Both NK and SK seem like different kind of kike experiments.

I was thinking about this yesterday, and I think North Korea's purpose is to launch a Nuclear Attack, So Russia and China have plausible deniability.

Imagine a conflict between Russia and the US. The US, and it's NATO allies have weaponry that relies mostly on network communication. NATO navigation uses GPS. Both of these functions need satellites to work. The obvious strategy to counter these is to disable or destroy the satellites.

The easiest way to do this is launching and detonating a hydrogen bomb in the Van Allen Belt. The radiation that remains trapped in the magnetic filed of the Earth fries the circuits in the satellites.

Here comes the problem though. Russia signed an agreement which bans the use of nuclear weapons in space. This is where North Korea comes into the picture. Best Korea is diplomatically isolated, and they didn't sign anything. They have nothing that can stop them from using nukes.

Another aspect of this is the possible retaliation of Americans in case of a nuclear attack against them. Should that happen, they'd retaliate with their nuclear force. If Russia can deny their involvement in the attack against the U.S. there is a chance for limited nuclear war, which means America glasses Best Korea. Their geographic positiona guarantees that fallout from nuclear strikes won't fall in Russia and China, but mostly on Japan. This also discourages an all-out nuclear war.

NK is allowed to exist on the American side because it justifies the existence of massive American military bases in South Korea (near China).

China begrudgingly tolerates it (Chinese people feel the same way about Norks that Indonesians feel about the Chinese) and feeds all of them because their government and economy are much more fragile than they'd like to admit. China is a quasi-capitalist communist-structured totalitarian state with a social contract based entirely on economic prosperity, which is rapidly fleeing the country. Long-running corruption + spike in Chinese poverty + communist propaganda indoctrination from birth - any collective memory of the last revolution = a country very susceptible to purging all of the current CCP "rightists" and going full Cultural Revolution 2: Electric Boogaloo. A swarm of starving, indoctrinated, Nork refugees could very well spell the end of the CCP. At the very least it would really damage their ability to control the northeast, which is where most their nukes are stored. So they pay to keep them starving and quarantined in NK, hoping that the problem eventually solves itself. This is actually the way China deals with every problem it has.

The Norks know that both sides want them to stay in a schrodinger's cat situation forever, so when they want concessions or gibs they just threaten the status quo and get whatever they want.

The leaders actually have zero principals, Juche is literally made up on the fly and has no actual tenants what so ever. Ask any Nork to define it and they all give different answers.

The leaders give no fucks about the people, only their ability to continue to blackmail the rest of the world with their existence. NK and SK are the continuation of the cold war era-styled skirmishes commies and allies have had. Both are grounds for each faction's social and economic experiments, NK is faring better than SK by virtue of its army actually being loyal to the dictator and its people not be poz'd to hell and back, neither is achieving a definite victory. Most likely once either block will collapse, one Korea will eat up the other and they'll restore a different form of govt to rule the whole.

My guess is that the Norks are really waiting to see how the US-CCP relationship changes before doing anything for the time being. They're probably terrified. Trump's indicated a lack of fear with upsetting the status quo, and that's what feeds them. They are probably begging for their lives to the CCP as we speak. They may continue saber-rattling in public to test his resolve or try to frighten the rest of the American establishment into line.

They are a bargaining chip in the upcoming China-US showdown. I doubt they like being a bargaining chip, but thems the brakes. Since they didn't actually develop their ability to be a real independent nation their future is now outside of their own hands.

They had a famine in the 90s. It improved to livable conditions since then, but they are far from prosperous. Their main problems are stemming from worldwide sanctions imposed on them and chinks giving them just enough goods to ensure relative stability. Their agricultural sectors suffers from some key factors, one being that they lack fuel. Military has enough fuel for 100 day offensive and that is their primary focus. This severely limits their capabilities to harvest as much as possible. Then you have the famed controversial dam project that flooded farmlands.
