No, it isn't really any different. Companies are just staffed by people, but you feel comfortable giving them your information just because they've obfuscated the human element. It's the same concept as thinking 'the cloud' is anything other than someone else's computer.
no, the difference is I know who works for netflix and if they use my information in a way that goes outside the terms of service then I can call them out. Even if it's within the terms of service but in a contrived away that's unjustifiable I can call them out. Hell there's a legal case to be made. But ultimately there's no benefit for netflix knowing my address any more than there is for ebay. Or really any company that has you file paperwork.
