There are two types of GNU; you could pick one and try to replicate the markings.

My new monitor is double the resolution of my last one, in each dimension, I don't need to hide the interface anymore to get decent drawing area. It's also brighter and doesn't suffer from color distortion. Fuck, this is nice, I wonder why I'd stuck with that shit old AOC monitor for so long. Well it's a known fact that CRT technology is all around superior to LCD except size and weight, not that you should ever care about things like that with a stationary monitor. That said, LED is superior to CRT yet specs-wise but you'll be hard pressed to find an LED monitor that doesn't craps out in a year or two, let alone a cheap one.

There are also meme technologies like laser and plasma, laser being like CRT except bad for your eyes and plasma being like LED except way more expensive and with even lower lifetime.

Yeah OK it's getting pretty fucking retarded, I'm drawing at about 7x10k and 30 active layers, and while making strokes is fine, adjusting layer options takes several seconds to update. I'd usually toggle the layer quickly to see which part of the image it is, but to do it now takes like 10 seconds. Is it just Krita or non-freeshit have this problem too?

Krita is heavier than SAI or MyPaint, but it runs well enough on my 8350/RX 480 box with open drivers.

Well my GPU only supported by radeon, amdgpu is for newer ones. That could be the issue possibly, some vidya does runs slower for me (quality settings don't do shit to improve it though, just worsen the picture).

That might very well be the problem. AMD's OpenGL driver is shit compared to Mesa's. If Krita is performing poorly, I recommend giving MyPaint another chance.

When it comes to OpenGL, Mesa is actually catching up to Nvidia's blob. There has been quite the turn around over the past year.

I think I've figured it out. Putting layers in groups makes them slower and using nested groups makes them slower yet.

Pretty sure I don't need an art class to use transform tool to fix forearm length. Also you can't expect me to improve - I'm not an artist, I don't actually draw. I only pick up drawing tools every once in a blue moon and that's if I put it generously, and for all time total I've made maybe 100 or so drawings, sketches included. I can't even remember why I've decided to start it but it must be some dumb reason because it never made out of the bottom of my priority list. I didn't spent last 15 years of my life drawing every day, I did so programming. Instead of improving my art, I've been making contributions to open source game engines, writing libraries for them, and working on making video games. With that in mind, pillow shaded flat memes is a decent output.

Also you could really post more of your shit that highlights good techniques. I don't usually specifically look to improve my drawing skills but I pick it up if I see anything.

One of my mottos is that you don't need to be an expert confectioner to say if a candy tastes like shit, I apply it both ways. And as I said, none of this is something I don't already know. I do know all that shit about proper shading and perspective, I know all the underlying math and physics theory - I do after all write shaders all the time. And I do know that I just don't have the skill to apply it to a drawing. And, I simply don't have time to build up that skill, because drawing is at the bottom of my priority list. If you look at his work, he has a big issue with how the legs and feet dont really have any weight to them because hes not thinking about a groundplane. How does Saifag deal with this shortcoming? He... cuts off the legs and feet the majority of time instead of spending time getting better at drawing it. This is an extremely common beginner thing, but I dont even know why he does this, hes gotten pretty decent at hands so he should have the skill to tackle balance but yet he avoids it so all of his stuff looks like its weirdly floating.

I dont know about that, he already drew kemono, so Libbie and Kiki wasnt really anything that far aside from trying to struggle with the tail coming from the middle of the back, he said he likes to be flexible but really only did anything that's already animu with simple poses. He tried to redraw flatfag's meme of FoTNS pic with pointing at the camera but got it wrong with a different more flat-on angle and much less interesting foreshortening.

That's bullshit, I already gave flatfag an earful about how he cant do foreshortening right and how he screwed up perspective because he didnt construct any of his drawings. I even gave him a tip on how to do better but he just comes back with "I already know that, but I cant, and dont care to try" He could improve in a week doing focused studies with as little as an hour a day but he would rather be a faggot with this sort of backseat orbiting hypocrital shit was happening constantly well before I started tearing into him. If you wanna argue something about me. talk about my backgrounds. they are shit and I don't like waste time drawing them I do not enjoy drawing backgrounds as I used years ago. All I'm about to say about this whole thing about PSfag is that I feel pity for him. there are a lot of artist that can see the flaws in other's work or even on their own. you can quote that Dunning-Kruger effect or claim being able to detect the problem but not being competent enough to fix them by yourself or ""muh-style" but at the end it doesn't matter. You See... you can talk about lighting all you want. but your proportions are not even that good too.

