So, I'm working on a new angle for unifying reality, consciousness, and paranormal occurrence. I was listening to an old Ufology conference presentation about crop circles and there was a sort of "throw-away" line about how the rate of appearance was correlated with solar cycles and specifically the solar maximum. That is, when the sun sheds the most amount of energy. The speculation from their research is that the mechanism of crop circle formation is some kind of atmospheric plasma event related to geomagnetic resonance. The places where crop circles form most often are noted for having similar geographic features including charge generating aquifers. Think of it like a very strange form of lightning strike.

So why does it produce strange patterns and images including coded messages? Because we are here. There is an electromagnetic component to our experienced consciousness, and perhaps it is that this energetic consciousness is the key. When you look at both transcendental esoteric traditions as well as the work of modern researchers such as John Keel and Dr Jacques Vallee, there is a clear link between energy and the existing world.
