The problem is that Greco-Roman paganism (I shan't speak on any other European paganism as, to my knowledge, little is known about them) is much less a religion than Christianity is. GRP didn't require anything of you but to believe in the gods and make a sacrifice to one every now and then. It was less a religion in the sense we know now — that is: an outgrowth of community and method of personal guidance — than merely a way of explaining the world. GRP didn't tell you what to do to have a good life — that had always been left to the philosophers of which the Greeks had many. At best, you might draw inspiration from some myth for your actions — a la "What would Odysseus do?"

Christianity, on the other hand, is not only organized and codified, it explicitly offers advice for a good life. In many ways it was an outgrowth of Greek and Roman philosophy, and to combine that with a more structured explanation of the way the world worked and a more durable sort of community was probably very appealing. Not to mention that Christianity brought a hugely different worldview to the table from the way things had been before; one of repentance and redemption. That one could atone for one's bad actions, rather than being eternally condemned or, at worst, arbitrarily punished or rewarded by fate regardless of one's actions.

To be honest though, I think a lot of your understanding is probably clouded by your obvious bias against Christianity, rather than actually trying to understand it in the period you wish to know about. Ditch the buzzwords and slandering and try to understand it for what it actually is. Up to you, though.

"Human rights" is an invalid extension of this concept to pretend that there are specific rights that go with being "human" and allow for the possibility of "x rights" that may apply to different groups. Essentially it's a way of giving special privileges to people. "Human rights" means giving free shit to niggers because "muh human dignity." "Women's rights" means paying for women to give into their most flawed, base, primitive instincts (and thus destroying one of the pillars of civilization). It's just an excuse to pretend that these groups deserve to be treated the way leftists wish to treat them as if it is inherent and natural.

It's also a conflation of rights with the protection of rights, because in the leftist mind there is no distinction. If a right exists it ought to be guaranteed because "freedom." In truth, not all rights should be guaranteed, and at the end of the day the only person who can guarantee your rights is you. (Also contrast "legal rights" (entitlements by law) and "natural rights" (as far as I am aware the original conception of rights, but I may be wrong)).

What I can tell you is that the best churches to join would be an Old-Calender Orthodox, Egpytian Coptic, Eastern-rite or Assyriac or Iraqi or Latin mass catholic church. What do we consider diversity and multiculturalism? Multiple cultures in one place, that never works, but a single culture that spans across the known world, that never works either. In Christianity the culture rid itself of the things that made it unique, and we have European countries that have very few cultural differences. The food might have been different, and they may have played a different style of music, but that's it, and those two things hardly define culture. The language was the only real part of a culture they had, take that away and make them speak the lingua franca, Latin, and you're left with neither Bavarian or Hungarian. This is the true goal of anything universalist, the destruction of the culture, to instate a monoculture, so that there is very little to differentiate between the people.

I mean I think the desired end goal is cultural segregation via geography (so tensions in an area don't become too high) while at the same time allowing an amount of respectful interplay between cultures. This allows us to push a global science agenda, allows us to progress as a species while minimizing local tensions.

How does it minimize local tensions? The problem with human groups is once a group becomes "too large", we form smaller subgroups within a group. When people within that subgroup begin using that subgroup as their form of self-identification (instead of using the supergroup's label), then this drives a wedge between people in that subgroup and people not in it.

However when a subgroup is too small it seeks to make itself larger. I believe this is why we've ended up with countries that are the sizes they are; they're the geographically sustainable sizes (the product of a monte-carlo like simulation of human behavior so they're mere approximations of the "perfect" arrangements).

Back to the buzzword of "diversity"; yes diversity is good. However naive diversity that the education systems push is silly and trite.