what makes me sad here is knowing that an actual artist that has shown his work here is trowing some valid criticism without any form of respect. Even if they are valid. this s not the way and you know it. even more sad because a lot of your works suffers a lot of problem that you complain about. I'm now saying you need to be silent about your opinions. what I want is you being less arrogant when you talk about this. Yes. You can use landmarks like drawing a floorplane so you make sure your feet line up with the perspective. You also have to think about what kind of forces are being applied to a surface and draw from there. Nips have also used this technique, animators have really good advice in this sort of thing. Like Griz and Norm's tuesday tips. Note the bottom right pic has a perspective floor plane, and its so these sorts of things Saifag does, dont happen.

The 3rd one looks close to good but its still not quite right, the feet tilt up too much to be convincing that it's on the ground.

Maybe you could start off with suggesting ways to properly do it? And then cut out the whole shitting on your skill part? That'll make your input actually useful and you won't be sounding like a dick.

While being a dick is kinda the default setting on Holla Forums, I kinda have to agree.

I have already given him small tips over these threads and he chose to ignore that there was a problem each time. And now that I've started to really point out the much bigger problems he goes into defensive mode and flat out denial and his childish deflection speel about how he "pities" others tells me he needs to grow the fuck up. Assholish but honest and accurate critism is more valuable to an artist if they actually want to get better than more praise. You can find praise anywhere like DA or imageboards who take anything, but good critism is much harder to get.

Here's an example of the nips working backwards. Instead of starting with the head, they start with the feet and build up the volumes upwards so that it looks like it's connected to the floor. You don't always have to do it this way, but you do always have to be thinking about the forces and interactions if you want to draw convincingly. One of the other methods is to draw the start and end points of your limbs like rayman and then connect it with your brain since you should know how bones can bend in which direction. If there's something like a wall that the character is leaning on? Draw. the. wall. or at least a guideline on where it should be so you can remind yourself, dont just wing this shit like Saifag has been doing. This goes for lighting too, it's common to draw an marker for where the light is coming from so you dont forget and fuck it up.

You have a couple days so i wouldnt stress too much about it. It looks like the thing that's taking the most amount of time is repeated low opacity brush strokes to build up a gradient. If the program your using has a blender tool then you should be able to significantly cut down the time it takes to make gradients to finish.

Maybe I will do some last minute oc so you dont feel like everyone is waiting on you.

The logo is basically a three-pointed shawl she has wrapped around herself. Hard to say what it'd be made out of being as stiff as it is.

That was the result of just installing an eyestrain reduction program. my fault, but this is what it looks like on my monitor. even the white gets turned a darker yellow because it reduces bluelight.

Seriously, don't kid yourself, it's total busy garbage noise and as is; it's one of the worst pictures I've ever seen from TysonTan even from his early days, but not un-salvageable with revisions like with Libbie. But this is far, far, worse than his last one with Dashie and just being in a polygonal papercraft style isn't the reason this thing is riddled with problems and makes me think maybe TysonTan really needs to go into a graphic design / character design school instead of trying to be self-taught.

For something he whipped up in his spare time, it isn't bad. The main gripe I have is the reverse mullet hair.

The only thing I can see clearly is her dress/feet and face.
The rest is all over the place, I can see a single big feather hand but not where the arm connects and looks like it connects to her hair or something? And then there's the extremely long hair-thing that goes both in front of her shawl and behind it which makes zero spacial sense. The shawl is the same color as her feathers. Where's the other hand, is it hanging out the shawl or is that part of the shawl? Does this mean that the shawl front thing is just floating there? And he opted to have a triangle that splits between instead of a neck and looks like her white-moeblob face is decapited from the rest.

An attempt was made to force extract it from the logo, but trying to make it into a character with that execution was a huge failure.

Oh, common, you could smooth out some of the angles and she'd almost look right out of Wind Waker. The only difference is the beak is actually part of her mouth. Not saying Tyson was intentionally basing the design off of them, but you have to admit that, coloration aside, they're quite similar.
