But in E.Europe there were locals selected as leaders who were then trusted, who then gave out money to friends who joined the church. What's fucked up is that this was discovered and people were removed from positions. The problem was fixed. But many people officially on the rolls quit. We were there 5-6 years later ish and there was a big mystery of why hundreds of people all quit at once (still on our rolls but didn't come) at that time. I suspect these little groups connected with the corporate structure in Europe, and formed a sort of "shadow" hierarchy in the church. I was a loyal believe then so I didn't make a drink about it. I did tell leaders and they were like "thanks son". And that was it.
