Why KKK is a true proletarian socialist movement

Throughout American history, the Ku Klux Klan has been portrayed as a brutally racist and intolerant Christian fundamentalist group, fueled by pure hatred for non-white people. The crimes they've committed against ethnic minorities are a symbol of the dark aspect of American history.

But what most people don't realize, is that the KKK are largely a working class movement, maintained to protect the interests of working class Americans who don't want their heritage and culture taken over by capitalist degeneracy. This is highly rejected among almost all of the left wing circle, claiming the KKK are a racist nationalist Christian fanatics violent group who want to kill all black people, but most of these criticisms are from liberal capitalist sources with little to no relevance or accuracy. In this journal, I will tackle some of the most common arguments.

The Ku Klux Klan is not a racist movement. They are a movement to preserve racial heritage and proletarian identity, they do not wish to promote racial superiority or extermination of any races. These are the instances when minorities and their rights are mentioned. The KKK fully respects the existence and rights of other races, so long as they respect the culture of people of European descent. This is perfectly compatible with socialism, for mutual respect between races and cultures is an extremely important aspect of international working class collaboration, in order to work with someone for mutual development, you need understanding, and understanding cannot be achieved without mutual respect and trust.

Though the Ku Klux Klan are a Christian organization which prefers violent solutions to solve their problems, this cannot be a basis to which socialists can criticize them. It is common knowledge that a majority of Americans are religious, specifically Christians, and thus the Klan uses Christianity as a mean to unite the working class under a specific identity, not as an "opiate of the masses", and the fact that there were numerous influential past left wing Christians (Hugo Chavez, Dorothy Day, Eugene V. Debs, etc) supports this. From the lessons of helping the poor and the weak done by Jesus, to the opposition to the accumulation of capital, it cannot be denied that Christianity is perfectly compatible with socialism. Thus, saying the KKK isn't socialist because they're Christian is simply wrong.

Next, some people like to point out their preference for violence, yet this is another fallacy that robs the Ku Klux Klan off their genuinity, being a revolutionary and passionate socialist movement. Those who use this argument are usually reformist social democrats, which I will argue are not socialists nor leftists in the first place, for they do not oppose to capitalist degeneracy the same way true socialists do. The Klan faces threats from everywhere, from the government constantly infiltrating them to ravage revolutionary efforts to actual Christian right wing fundamentalist movements opposing them for being socialist. Their use of violence is perfectly justified, for they are acts of revolutionary self-defense, against the capitalists and the reactionaries.

"A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery; it cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another."

This quote from Chairman Mao Zedong of the Chinese communist party sums up perfectly how the KKK have all their rights to exercise violence, they cannot be pacifist Green Party activists, they have to be violent as a struggle towards socialism. In fact, I'd argue that the Klan is doing a lot more efforts than the numerous armchair revolutionaries and dogmatist doctrinists of the Communist Party of the USA (which publicly opposes a violent revolution), Revolutionary Communist Party USA (a cult of Bob Avakian) or Socialist Alternative (a faux-socialist liberal organization).

One even more ridiculous claim to disprove the Ku Klux Klan is that they simply are a "nationalist" group. While this is definitely true from what we could see from their website, this argument has no impact whatsoever on how genuine the KKK is as a socialist workers organization. Left wing nationalism is not a new thing, numerous national liberation and patriotic movements of the past and present were and are leftist, namely the Indian National Congress, Sinn Fein of Ireland, Labor Zionist Movement of Israel, the Scottish National Party of Scotland, and most noticeably, the African National Congress of South Africa, which ended the racist apartheid system. Some more radical instances of left wing nationalism were the Viet Congs, the Chinese Maoist Revolutionaries and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, all of which successfully established socialist states and still survive to this day.

From this article, it is quite obvious that the KKK of the USA, painted as a right wing fascistic racist nationalist fanatically religious movement, are in fact, completely justifiable as a proletarian, working class, revolutionary movement. This article served to clear the misunderstandings about the Ku Klux Klan, as well as open up an opportunity for the organization to receive direct support from sympathetic leftists, with no more distrust or dishonesty. May the revolutionary spirit of the KKK live on.
