Im so depressed socialism lost. Some nights I listen to communist songs about fallen heroic comrades and how their sacrifices weren't in vein because the bright new future they fought for is right around the corner and I just want to fucking kill myself. Many of those nights I end up crying myself to sleep.
And the best part is no one understands it, everyone around me is blissfully ignorant and even my gf who knows about this just thinks I'm weird.

From Brazil. I have no prospect of any radical change happening in this country, for a long time. There is no mass movements that support wholeheartedly the left or the right. Things are looking grin, as they always were, as we returned to a economy based on the exportation of primary commodities (since the 90s).
Crime and poverty are the norm. There is no sense of economic or personal (day to day life) security for proles (and even for porkies, which is even more terrifying because you'd think at least they would have access to a more "secure" existence).
Our left became coddled with the State. They were, in some way, accommodated under the political structure of our democracy and the respectfulness that PT offered (but not anymore). The stalinists, trotskyists, even "anarchists, and others are a joke, they have no support from/for the population. (Which is funny because the Trots are huge in Argentina).
The fight, in the economic field, was won by neoliberals. The fight on the political field is being fought between NeoLiberals and proponents of some type of Social-Democracy/Welfare State.
I consider myself as some kind of Lelninist (with a sniff of pure ideology man). After accepting a kind of pragmatist position and even helping both anarchists and leninists organizations to try and gather some public attention (or anything, at all) to a different kind of approach to politics, economy and social life…I don't know, things do not look good.

The stalinist party just happens to be a particularly rare flavour of politico scum.
Our unions were essentially "killed" with the transition from the Fordist mode of production to a Toyotist one, diminishing the numbers of industrial workers by the thousands. And the economical step taken in the '90s from a "national developmentalism" policy (with heavy emphasis on the industrial sector of the economy) to a exportation based policy (with emphasis on speculative capital/cambial trade), did only reassure the killing of the bargain power of the Unions.
And they were the main force propelling our Left, at least in the second half of the 20th century. The workers were made into informal laborers - ie. what Jesse de Souza calls "ralé" and "batalhadores" (categories for the new stratifications of the working class, excluded from formal work). Our "revolutionary agent" is becoming less and less revolutionary (if it ever was anyway) and even less capable of being a person, under the future living conditions.
And, yeah. The left found the university students, professors, and so on, as a type of temporary "replacement" its own de-massification, imo. The ideology of the ruling class was absorbed in their rhetoric, theory and praxis. I suspect the next presidential election to become a shit show akin to the American one, to be honest; talks about economic, social and political matters are being shunned by either an retarded ruling class that contents itself with being the butt of the joke of the capitalist world or a leftist "representation" of the working people that double talks as a living.
