Militaristic Classical Music

Since studies have shown that listening to classical music raises testosterone more than rock or metal music and especially pop music (which lowers it), I've been listening to more classical music than anything else. What I'm looking for now is music that is powerful, fascistic, and militaristic sounding classical music like Holst's Mars, Ravel's Bolero, O Fortuna, and Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture. Music that packs a punch, without being degenerate and mindless. Any recommendations would be appreciated, although I'd be especially interested in whether or not any music like this was composed during the Baroque period.

I'm mainly just looking for music that's epic, powerful, and comes from a time when the Occident was much less degenerate.

You people will believe anything, won't you …

Guess what! He was pop music in his day. Way to lower your testosterone.

There's nothing wrong with being popular. It all depends on the values of the time period and society in which you're popular. Being popular in a 16th through 19th Century Europe was very different from being popular in this day and age.

Not bad, but military marches aren't really what I had in mind. Should have clarified since I did use the word 'militaristic.' But I was thinking more of just really powerful and epic compositions from talented composers.

I believe this is what you want.

Don't listen to Andre Rieu, he's basically Fisher Pryce classical music boxed up for cucks. The songs he chooses are great, so get a tracklist off him, but then listen to ANY OTHER CONDUCTOR.

Things that fit your requirements :
Holt - The planets suite
Stravinsky - Rites of Spring
Wagner - Ring Cycle (get a best of, it's like 12 hours long and not all great)
Bach - start with Toccata and Fugue in D and work your way around
Pachelbel - Canon in D
Vivaldi - The Seasons (winter esp, for your req)
John Phillip Sousa marches bring tears to patriot eyes
Rachmaninov - piano concerto 2 and 3
Dvorak - new world symphony
Handel - Messiah suite
Tchaikovsky - piano concerto
Chopin - revolutionary study and military Polonaises
Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody
The end of Beethoven's 9th is good too

That should get you started. My advice is not to listen to this because you think it's cultured or because you think it will make you a better person, that's just a fairytale. Listen to it if you like it and it makes you feel good.

It looks like the other user has german marching music covered.

I posted the other ones.

I know Rieu is normie and all I just for some reason enjoyed that video. I will steer clear though.

Definitely. I'm going to listen to that all the way through.

Thank you for the suggestions. A lot of those I've listened to, and many aren't exactly what I was talking about. I was thinking more of compositions like Holst's Mars and O Fortuna. Music that made you feel as if you were in the middle of an epic battle.

Shamefur dispray, kameraden!

Triarii… (would Imperivm to, 11/10):

Despite not being classical, these compositions really scratch that militaristic, imperial feel.

Why am I even alive?

I strongly prefer Romance music (which is the height of classical). I haven't delved too deep until more recently although I've always liked it, I've realized I couldn't fully appreciate it without my waifu's inspiration and presence; the music gives you the wind to your sails but only after you've found yourself on the ship and ready to embark.

For OP, this symphony has some intense moments but is generally romantic and definitely adventurous.

Forget "hormones," it's all about the harmonization of the soul.

I have listened to the whole ring cycle and Parsifal. Parsifal has wonderful music but in terms of the libretto I certainly prefer the Ring with Siegfried being my favourite part. Wagner's operas will appeal to different people in different ways (depending which archetypes you resonate with better, if any at all); you may like Tristan und Isolde or Parsifal more than I did. All the music in the operas are otherworldly (naturally, it is Wagner of course) regardless of the story and while Tristan und Isolde didn't really click with me the overture and Liebestod are some of the most romantic pieces of music ever made. Parsifal and Tristan probably have the best overtures but in terms of the opera the Ring cycle is incredible to me.

Do yourself a favour and avoid every interpretation but Karajan conducting the BPO. When you listen to Wagner you have to listen to the best possible.

So besides the study linked to here>>8343897
what other studies show that music influences hormone levels? Is there a study that specifically shows classical music raises testosterone?

There is 0 evidence to support that. If it were true then /fit/ would be playing the harps accord while nude admiring each others asses.

They think it's a flood

...

No, you idiot. Just, no. First of all the populace was musically educated, because before records you had to play it yourself on a piano if you wanted to hear it, unless you were part of the elite class that attended orchestra concert or who could pay for a string quartet. Mass concerts didn't start until just after Beethoven's time

This viking music makes the hair on my neck stand up.

That's pretty good.

Checked. It says flood if you try to put the exact same text twice.

Fag unless you're talking about a real woman

Red Army Choir is like a rock and roll orchestra. I think it's appropriate.

it`s a fake

Fucking kek, the degree to which you have no idea what the fuck is going on right now cannot be overstated. I'll simplify the whole situation for you:
Do you fucking get it?

...

Rock opera, socialist realism…what's the difference? It's all trash. Fight Club included.

I like the musical style. I'm not a communist. Here's an old song.

MTV is pretty much the Red Army Choir of America's lefties.

Enough of You, Snowflakes

Enough of you, snowflakes, that lie on the thawed earth
Enough of you, Cossacks, of the suffering.

Enough of you, Cossacks, of the suffering,
Allow us our longing, grief, in the dark woods.

Allow us our longing, grief, in the dark woods,
We shall get used to the Asiatic land.

We shall get used to the Asiatic land,
Cossacks, don't be afraid.

Cossacks, don't be afraid,
We Cossacks have groats and flour.

We Cossacks have groats and flour,
We will cook tender porridge, bake soft bread.

We will cook tender porridge, bake soft bread,
We will collect money, and send someone to get wine.

We will collect money, and send someone to get wine,
Drink in a glass, have breakfast.

Drink in a glass, have breakfast,
Drink a second glass, and have conversations.

Drink a second glass, and have conversations,
Drink a third glass, think about Dad and Mom.

Drink a third glass, think about Dad and Mom,
Drink a fourth glass, sing a song with sorrow.

Drink a fourth glass, sing a song with sorrow,
We shall sing, sing about Cossack life.

We shall sing, sing about Cossack life,
Cossack life truly is the best of all.

Cossack life truly is the best of all,
In the Cossack's house there's a black thick fur coat,

In the Cossack's house there's a black thick fur coat,
His young wife is a rifle.

His young wife is a rifle,
Let us go, colonel, take a look at the rifle.

Let us go, colonel, take a look at the rifle,
So that my shotgun will be clean and polished.

So that my shotgun will be clean and polished,
So that it'll be loaded in the alarm time.

So that it'll be loaded in the alarm time,
You're my faithful comrade, my mettlesome black horse.

You're my faithful comrade, my mettlesome black horse,
With a song of braveness we'll go to the deadly hour.

With a song of braveness we'll go to the deadly hour,
Service, our service is in the strange eastern land.

Service, our service is in the strange eastern land,
And a fiery head is the Cossack's fate.

One of my favorites.

Turk music is pretty good tbh.

That's very medieval. I like music from nearby in the balkans. This is from serbia, and the balkans are one of the few places odd time signatures are popular. Only thing to be careful of is chalga music, which is their equivalent of reggaeton.

I prefer baroque

Not exactly what OP is looking for, because it's not very militaristic, but the Bulgarian female vocal choir always sends chills up my spine.

Gustav Holst - The Planets - Mars, the Bringer of War
Very militaristic feel. One of my favourite pieces

Need to post moar like this. I've probably listened to this 50+ times in the last week, it's so good.

Holla Forums won't like this because it's from a Jewish movie filled with pro-Jewish and anti-Roman propaganda, but I must admit that the 1959 version of Ben-Hur has some great militaristic-sounding music, although not really classical.
