ITT: Movies with Marxist undertones
Marxist Movies
The bee movie was just retarded to bee honeyst
are there any movies where bourgies get killed and it's not presented as a tragedy?
You motherfucker
Why is bee movie always given as an example as a leftist movie? Is it a dank meme that's been going over my head, or does it actually have leftist undertones?
lucky star
To bee fair, it's just a children's movie.
I guess he main idea is that the bees do all the work and the beekeeper goes by once in a while to collect the honey without doing labour, then the bees go to court to get the full fruit of their labour and reparations or something.
Because Jerry Seinfeld is a Jew and communism is a Jewish ideology of course :^)
I heard somewhere that the matrix was kind of a Marxist movie, I dunno.
a bugs life except for the bit where everyone except the queen has to collect food
The directors were inspired by Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation, but it's not directly anti-capitalism IMO.
It wasn't all that great of a movie, but I think Elysium kind of fits the bill.
...
My god…
hail Yahweh tbh
Not sure about the matrix movies per se, but the shorts Second Renaissance part I and II are totally about a workers' nation and the long term inviability of socialism in one country.
Really maeks u tink :-DDD
Ay LMAO!
fuck off this is a cunt free zone
...
...
wasn't Bugs Life way more communist? I remember hating it when I was in my ayncrap phase.
The politics in Akira are kind of complicated, actually. You'll recall for instance that the revolution going on in the background of the movie is basically being controlled by the mole - who is basically a caricature of capitalists.
The Wachowskis really are commies. Jupiter Ascending is a terrible movie, but it is basically pro-USSR propaganda.
Yes, but then they get back to status quo and the movie is "everyone has a certain place in society".
Antz and Bugs life are better on this.
Matrix is Plato's Cave. Don't overanalyze it. It doesn't have any actual political thesis.
So, appart from the usual, they live, robocop and so on, in terms more of critique of capitalism, I don't know…
In Time?
Also Snowpiercer, I've heard is kinda shitty though.
...
It's a good movie. Good cinematography and so on.
But it's baby's first introduction to ideology.
watch the movie smh
I remember seeing the trailer for that film, and thinking to myself "Man, this looks like a bad adaptation of a bad scifi anime."
When I realized the Wachowskis directed it, it all came together. wtf happened to them? Does a sex change impair one's creative faculties?
I wasn't explicitly leftist when I saw it, but aside how was it leftist? I don't remember liking it very much, but it was better than I thought it'd be. Felt the time literally = money aspect was hamfisted.
Oh shit!!!
Are we just controlled opposition comrade!!!!?
I really need to read the manga.
In term of "we have achived abundance but capitalism still exists and you starve to death only so that the bourgies can keep being bourgies.".
If we were "controlled" would there be such a big attempted to drag us into IdPol?
Kamen Rider is pretty lefty when you think about it. Guy has a cool red scarf and fights against transhumanist neo-nazis. Also this,

All the ones made by 🍀🍀🍀Them🍀🍀🍀.

Nah Cloud Atlas was good. I think it was just the porkies at the movie studio fucking with their production that made Jupiter Ascending bad.
true. I did like CA. I was surprised to have not felt confused during the movie. Not as in a "Whoa, man, inception was such I mindfuck XD" but, I'm impressed that they managed to make it pretty easy to follow.
Every jew movie ever.
In time was terrible, the whole idea in the end is that they can now equally divide all the time, but once they run out of all the accumulated time, everyone is back to living only 26 years.
I was actually shocked just how unapologetically socialist this movie was. Especially for an American movie made in the 80s.
Alien
The Weyland-Yutani corporation is a vehicle for anti-capitalist critiques.
...
I guess that's true. What sets Alien apart for me is the blue collar perspective we're given. The protagonists are mostly all working class.
if anything, pig behavior is on point
it's funny how many lolbertarians like to talk about how this movie fits their ideology even though it's got extreme leftists undertones
also nice trips
That's because lolberts are too cucked to see where tyranny comes from and instead blame muh gubbermint for leading job creators astray.
You do. It's fucking amazing.
That's because they think it's about state vs markets, they don't see that under capitalism the state is the coercive arm of the wealthy, there is no difference between the two.
is this book worth reading?
Titanic
Zizek made an analysis of it that was right-on in "perverts guide to ideology," if anyone could post the webm
The main problem with the story is that it falsely compares human and non-human ecological roles.
Bees are an extremely important genus of animals that are necessary for most world ecosystems to thrive. That they are dying is utterly terrifying. Humans, biologically speaking, are basically leeches that hack and tear at the environment until it suits our needs, which means that individual choice is perfectly relevant to our impact on society.
…his whole point was that it wasn't marxist tho… james cameron propably wasn't being ironic
I don't know about Marxism, but One Punch Man I swear has a Max Stirner influence.
Mob Psycho 100 is even more egoist. He's literally AND figuratively a spookbuster in this show. All of his enemies represent different kinds of Stirnerian spooks: religion, organized crime, peer pressure, etc. However at the same time, it's pretty Freudian as he's afraid of his own potential and has a complex about it. And he's a bit classcucked for being friends with Reigen. It's really a show worthy of left analysis and critique though.
