Trump is a little busy these days, and it would be odd to see him making big private sector deals. Even so, Twitter is out of his range for a complete purchase, as the market cap of Twitter is around 14 billion.

Seeing as the Trump family have no background in tech, this would be a foolish purchase. The Trump's would have an easier time building up an alternative, and using their brand name and promotional abilities to push the product.

You know what's crazy? You don't even need to buy twitter. You just need people with charisma and lots of followers to use a different site.

Twitter has always been poorly implemented.

It's a tragedy of the commons… kind of, a new type of natural monopoly. It's extremely valuable as a utility, however, for breaking news because of its portable fast nature and established user base. Trump shouldn't buy it, he should nationalize it and maintain it as a neutral platform for the exercise of first amendment rights.

I agree with what you say but I would go further.

Someone has to kickstart, support and engineer a peer-to-peer communication network/system protocol like tweeter or whatsapp that cannot be infiltrated or abused for ideological purposes, and neither can it be controlled or subverted by the government of any country. This system would have to be compatible with modern smartphones and the mobile network for widespread dissemination.

Users would be able to communicate with each other and share ANY data, for transfer of any material, idea or media such as pictures, memes and short videos.

Imagine the potential for this as an early form of the hivemind network, and how ideas/memes would compete in this environment darwinistically.
