Technically not exclusively for porn, but that is where it is most useful.

yes, I used it as an example of shit that does not fulfill my requirements.

Oops, didn't read about that. It's in a perpetual state of development, don't know where that puts it. Still usable without updates, but they are nice.

Not an argument. Literally every popular chat thing ever made has this "problem". Off the top of my head

MSN
Facebook
Kik
even fucking pictochat apparently (didnt watch yet because in public right now and dont want to be false positive marked as pedo, but im pretty sure these will support my point)

You seem to be one of those in the "ban internet communication because it causes pedo and terrorist" camp.

That said, your picture makes it look like Tox has human readable names, and therefore by Zooko's triangle, it's crap.

wait, do you claim that the other two ends of the Zooko's triangle also contribute to something being crap?

Human-readable names and this picture are an example of adding name system on top of existing Tox infrastructure. From Tox faq:
If you want a shorter and more memorable ID, you can use a service like ToxMe, that maps an email-address-style username to a Tox ID. However, an individual concerned about their security should avoid using these services where possible. Unfortunately, the cost of this convenient name-to-Tox ID mapping is a loss of decentralization. You must trust that the entity running the service is serving you (and others looking for you) accurate information. If you're not careful, you may be subject to MITM attacks.

You don't have to use it though, share a full public key fingerprint instead.

technology was a mistake

Not really. The way people use technology has no bearing in the opinions that people hold. The only thing that technology has done is make these opinions available to many people. It's our job to ignore them when we can.

I can name 2: CloverOS and nyaa.pantsu.cat

Are you serious?

In what language is the backend written with?
The site is blazin fast.

No.
Have you ever read anything on those boards? Most users there are retards arguing about animu, SLOCs, why C is best for their fizzbuzz, designing logos (with animu slut mascots) and rewriting everything in Rust.

Also occasionally saying that windows XP should be re-written in Lisp with HURD microkernel, in such a way that it can run Super Nintendo games natively

By this definition even large, quality open source projects don't apply.

In no particular order, off the top of my head:

Not finished, not polished

Cutthroat camps

Cutthroat camps, depends on updates

Cutthroat camps

Cutthroat camps, depends on regular updates (for security issues)

Depends on regular updates

Cutthroat camps, not polished.

Golang, its source is public on some git. Footer commit hash should take you there.

Cloudflare

Why do I get the feeling that it's someone like Alberto Stegeman or Chris Hansen ?

what the fuck. a pet name system is 5 lines of code. the fact that there is some desire for a retarded central name service indicates that they're doing shit wrong. can you even give someone (their public key) a name on that and see them as the name from then on?

kys turborulecucked faggot.

nor is the windows kernel
Web browsers aren't real open source. The Web is some stupid corporate media publishing platform like Flash or Silverlight (I know, they run on web but that's irrelevant) where a bunch of random API and shit are added to suit some comanies' ephemeral needs. There's no standard way to do anything in the web. Everything is de facto and constantly changes because of last week's fad or worse yet because they need to patch the security hole of the hour. There's no way to do anything on this platform in a meaningful way that's guaranteed to work _securely_ in 10 years from now. At best you can use some basic tags like b p h1 h2 img etc to make a simple document which will probably still be readable, and has no security implications (beyond your reader being garbage) because it's just a static document. And then for some reason you list uBlock, the most irrelevant open source project ever made which only exists as a shitty bandaid to the misconception that is the web. It's literally better to just do javascript.disabled=0 and use a separate profile for the 1 or 2 things that neeed JS but muh noscript^H^H^H uBlock meme. It's also funny because the noscript retards didn't even understrand what the purpose of noscript was (a shitty firewall to prevent XSS, CSRF, clickjacking, etc).

I agree with this. Bugs like CVE-2016-5195 (DirtyCOW) and CVE-2017-0144 (EternalBlue) prove pretty definitively that the security maturity of both Linux and Windows are piss poor.

Sure, I don't disagree with lots of this, but what does any of it have to do with what I said?

Does the moonman doom game count?

because there cannot be a good open source web browser (aside from something for viewing simple static content like Links)

There are a few games/visual novels off the top of my head that meet the requirements:

Super Filovirus Sisters
+ RPG made by one user on /ebola/
+ finished
+ moddable
+ HTML5 game
+ nwjs for desktop version
+ not porn

Dandy Girl
+ VN made by a team on 4chan /jp/
+ finished
- uses ONScripter-EN so not very impressive compared to Ren'py or writing your own engine
+ not porn
- adaptation of existing work

A 4chan's Tale
+ text adventure made in Flash
+ finished
+ not porn

As for software, well, no, not that I can think of. Many people ITT have already pointed out that a lot of software inherently depends on updates to work reliably and safely. Cut-throat camps forking shit is just a price to pay for freedom. Any software that "is useful for more than a handful of people" is going to be picked up by degenerates and normalfags like in - there's no way around it without gassing them or starting your own private authoritarian network