Damn thats one way of looking at it. Lots of animals are like that though, a cow serves no ecological role, neither do most other predators. At best, they are indirectly beneficial to the organisms their prey eat.
I like to think that we humans can do more for "nature" (As stupid and meaningless a concept that is) if we wish, like stopping desertification and planting all kinds of shit, saving species from extinction (whether we caused them or not)
Have you seen the last episode? Theres a good reason for him to be carefull. He is a walking nuke.
You wouldn't want to see what happens when predators or animals like cows disappear. Pretty much every animal has a role in the ecosystem, unless they're foreign to that ecosystem (like rabbits in Australia).
As for humans, we used to be apex predators, like lions and sharks. Once we developed agriculture and started domesticating animals, we sorta became our own ecosystem. We plant fields of plants, which are pollinated by bees from hives we built, and those plants are eaten by animals who we herd. Meanwhile, wild animals use those fields to feed and hide, while others live in our cities and feed off our waste. And that's just a few examples.
We're not so much leeches as we are walking forces of nature. Which is both kinda badass and kinda terrifying.
Still, the idea of him being forced to contrain his self-enjoyment because it's dangerous isn't very egoist. Really, I think ONE is probably a bigtime Buddhist or something. Buddha did some pretty remarkable despooking for his time. Looking at One Punch Man, he seems very monklike with his bald head and zen attitude. He always sacrifices his reputation for the sake of others, he leads a simple life, etc. And Mob is also very much like a monk, exorcising ghosts and doing his best to maintain a level-headed approach to conflict, controlling his emotions and attempting to help his enemies solve their personal issues.
...
I dont see what is terrifying about it. The only thing we have to fear is ourselves and perhaps extinction by a freak gamma pulse.
Sure. Unless they get rid of the system completely. You know.. Communism.
Well… it is IMO. You have to know when to stop before your pleasure makes you forget your best intentersts and end up destroying you and everyone you love..
I was under the impression that shit is not something you can just turn off?
If I remember corectly, they can live forever and the clocks are installed. There is no way you cannot turn off something man made. Or at least stop instaling it.
I think they said they were born with that shit.
If they could turn it off I dont see why the rich won't just give themselves infinite lives, is basically like printing money thats indistinguishable from the real deal.
Dunno. How come we trade with money that do not mean anything and debd is more than worldwide wealth?
Because governments control the currency, it is backed by commodities if you want to exchange it and it has little use besides it.
In that movie, it is literally life, its creation is not controlled by any authority etc. As such its just like gold, unregulated non-fiat currency, just waiting for a hacker to come along and basically turn on god mode.
you fuck, you made me watch that horrible horrible movie and you lied to me
Yes, you see.. It's not. it's backed by debd.
And goverment doesn't control currency. The banks do. And who cotrols the banks? Capital does.
And "life" in the movie is just like modern currency. It doesn't exist, it means nothing and we accept it because .. well.. not everyone can have anything he wants! There are limited resources! Even if there aren't and bourgies need to make profit, so they make them seem limited…
Abundance economics and so on.
Yes.
But thats wrong, time is not a scarce commodity, but it has been commodified by means of this currency.
nigga I told you it was a terrible movie. but you didn't get the USSR themes of the movie?
oh and oh yeah, the protagonist has a special affinity for bees, which are communist bugs
Yes, and currency itself has become a commodity.
Das Kapital, Second and Third part.
bump
I'm going to need this one explained to me.
well im pretty sure insane people dont think the same as sane people tbh
In all honesty Elysium seemed at least kinda red-pilled
What about District 9
anyone have that leftists perspective on k-on made by muke
Cloud Atlas has some pretty obvious but subtle criticism of capitalism in it.
Fuck you, I mentioned this earlier and nobody said anything>>849582
Whoops
I'm dissapoint, son
Yeah, I got some leftist vibes from that movie too.
The protagonist is an inventor whose technological advances are ignored because they would disrupt the established order. Also the bit where all the ants think the circus bugs are heroes could probably be interpreted as relating to spectacle.
Both have had a sex change now.
Except that exploitation is built into their biology.
Fellow biologyfag?
Sorry m8, I just happen to know about how reproduction works for them because i read The Selfish Gene and did a bit more reading. People get the exploitation twisted though - the queen is actually a reproductive slave to the interests of the drones' genes.
This is done because of how Hymenoptera reproduce uniquely. Unfertilized eggs become haploid males and fertilized eggs become diploid females. Males basically just produce sperm for the queen who just sits there breeding constantly. It's in the genetic interest of the drones to have this arrangement because new drones being born this way will have more of their genes on average than if the queen sourced the sperm from elsewhere. IIRC it's 75% of their genes the drones share vs. 50% it would otherwise be. And it means none of the bees in the hive partake in typical sexual selection. The queen doesn't get to decide amongst males from outside the hive. IIRC instead she gets fertilized once when she's young by a male who's around and gradually uses the sperm over the course of her life.
Whoops. Forgot to highlight that drones reproducing results in bees with fewer genes in common with the other drones than the queen reproducing.
