I'm not saying you CANT have a balanced diet without meat, but all means you can. What I AM saying, is that it's a shit ton easier to feed a population with a steak than it is with seeds and supplements. When establishing a new society, when food shortages are a very real threat, you need to be programmatic, and this means embracing meat.

I even admit myself that the meat industry today is fucked, but then again a lot of this is due to capitalism, and things wouldnt be nearly as bad without battery farming.

I doubt anyone would argue for the benefits of veganism in a revolutionary period, we would eat what we could.
However in a socialist society meat is not pragmatic because it precisely is easier and more efficient to provide a meatless diet than it is to maintain a meat industry.

Yea this is exactly what I'm saying. Once things are stabilized we can take another look at how we wanna handle meat and animals. It could probably be decentralized and done in local community levels for anyone that does want to eat meat, instead of the large scale we have today, but that's of course all subjective to the society and climate that it's happening in.
