There's this theorem in probability, called Bayes' theorem, that calculates the probability of an event given some evidence, if the probabilities of the event, the evidence, and the evidence given the event are known. But in order to do that, you have to first encode the events and evidence into logical predicates, and then know the values of all those probabilities.
