors. Arson would be the most devastating, but it's the most drastic and potentially jeopardizes homes if things got out of hand. It'd have to be done at night so as not to hurt people. It'd look terrible on television. If it happened enough times (not that many), they might start employing security guards.

Overall, it doesn't directly advance us to communism, though it may encourage more people to get involved like this–it could prove fighting back against corporate oppressors is an option and successful one at that–if we could ensure the media couldn't portray us as violent. It could encourage low-grade class consciousness (that hopefully advances), which could also be beneficial. Automation is actually a good thing, though, so we'd have to be careful to not let the focus be on destroying working robots, but on businesses dumping humans into poverty and eventually mass unemployment out of greed.

I meant to say, gas stations, people just need gas. Also you can't light that shit on fire. That'd be fucking insane.

Yes

Why do loosers hate progress? If you can't compete with a machine then you're no better then the people on Holla Forums who complain about low skilled immigrants. Every single person born in the west (1st world muh privilege) had every opportunity to earn a degree and actually CONTRIBUTE something. If you didn't you've only got yourself to blame.

Take the copper wire and wrap it around the rod, TIGHTLY. As tight as possible. Once you are finished there will be a wire sticking out on either end.

Take the Camera Circuit (Taser) and solder the ends of the wires to the Capacitor. Make sure it is shorted first and the battery is out, unless you want to end up like the criminals mentioned in the Taser guide.

No, automation is good, take action to take ownership of these robots from capitalists however

No human can compete with machines that are literally built to do a specific task

Also capitalists deserve to be looted/vandalized regardless of whether they have robots or not

I was just venting impotent rage at my own situation.

No. We should educate ourselves, advance robot technology and make it freely available instead. Every step closer to technological unemployability of the masses is one step closer the end of capitalism.

i think that would be counterproductive, you'd be better off joining a revolutionary party. no matter how i spin it in my head it just doesnt seem like it would be worth getting a record over fam.

No, not yet.

There will come a crossroads where computers take up so many jobs that the rich will either be forced to give into UBI or try to let us all stare. If they choose the later then we riot.

Hello, Ned.

No, I don't think this would work. But I would recommend recruiting people who got fired or are in danger of being fired.

Last time they resorted to using army and purges to root out cells of malcontents.

Good luck with that. Luddites literally became synonymous with insane bigots, scared of technology.

wtf no. We need Fully Automated Luxury Communism

Also robots are good. They bring manufacturing jobs back to the first world thereby reducing exploitation of 3rd world workers, which arguably is bad for 3rd world economy, but I believe good for everyone in the long run. Any service industry that can be automated, like your picture of McDonald's is not work pleasurable for humans anyway. Abolishment of manual labor with the help of machines goes back all the way to William Godwin in anarchist tradition. This is not the time to become anti-technology.
Direct action is better aimed at banks IMO.

Vandalizing their business would be immoral. If you don't like them then why not stop patronizing their business in favor of someone else?

No, what the fuck? Job destruction is something that we should hope for in the future.

Fuck off ludite.

I don't see why it's not a good idea to organise workers who lose their jobs to robots.
