Rogue One is Disneyshit, not one of the prequels. It's clearly done as a prelude to ANH, not as a culmination of the prequels. Its only links to the prequels are tenuous at best, those being Bail Organa, Mon Mothma's Episode 3 actor, Clone Turbo Tank-looking thing as a prison transport, Vader's Mustafar lair and Saw Gerrera, if you count Clone Wars, even though it could easily have been an original character.

I genuinely feel that the original star wars did a great job of getting a bunch of terrible exposition out of the way with its title crawl so viewers could get to the meat of the movie.

Imagine if A New Hope didn't have the opening crawl. You could still easily tell what was happening & figure out basic back story using the first 10 minutes.
